I bet someone in marketing said "Lets protect our phone with a card that is as flimsy as a Pokémon card!" It will not protect the back or camera on any phone if dropped. It comes with a cheap plastic square and 1 card. The card is slim so, it must be for esthetics? Definitely doesnt protect vital spots except for the sides of the phone.
