This review is for the Samsung Notebook Pro 9 with the 8th Gen Intel i7-8550u processor and AMD Radeon 540 graphics. This is a touchscreen display. OVERALL - I must say that so far, I am quite pleased with this laptop. I have only had it for a few days but I have been putting it through its paces to ensure it is worth keeping and will suite my needs. It is light for a 15" laptop (yes it is 15" and not 15.6") and I think it hits a sweet spot on size. Big enough to work on papers and briefs and not strain my eyes. Form factor small enough to fit in my smaller backpack. PERFORMANCE - I am coming from another popular brand 13" 2-in-1 which was great for portability and media consumption but didn't have enough processing power for some of my professional needs. This Samsung does have the power needed. I have been able to simultaneously work on graphics intensive PowerPoints, Word documents, PDFs, and have multiple Chrome tabs open. GRAPHICS / SCREEN - Radeon 540. You are not going to play AAA game titles on this, but if you like eSports, lower requirement Indie titles, or AAA games that are a few years older, you'll have a decent go at things. Media consumption is enjoyable. It is a 1080p screen that is quite bright. I usually prefer bright displays and this is decently bright at 75-80% in a lit room and 100% is just a torch. I will say that the included "Samsung Setting" software is a nice feature that provides the ability to change the color profile of the display and includes an HDR mode. Think twice before getting rid of this pre-installed software. BATTERY - Okay, the power meter is the one quirky thing I haven't figured out yet. When first unplugged, the battery will show only 3-4 hours of remaining time. After 10-20 minutes or so when running on battery the laptop will adjust the time and, depending on brightness and running programs, will reflect anywhere from 6 to upwards of 10 hours or remaining battery. I've used it for hours on battery and have gotten over 7 hours of use time.

My Samsung Notebook 9 Pro is a great laptop! Fast, powerful, capable, tons of memory, HUGE screen but small body. My last computer also had a 15 screen but the frame around it was also a bit wide. The frame around this one's screen is narrower, which also makes for a narrower overall laptop. My last one was just under the margin of too wide for my carry bag. This one fits beautifully. Relatively lightweight for a laptop too. I also LOVE that it comes with a Samsung S-pen.

Before I bought this laptop I used macbook. It was hard for me to turn back to windows. My first option was buying Samsung since I used in the past and I had great experience. This laptop's features are amazing. I have been using for 3 months and I haven't experience any problem at all. My only complain is battery life. This laptops battery life longs average 5 hours with lite using internet, word. etc. For a laptop with such features i7 8th generation, ssd, and 16 gb ram, battery life should be 10 hours+. Additionally, they must improve their usb-c charging on this laptop. For these reasons, I give 4 star.

This laptop is fast and the tech. is awesome. From the touch screen to the face recognizer. The pen is light but effective on the screen. The only reason why it's not a 5 star is because the speakers are poop. My phone has louder speakers than this laptop. I definitely think this laptop is going to last me a while just like my past samsung laptop.

Feels like a gem! The screen seems to automatically go a shade darker when not having the power plugged in. But this could be my windows setting. The battery life seems great. One thing that kind of is weird, is I cannot tell if I'm actually using the extra graphics card. one time I commanded through settings or click through windows device manager, or was it task manager, and saw some weird setting. I figured new laptops must know what they are doing. I think the extra graphics only turn on automatically maybe or something. This laptop feels great. The screen is sensitive, cleans easy. It opens and closes great, like it'll last. The sound is great, and the built in fans are almost always off or really quiet. They keyboard and HOME and END buttons works, having designated HOME button I think makes this laptop way better than all other brands, for fast text writing. The stylus also, I cannot lose it because it slides into laptop. I'm very happy with it. very thin and light. Fantastic. The factory reset, pressing SHIFT with reboot worked fine for me, although I maybe don't want to have to do this, for me it was just a test to make sure I could get back to brand new laptop configuration. The keyboard feels a step above when typing, bigger feeling buttons.

I use to be a huge Apple fan, loved the security etc., However, anyone that has ever owned a Mac laptop and send document's etc., everything has to be converted. Not to mention there is usually an extra step in everything. I still love Apple Mac books, they're just not conducive to my lifestyle. Samsung laptop is worth the price, and I love the pen. Hard to find a case for it tho.

Pros 1. Light weight 2. Powerful enough for light gaming and editing (i7 + dedicated GPU + 16 G RAM) 3. Touch and Display is nice. 4. Price is good, comparing specs/type with other brands. Cons 1. Initially felt slow, Update drivers/ BIOS/ graphics driver using Samsung update -- then it performed well. 2. Glossy screen (but its common with all touch screen) Overall -- Good value Ultra book compared to HP/Lenovo.

Love the overall performance of my new Samsung laptop. Didn't give it a 5-star because I miss the numerical keypad on the keyboard, but that was easily fixed with an external keypad. Only had it for about a month, but have been very pleased with its performance so far.

I have had this laptop for a year. I did a bunch of research before I decided on it and I have been fairly pleased with it. I love the pen that comes with it that can be stowed away inside of the laptop itself. I haven't used it for much besides school and notes so I don't know how well intensive programs or gaming are on it. When you do anything on it you have to have the laptop on a stand or flat surface because it can get pretty hot if the vents are covered for too long. I have had one very annoying problem, the audio. When I first purchased it I had no issues but not long into it the audio had a crackling noise that drowned out the noise even with headphones. Sometimes reinstalling the drivers help, sometimes it doesn't. It's been my biggest complaint and it happens sporadically so it wasn't bad enough to get another or return it but other than that I would say it's a good buy.

    Great 2 in 1 laptop

I think this is the best 2 in 1 laptop in the market at the point. Please consider anything that I do not mention below is great. First issue is definitely battery life. Even though it's 2018 laptop, it doesn't seem to last 5 hours with moderately heavy programs. Charging with power bank(with Quick Charge 3.0) doesn't seem to even keep the battery the same. This issue must be handled for this laptop to be the "real" 2 in 1.(I know to be 2 in 1, it should be light, and the weight and battery life are sometimes mutually exclusive... but anyway, as a user, battery life is definitely short) Second, I do have some wireless network issue with Intel dual band wireless ac 8265. I don't have problem using this laptop at work, but at home, this laptop's network is really unstable with my old router. It's not a router issue because my old laptop and cell phone are working fine. Other than these two, pen is great, laptop is light, I like the design, keyboard is good, speaker is fine, good storage(if need more, you can use micro sd), etc. Overall, I would give 4/5.

This a good grad school laptop. Pros: It is versatile and allows for notes to be taken as a tablet, with a stylus, or typing. Articles can be read in a way that doesn't strain the eyes or body. (I don't know how downloading SPSS will go, but I will try it out and update. It is a heavy program.) It is sleek and lightweight. It can be easily carried to class along with other necessary class materials. The s pen can be used as a clicker to advance powerpoint slides once the displays are connected. Very professional. It is useful for teaching because the displays can be connected and the s pen can be used to draw diagrams. Cons: Occasionally the 2 in 1 function gets confused and will not switch out. Facebook messenger video call does not work unless you download the app but it isn't a difficult process. The off button is awkwardly placed, very sensitive and its in a spot that i would normally grab to move the laptop. The top buttons do not work to lighten or darken the screen so I have to go into the settings each time. It heats up sometimes. I usually shut it off to give it a cool down period when that happens. If the battery is completely done, it will not turn on even if it is plugged in, there is a 15-20 minute wait. I was surprised the first time it happened. All of my other laptops allowed me to use with no battery as long as they were connected to charger.

Notebook was an open box item so got a good deal. Build quality is good to excellent. Keyboard has nice travel for touch typists. Performance with the SSD is outstanding and system has excellent battery life. Am getting up to 8 hours with heavy use. Radeon graphics chip is suitable for most tasks except hardcore gaming. The i7 cpu and 16GB of memory allows multiple apps to run seamlessly. Built in pen is a nice added feature but haven't put it to use enough to really comment. Overall great buy. Was also looking at the Surface Book and Tablets but the cost and features of this unit sold me.

This laptop is lightweight, and has everything I was looking for. I love the feel of the keyboard, and the resolution is terrific. I have yet to use the stylus much, but I do love that it can be used as a tablet with touch screen. I do wish the power port was on the right side, but that is only a slight con. I will highly recommend this laptop!

A good buy for the price. With 16gb of ram it’s fast. However it struggles with some features on photoshop. Very nice clear touchscreen. The laptop is LIGHT! no joke, it’s really super light and easy to handle. Only thing is the way you open the laptop you have to hold it from the back too.

I haven't found anything not to like about this computer. It boots up fast, programs/applications run quickly. Light, good screen, backlit keyboard - and something that I haven't seen in another notebook, a functional pen that stores in the notebook - I have other devices that use pens, but you have to keep up with that pen, so I never use them. I can't really think of a con - some people talk about the audio, which isn't great -- but I haven't seen a laptop of this size that's any better - and it's more than adequate for business/student uses.

I love the touch screen option. It is sleek, lightweight and the resolution and colors are beautiful. It is fast. I am hoping the smaller hard drive will be ok. The solid state feature I am hoping will be more protective since there aren’t moving parts.

So far I'm really enjoying my experience with the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro. I love the this laptop's tablet conversion and the fact that I can use it to draw. The pen that comes with the laptop, however, may not be ideal for drawing. I'll probably have to invest in a better pen if I want a good drawing experience. Also, as I heard in a review of this laptop, I have found the speakers to be a little weak. Fine for most of my needs, but it could stand improvement. One last area that could possibly be better is the construction. The material (plastic for the most part it seems) could've been better for the price I think. Nonetheless, I am still happy with it and enjoying all of its features. The brightness and display are wonderful by my standards.

Though it’s only been a couple weeks, I adore my new Samsung laptop. It’s light and portable, which lends to its tablet-mode feature. I’m more used to Apple so still getting used to being back on Windows. But it’s been fast and reliable these far. Very happy with it!
