Enjoying the SmartThings Hub

I've had the hub for a little over a month now. It has been great to integrate with some existing Z-Wave devices that I have and get some more added. For instance, I like using it with an Ecobee thermostat to control turning off the furnace when I leave for the day instead of having it be time controlled. Great to walk in and have it turn back on. The software for the device isn't amazing, but is fine. I was hoping for more from it which is why I drop a star. For instance, when you attached a Ring you don't have any control of the Ring, which is too bad. I assumed I would since it was listed as being supported.

Once you get the hub setup, it's not too bad to deal with. This isn't the most straightforward device to setup though. First, you sign up for an account. Is fairly painless. It gets complicated if you already have a Samsung account, I highly recommend using it. Unfortunately I didn't realize I already had one. I'm not sure when I signed up for it, so now I have two. Plus, I had created an account for my parents which only added to the headache. After you have an account, you'll log into the app. If you have more than one account and logged into all of them on your device, the app will seemingly choose one at random with no easy way to say the app is trying to use the wrong account. After you get signed into the account you want to use, the app will ask for a code. The code is on one of the pamphlet in the box that is easy to overlook. I want to give you a heads up; you will want to keep that paper with the code (or some sort of copy, I took a pic to backup it to Google photos) because it will need for various reasons such as resetting the hub. Then you'll want to set a location for the hub. This part isn't too difficult. Hit menu and set your address. If you have a Philips hue hub, hopefully it will ask you to add it, because if you have to add it, the option to do so isn't easy to find. Neither is the option to add a harmony hub, but that one is going to needed to be added manually, but fairly easy to find.
Now if you want to use the developer website for advanced options, that is a nightmare. It took several days and many attempts to get both the app and website logged into the same account, and even when they were, they didn't seem to sync up. This is why I reset the hub and app to know you need to keep that code for the hub handy.
Now that I have the hub and website working, I hope I never have to set them up again, because it nearly drove me made, but at least it works well now.

Was tied between the Smartthings Hub and Wink. Finally decided to go with smartthings hub because it is now supported by Samsung so should not go away anytime soon (unlike WINK with its financial troubles) Also has a great community of developers with lot of free smartapps to try

Simple to set up and allows for lots of devices to connect to it. Great for multiple homes -- each hub doesn't confuse the items connected on the other hub.

The HUB integrates well with Arlo, Philips Hue bulbs and GE outlets. Setup was easy and the device is small enough to be placed anywhere.

I bought this as a replacement from their Hub v1 & it delivers! Easy to set up and never loses connection. Easy to program and the backup battery is a plus and pairing my devices was a cinch. I've got Schlegel Connect door locks, light switches, Hue lights (bridge required), smoke alarms, cameras, multiple sensors...etc...all grouped together by room or by "automation" which is excellent for one click on/off. It literally takes care of the entire house and I can even set up time delays. A must for anyone who wants hassle free set up. Best Buy beat out all the other competitors prices.

The device was extremely easy to set up. almost all of my devices adapted without issue and set up with Amazon echo worked flawlessly. The only issue I had is that my ge connected bulb wont connect to it. My ge switched will but not my stand alone bulbs. Other than that it works great. I really like the fact that it can be connected to my network via ethernet or wifi. Unlike similar products on the market that will only connect via wifi. Definitely a great p[product for someone wanting to do a DIY automation system without having to spend thousands for an integrator to come set up a system

Easy to hookup but making other devices work correctly took a Call to the helpline (they were great!). Hope more equipment becomes compatible in near future.

I always wait to write reviews to test and try them. Gotta say this has gotta be the best hub I've bought to date. Works great with all my products besides my nest thermostat hope they add that to it shortly to get all my products in one apps.

I am new to smart things, I am able to interact with my wemo products, kwikser 916 smart lock and other z wave products that I have. Product works but app needs improvement. It is buggy and I have 2 ghost devices that I can't get rid of them.

Respond time is quick. The ability to scan and pick up most of my smart devices is great. Would have given 5 stars if it works with TP-link Kasa. Unable to pick up Samsung 6417 camera.

This is currently the best HUB available!

This by far is the best hub available on the market right now, however, there are still room for improvement. My biggest gripe is that the hub cannot control your devices should you lose connection with your ISP. The hub requires connectivity to the Samsung servers to control locally installed smart switches. There should be local processing available in my opinion.
Putting the negative aside, I have not had any issues with any of my automated devices thus far. Highly recommend this hub until they release version 3 which I anticipate on buying!!!
