Screen is incapable of rotation, so games are out. Does not come with an S-Pen, so detailed artwork is out. Horribly designed handle that is not detachable, so a decent case/cover is out. The only good thing about this tablet is the sound.

Poor Screen Quality for Samsung

I was very disappointed to find the display to be an LCD instead of oled. The display looks fuzzy and washed out. My iPad Pro has better contrast, color and sharpness than this display. Compared to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and my Note 5 this display looks quite poor. I will be returning it and waiting for something with better quality. Besides the display picture quality I found the display size to be a bit over done. It's not something I'd want to haul around with me away from home. The 12" inch display on my iPad Pro hits that sweet spot. It's not too big too hold for gaming, a great size for viewing video content and great for drawing, photography, creating documents and reading. 18" is more like a mini tv. The icons were oversized and the software version even after an update is outdated.

The microUSB port did not support my device

Despite the Samsung being listed as compatible, the microUSB port did not support my device, which apparently is too complicated for the Samsung unit. The device company blames the Samsung and its inferior MicroUSB port, and I presume Samsung will blame the device company. However, the device works fine in a Samsung tablet. I challenge Samsung to come prove to me that their device is working properly. Oh and by the way the Geek Squad is exactly that...they could not even find the microUSB port. I had to tell them how to check the microUSB port. I guess if I left it long enough at Best Buy the Geek would have looked at a youtube video and figured it out. Yeah, I am pretty disappointed in Best Buy and Samsung.

Doesn't feel like a finished product

That old saying about making assumptions was probably my downfall in my purchase of this item. I was drawn to it by it's large size because I'm not one to take my computers out of my home setting for recreational use so I thought it would be nice to have a mini-tv to lug around my apartment. When I was first shown the smaller samsung tablets, I was impressed with their innovation. How they essentially became your phone once they were paired and whatever was on the phone would display on the tablet. That isn't the case with the View and for whatever reason it feels as though it's trying to be something else. Instead of having a seamless pairing with my s5 like the smaller tablet versions, you have to download "smart switch", which isn't an issue but for some reason my music didn't sync across. Not a big deal just an annoying obstacle that makes the product seem older, not newer. While on music, I had to resort to using a micro-SD card to transfer and actually found that process to be annoying seeing as how you have to copy the artists folder individually to move it from SD to tablet. When you have over 100 artist, you can see how that would be a pain. The actual apps for the music aren't great either. I have a rather general case of OCD and not being able to adjust album art was unsettling since hardly any of my artists art displays.
The big issues I've found with this product is that standard apps like Facebook and Snapchat (only social media apps I use) don't display like they were meant for this tablet, with their general appearance resembling a web page displayed on a zoom of 50% (I don't mean the characters but the actual page itself). Also, when viewing galleries on facebook the photos would over zoom looking like it's on 200% until you actually click on a specific photo. While mentioning facebook, when you bring it up on the multi-panel screen function, it doesn't actually display any content, which doesn't make any sense seeing as how it has the appearance of being tiny on a single panel view.
Another unwelcoming surprise I discovered a little too late was when I was moving my photos around from folder-to-folder, if I did a "move" command instead of a "copy" command, some photos would disappear, I'm assuming lost in limbo somewhere. I solved this problem with doing a "copy", checking the ensure they moved, then went back and deleted the photos, which is obviously a hassle and time consuming.
One last little issue, which being touch screen shouldn't be all that surprising but still something to mention, is that the touch screen can mess up from time-to-time. I'll be trying to scroll and it'll click on a link or picture I wasn't meaning to view. Once again, making the experience less seamless than desired.
Most of my issues with this product haven't been too major although when comparing it with my ancient lap top, my Galaxy s5, and the 12" samsung tablet, it's definitely lacking in features and innovation, especially for being a newer product.
Some things that I have liked are the display quality for apps like youtube and netflix, having a very good quality of picture, which is what I feel like is what this tablet is going for but doing so shouldn't hinder basic feature that should be standard.
My hope is that, being a newer product, there will be adjustments along the way which is why I'm posting this review. I really want to love this product but as of right now, i wish I would have stuck with getting the 12" tablet, which is what I'll be telling the people in my life who are on the fence about this product.
If anyone who has purchased this item has any comments about use that might help me out, please post.
P.S. I've only had this product for about a week and haven't tried doing too much with it yet so there may be more likes and dislikes along the way.

This is nothing more than a giant Android with a flimsy plastic construction. Very limited interactive functionality. Cannot use external devices. If you only want a large screen, then this might suffice.

They got rid of the pen... also for 500 bucks they could have included the USB cablet so you can do a few things instead of another trip to best buy... I will just getitonline...
The big screen is nice... the sound will fill the whole room and you can play a movie and share it with a few pèople... I am still learning the tablet but what I have seen so far it is OK...
But the tablet is not for everybody by its sheer size... go take a look before you buy...

I bought this tablet to download movies on, so I could use ithe to watch movie on a plane. It is very slow and the back handle doesnt come off. They need to redesign the handle, and speed up the screen movement and operation system.

tv/tablet on steroids

I was going to wait longer to write a review on this but I am so head over heals in love with it!
Yes, it'seems big.. in fact it's HUGE for a tablet, but so far it is beyond perfect for me. I was looking for a 20 something inch TV to take out on the patio.. had to be smart so it would play my Directv and Netflix but I didn't want to mess with any chords or cable boxes. Found a few but they were still cumbersome to take out and bring in.. then I saw this.
Not only the TV I was looking for, but a tablet that so far has been flawless with surfing the web, using Facebook, YouTube, etc. And playing video poker (the free site). Just realized it also has power point, which I didn't expect.
Even though it doesn't lay flat, the attached kickstand has the perfect angles for use on my lap or on a table.. bigger than my laptop and the sound is actually quite loud, but not booming bass. The handle is great for carting it around.. although I was leery of trusting it, I have with no problems whatsoever.
When watching something not HD the picture could be better, but HD viewing is amazingly crisp and clear. Others have made comments about the glare and yes, you do need to make a point of trying to eliminate the direction light is coming at you, but I've used this on my patio night and day with no real issues.
After several hours of use I have yet to run the battery even close to the 50% mark so don't know how long it would take to run down.
Being on sale for $150 off made the decision a lot easier to justify.

Excellent media device

This tablet seems unwieldy at first but it turns out to be a great device to have on a table or to carry around the house. It's like having a super smart portable TV that you can also use for web activities or games if you want. You can load Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Showtime, Sling TV or even local channels via an HD Homerun and make this into a super streamer.
Some things that could be improved are battery life and the stand should have more angles. By the way, you can put this on your lap and it's very comfortable.
Overall, I think this is a great device.

I was bought an open box version of this as a gift. It turns out they only reset the tablet and didn't wipe it, thus I am unable to use it or set it up. I'm basically at the level of frustration to just return it and buy something else or just leave with my money. Serious letdown on this one. I called customer service and was told I could schedule an appointment to see if they could fix the error.

I read a ton of reviews and watched a ton more YouTube videos on the View before I purchased. However, I never read / saw anything about using this in the classroom. I purchased it anyway and am glad I did. My classroom is a Google classroom, i.e. everything is ran through Google Classroom - Google slides, forms, docs, etc... I also use Chromecast to present all my presentations e.g. Prezi. The View gives me a lot of control over my presentation while not being tethered to a cord and it's big enough for me to see the screen when I am not near it. It also has replaced the need for a laptop. I thought I would hate the attached stand, but have come to appreciate it a great deal. The screen is awesome and so too is the sound. I love it, I am very well pleased, and works great for me in my classroom.

A little getting used to, but very good after

The size of this tablet takes a little getting used to. but performance is good and works well with MS products (365). A removable back would have been good, but still works good in a lap. Also works well sitting on the kitchen table. Compared to my laptop, it has a much better viewing angle.
For me a significant problem is the lack of a HDL port. I really wanted to connect this to a projector for presentations. Sales person said the Samsung HDL adapter would work, but it will not plugin. Samsung confirmed currently no HDMI adapter for it. Only knocked off one star for this, because most people probably do not care if it has an HDL port.
Over all, really like the product and would recommend it as long as you do not plan on connecting it to an HDMI port.
