This SSD offers a massive amount of storage, which was exactly what I was looking for—and it still provides room to spare even after transferring all my files from the cloud. It delivers excellent performance with read/write speeds up to 1,050 / 1,000 MB/s, making it perfect for transferring large files, videos, or games quickly. What makes it stand out is its rugged, rubberized design. It’s IP65 water and dust resistant and built to survive drops up to 9.8 feet. Whether you're working in the field, traveling, or just want peace of mind at your desk, this drive can handle it. Pros: Super fast transfers Tough, water- and dust-resistant build Compact and portable Built-in security features Cons: A little pricier than the standard T7 Slightly bulkier due to rugged shell Bottom Line: If you need a reliable, fast, and durable external SSD, the Samsung T7 Shield is one of the best options available.

I use this drive for all my photo work, and it’s been solid. I move a lot of big RAW files, and the transfer speed is quick enough that I’m not sitting around waiting. What I really like is the rugged build I can throw it in my bag, take it on shoots, and not worry if it gets bumped or wet. It’s small, easy to carry, and gives me peace of mind knowing my client work is safe because Im dropping stuff. For anyone doing photography or creative work, this is the type of gear you want backing you up.

The Samsung SSD T7 is a compact, high-speed external solid-state drive ideal for professionals and everyday users alike. With read/write speeds up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s and a sleek design, it offers both performance and portability. It supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 and works seamlessly with PCs, Macs, and even smartphones. Built-in AES 256-bit encryption and optional password protection enhance security, while the shock-resistant build adds durability. Though it can get slightly warm under heavy use, it's one of the best portable SSDs in its class for speed, reliability, and value. I have been using it for last 2 years, so far so good!

Very pleased with this unit and its performance. Physically it's durable and well protected, yet small and easy to store and transport. It connects flawlessly to all my devices including my Android phone, desktop computer, and my laptop, making it easy to quickly transfer files between them. Transfer speeds are much higher than wifi or Bluetooth, so large video files from my phone and 3D video camera are no problem. Will soon be acquiring more of these for continued storage and data backups. Highly recommended.

Overall good purchase. As with always, you never fully get the full storage space on these external drives (and same with memory cards). Given how big video and image files continue to be with tech advances, worth going for the largest storage possible. Love the small size and portability and durability of this design. Would recommend. Protects from dust, spills, floods, drops, and more, makes it a great find for keeping data safe. Check out how small it is next to the laptop in the photo.

I’ve got two of these T7 Shield bad boys. One lives on my desk for daily use — the digital workhorse. The other? That’s my “break glass in case of emergency” backup, and it travels with me like a loyal sidekick. Speed? It moves files faster than I delete emails from my ex. Durability? I’ve dropped it, tossed it in a bag, and probably committed a few SSD-rights violations… still runs like day one. Water resistance? I’m not saying you should bathe with it, but if it rains, your data won’t drown. The rubberized shell feels like it could take a punch from The Rock and just blink back at him. This thing wants to be in your go bag. If you’re still messing around with fragile drives that panic at a sneeze, do your future self a favor. Get one. Or two. You’ll feel like a tech survivalist in all the right ways.

Fast, sturdy, and convenient - ready to go where I go, always. By my side for every drone media shot/dump. Did I say it’s fast!?!?

The SSD comes with two cables -- a USB-A 3.x to USB-C, and a USB-C to USB-C. I confirmed that they are both data AND charge. So you can deploy them for other uses such as charging your phone or programming your microcontroller. The installation software supports Windows 7 and higher, macOS 10.10 and higher, and Android 5 and higher. Installation permits optional AES 256-bit hardware password protection. The datasheet says that it is drop-resistant to 3 meters. It is equipped with an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance. I did a Windows 10 copy/paste backup of 53 GB in 44 minutes. I will continue to backup more at this rate. You could use Macrium Reflect to clone your whole drive to this grab-and-go device.

I have bunch hard drivers from different brands they are bulky and slow I bought this one couple months ago , wow very small and strong too fast for transferring data highly recommended.

I've had it for over a month now (purchased August 2025). It works as intended--no issues at all. I use it to back up and store photos and videos from my phone (Samsung S24 Ultra). It connects seamlessly to my phone and I use the "Files" app to transfer photos abd videos. I transfers photo and videos from my phone to the T7 Shield quickly with no problems.

I bought this as a portable drive to use for school work and it has been a workhorse for me for going on three years now. I am especially glad I opted for this version as it has withstood a few drops from me over time with no loss of data or function.

[Employee of bestbuy] Bought this to use with my M2 Macbook Air as I always feel its better to expand external storage than buy a larger internal for the same amount of money. I do audio recording and video editing with files directly off of it and there’s no issues with buffering. File transfers go extremely fast so it really doesn’t feel like external storage. If you use any computer that supports the highest Thunderbolt/USB connections I highly recommend it. Definitely also a bonus that it’s extremely portable and durable

The Samsung T7 Shield 2TB SSD is an ideal portable storage solution, offering high-speed transfers up to 1,050 MB/s with USB 3.2 Gen 2. Built to withstand harsh conditions, its IP65 rating ensures water and dust resistance, while a rugged rubberized exterior protects against drops up to three meters. With 2TB storage, it’s perfect for storing large files like 4K videos and photo libraries, and it works seamlessly across Windows, Mac, and Android devices. While it’s pricier than some SSDs, its durability, speed, and capacity make it a great investment for professionals on the go.

Extremely fast and super small and lightweight. I have games installed on it and im able to play them whithout any problems.

Compact and robust. Almost fits the palm of my hand, but it stores alot. Operates quietly and quickly. The unit does not get hot. I purchased to store sports videos and pictures and the up/downloading has been quite fast. The shatter/water resistant case gives me peace of mind when transporting it. Definitely will be purchasing another.

I love the speed of this SSD drive anyway, However, today, I was SO relieved I had decided to buy this Samsung shield hard drive! The moment It fell off my desk & hit the floor, my heart sank..... I feared losing all my work (as I'd done before with a different external drive). I plugged it back in, held my breath & started searching my folders..... exhale!!! Because I chose the extra sturdy drive ..... no files were lost or damaged. In the future, I shall ALWAYS buy the Samsung ssd portable shield drive. My work is far too valuable !!

This SSD is the best in its segment. I've been using it for a year without encountering any problems. It's a reliable, high-performing choice I highly recommend.

Amazing and reliable product, compact and fast, for designers and creatives its an amazing choice

I absolutely love this drive. I don’t know a lot about computers or transfer speeds, etc. But everything transfers over very fast and I’m able to work in Final Cut Pro with it. Recently, I have had some issues with saving a FCP file to the drive. Also, the USB-C cord slips out VERY easily. It’s not a make or break, but very annoying.
