Customers admire the UE590 Series 28" LED 4K UHD Monitor's picture quality, 4K resolution, and vibrant colors. Many also praise its affordability and ease of setup, along with its fast response time, making it ideal for various uses. However, some find the stand somewhat lacking in sturdiness and adjustability. The absence of built-in speakers and less-than-ideal viewing angles are also frequently cited as drawbacks.

Not The Best for MacBook Pro

I bought 2x of the Samsung UE590 in hopes of connecting them to my new MacBook Pro (2017). I bought 2x dongles with HDMI / USB / Lightening, shut down the MBP, and connected the dongles and monitors. Initially, they were working well, though started to flicker shortly after. I thought maybe it was an issue with the HDMI cables, so I bought 2x RocketFish cables and went as far as replacing the dongles as well; that didn't help. The screen flicker was constant and interrupted my workflow heavily (even after doing some tinkering with settings on the monitor). Turns out, most MacBook Pro users experience the same issues with numerous Samsung monitors. I ended up taking them both back to BestBuy and exchanging them for 2x LG 27UD69P (27" IPS LED 4K UHD FreeSync Monitor), which worked out of the box without issue and have had zero issues, whether connected with the MacBook Pro open or shut. The quality of these are much better (though they did cost a bit more). https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-27-ips-led-4k-uhd-freesync-monitor-black-white/5770300.p?skuId=5770300

The 4K monitor has a beautiful picture. Best clarity and colors I've ever seen. Love it for watching movies from my desktop computer. Also, love the graphics on my multiplayer games. Can't say enough about this monitor. Best investment I could have made.

I love this monitor on my computer. I originally had a dual monitor setup that was both 1080p. Ever since I upgraded the monitor to this 4k I've noticed a big different in the quality of the screen. All the fonts and text look so clear and crisp. The screen is very responsive and gives enough room to multi-task when I need to. Playing games on my computer I can tell there is a nice difference from my old monitors and I'm really happy with this. The only issue that I've had so far is that the speakers don't seem to work on it. However, this really isn't a big deal for me as I have another speaker setup so I'm okay with this. I really like the stand that the monitor sits on. Has a unique feel to me when people see it on the desk. Overall, I'm very impressed with this Samsung monitor and look forward to years of use with it.

No question, Samsung makes high quality displays. This one is no different. The colors are vivid, and resolution is crisp, and the picture quality is very good. That said, this monitor is a "4K" monitor capable of very high resolution. Admittedly, that sounded a lot better to me as a featured spec on the box than it actually benefits the user in everyday use. In truth, if you max out the resolution of this monitor and fit a LOT of content on your desktop. That's the good part. The bad part is that my 53 year old eyes can't read anything because everything is so tiny. It is just unusable like that (at least to me). I bought this monitor for the added size for more screen real estate. If I had it to do over again, I would buy two lessor expensive 24" monitors. You could spend the same amount of money with great picture quality and end up with more screen anyway.

I originally purchased one of these monitors due to Samsung's amazing reputation, the quality of the screen, and my need for a 4k monitor. When I purchased this, it was $400 dollars and worth every penny. Hooked up to a custom pc, running 4k video over Displayport 1.2 was flawless and looked amazing on this monitor! Black Friday 2016 rolled around and I grabbed another one for $250! Side by side these things look amazing and I couldn't be more pleased! The stands are the only downside, wish they were a little less flimsy, but even with the poor stand quality I have never had these close to falling over, and I've bumped into them and my desk multiple times and given them a good shake. Overall they are worth every penny, don't hesitate to buy this monitor, you will not be disappointed.

Everything is good about this monitor except that its angle is not adjustable. Good color, easy setup with my Macbook Pro. The manual could be plainer, but the menu is still easy to figure out intuitively. Glad I bought this one. Might add a twin in a few months.

The monitor gives you a realy sharp image both for text and graphics. It was also easy to set up, plug and play, for my Mac Air. The only bummer was the stand. The stand is not adjustable either for height or angle.

This is the first time I've played Xbox with a computer monitor, and having the Xbox One X, it gives me almost the full potential for all that the X can do. I switched form a 55" 4K TV to this monitor and saw a significant increase in my skill just from the switch. Everything is crisp and clear, as well as the smaller screen giving you the ability to see everything right in front of you; unlike a bigger TV like I was playing on. I definitely recommend this to anyone that has the potential to push 4K gaming to a TV or monitor. Not to mention, compared to some of the other monitors with the same specs out there, this one is priced fairly decent.

Pretty good monitor. Only downfall that I dont like is how to shut off the screen. Sometimes it takes forever to shut off and sometimes it doesnt. Picture is fantastic for a 4k monitor. Was going to go for a Asus 4k monitor til i stumbled across this monitor and turned out to be cheaper than the Asus so it was a no brainer as I was on a budget. I had to return the one to best buy cause there was a mixup somehow the night i purchased it online. I got a phone call stating it was not in stock in their warehouse and I would have to cancel. Well I tried to cancel and was unable to do. So I searched and found about a 50 dollar off new monitor of the exact same on and went that route. So what happens a few days later? Yeah I received one from best buy lol. So i returned it for a full refund.

Note: after writing this, I realize it’s fairly unorganized. I apologize for that, however I think the information could still be helpful. I bought this specifically for my xbox one x. I prefer playing games on a monitor at a desk as opposed to on a tv. It does everything I wanted it to do and I have no serious complaints. However, out of the box, the colors were wacky, way on the warm side. After a bunch of adjustments, I got them to where it’s acceptable but still not great. This doesn’t bother me that much but I know this would make the monitor unusable for some people. I know the colors are off because the monitor I use for my pc is significantly more expensive and according to experts, has very good color accuracy. I used that monitor for my Xbox before this one and there is a massive difference. I bought this monitor because I wanted to play in 4K and wanted my pc monitor to always be on my pc. I like to use my pc while playing Xbox. I should mention that if you don’t know what I’m talking about or haven’t ever messed with color settings on a display, you might think it looks great and this might not matter to you at all. Another thing that bothers me but is far from a deal killer is the time it takes to switch inputs. I haven’t timed it or anything but cycling through the 3 inputs has to take at least 30 seconds. Whereas on my other monitor it takes 5 seconds max to switch between its 2 inputs. The things I like about the monitor: 1. Price. This is a great price for 4K 60hz gaming (wish my Xbox could consistently use those 60hz but that’s not the fault of the monitor). 2. PiP. This is not something I cared about when purchasing but it’s done well. I like how a pc will use a vertical resolution (I think it’s 1920x2160) whereas an Xbox or cable box will be letterboxed into a 1920x1080 horizontal resolution. However this kinda leads into another con. Only 1 of the hdmi ports is suitable for 60hz so if I have pip enabled, or just switch inputs, I can really feel the 30hz of the mouse with the pc side of the pip (note: I did not try the DisplayPort input. Not sure if that runs at 60hz, I would assume it does?). This is a very minor issue but just in case you were thinking you could have 2 60hz hdmi inputs displaying at the same time, you can’t. To be honest I’m not sure if the 60hz input runs at 60 in pip because I haven’t actually played a game on the letterboxed screen. I assume it can handle it since it downscales the resolution to 1080p but I can’t actually say for certain 3. VESA mountable. This is essential to me so it’s a good selling point. However, this brings up another slight con. The mounting point is pretty strange. The mount screws into the top of the back of the monitor. This was not a problem for me but if you are upgrading to this monitor and already have a mount that cannot move vertically, you could have problems. For example, I have a monitor mounted on the wall behind my desk with a fairly standard “moves left, right, forward, back and swivels” type of mounting arm. The monitor mounted to that arm is screwed in the the middle bottomish of the back of the monitor, if I mounted this monitor on that arm, I’d have to move the desk out from the wall because there’s not enough clearance between the bottom of the monitor and the desk (since the monitor is being held from the top not the middle). In conclusion, I don’t regret this purchase at all. It’s a fine product and a good deal. However, I definitely cannot give it 5 stars because of its color accuracy and weird quirks.

Love everything about it other than can't tilt or adjust positioning of monitor. It is a stand still unit so where you put it , it will sit like that. Other than that, display is beautiful. Also no built in speakers, so you will need a bluetooth speaker or wired speaker connected.

I usually do my homework on these well and looked at many of the reviews. I also knew that Samsung had a good reputation for good dynamic range. However, this monitor is actually painful to look at, at times. It is very difficult to adjust the brightness and contrast so that you don't feel like you are getting a washed out look. It's worse if you wear glasses. The design and stand are great, but compared to many other lower resolution models, I'm not sure it's worth it. I use it mostly for photography and after staring at the screen, it just gets tiresome. I did use it for some gaming and for that it was reasonable, mostly due to the how the colors blue and gray could dampen that harsh light effect that comes when you have a white background on other applications. I have actually decided to purchase a more expensive monitor as this monitor is just too hard on the eyes.

I bought this screen pair up with my MacPro. The color and resolution makes it the perfect for my hobby photo work in Adobe Lightroom. I shoot in RAW format and now have ample screen real estate to edit my photos at nearly full size. Minimal adjustment was needed to the settings to make this one of the best screens I've ever worked with. The Security Guard at the best buy i purchased this from said it also made for an excellent gaming screen.

I got this for my gaming PC which has an Nvidia GTX780. Most games are only able to run at 2k resolution. The picture is great and I feel good in knowing that I will be able to take full advantage of my next video card. I think that it will take something like a Nvidia GTX980TI to see most games in 4k.

This monitor was my added to make my PC setup dual screen by display port connection and then To my xbox via HDMI. The picture on it is so crisp and bright. I upgraded my video card recently and 4k on this monitor is so nice. It doesn't support HDR but hey its not too neccessary unless you are editing. For my xbox though i do miss the HDR effects sometimes but its not too noticable but i also game on a full size tv at times....I would highly recommend this screen and it has 1 ms response time which is great for gaming, not high HZ rate but hey this thing is so crisp

The UE590 Series is a great looking panel. I cannot complain about the picture or performance. Working in 4k resolution allows for multiple windows to be open at the same time on one monitor. I prefer this to multiple monitors and cables strewn over my desk. Side by side against a few other 4k monitors on the market, I thought the picture was better and since that is the most important function of a monitor, the samsung won. The negatives- The location of the inputs and vesa mount (which lead to issue #2) The stand- its floppy, flimsy, and mostly non-adjustable. I'll be buying a proper monitor stand to mount the monitor to. Hopefully the high vesa mount does not limit placement.
