Design Update Needed

This product needs a design update to perform better. The adjustment point to keep the TV level horizontally is held by an Allen screw and washer about the size a nickel. This is too little surface area for the weight of large outdoor TVs causing my 75 inch Samsung Terrace to slip.

Installation of outdoor tv

Best Buy Geek support dud an excellent job of installing my outdoor tv on a stucco wall. The technician was on time and personable and he worked with me for best positioning of the TV. He found the studs using a stud finder so there were no mistakes in the placement of the mount. He also installed the Roku box that I scavenged from another tv and set up the TV. And only when we were fully satisfied, did he leave.

Excellent All Around

It comes with a full-on book of instructions, that are very easy to follow, and show illustrations. Along with giving you cautions of things to think about before doing a step which comes in handy if you’ve never done something like this before.
Inside the box all the screws are labeled so you know exactly what they are and which ones to use depending on your setup. It comes with a drilling template making mounting easy. Last, it has cable ties for cable management. Holds up to 120 lbs. and the mount itself is about 25 lbs.
Operation is extremely smooth through the full range of motion. You can adjust it minutely as well if needed for whatever viewing experience you are going for. I like that it has two arms instead of one to help distribute the load better (compared to my old one with a single arm that always scares me when fully extended. That isn’t the case with this one). Additionally, it has a lot of small adjustments to make sure the TV is straight (if you happened to not get it perfect during original mounting that you can tighten down again so it doesn’t move during regular use). The entire unit looks/feels premium and is well put together. It is just SOLID. I couldn’t ask for more.
I’m personally using it inside. But it is waterproof/resistant and comes with a place where you can feed a lock (not included) to help prevent theft.
All in all excellent mount that installs easy, moves smooth, and holds pretty much any TV you could want. I can’t think of any negatives outside of price and time it takes to get everything up and running. But personally, think mounting a TV is superior to anything else. As you have fine movement of control, it can get up and out of the way easier, and just looks cleaner/better.

Built Like a Proverbial Tank

Like my intro states, this mount is made like a tank. Crafted from heavier gauge steel than most ordinary mounts, the Sanus is made to withstand the extreme conditions of the outdoors. How much stronger is the Sanus steel than other cheaply made mounts? Considerably. This mount can support up to 120 pounds and weighs in at a hefty 20 pounds without the TV. It is so sturdy, that it weighs as much as the TV I have it mounted to.
Included in the box with the mount is the requisite hardware to mount the TV to its bracket. Sanus includes a good variety of mounting hardware and spacers, that will surely accommodate most, if not all TV’s made in the past decade. To ensure a long life in even the most extreme conditions, the Sanus kit includes all stainless-steel mounting hardware. No cheap galvanized or painted fasteners here. Also included, are 4 large lag bolts to and washers to screw the mount to a standard 2x4 or better wall.
The mount can extend to a maximum length of 25 inches but sucks in to a svelte 2.75 inches when tucked up against the wall. I have numerous articulating mounts in the past, but none have ever been so smooth and effortless at moving. The Sanus glides with a smooth and confident precision that no other mount I’ve used to date can match. All my previous mounts were either too stiff and felt like you were about to break the TV when you wanted to move it or were so flimsy, they failed to hold the TV in my desired position. Not sure what Sanus has done, but like Goldilocks and her porridge, this mount is “just right”. No matter what position you want your TV, the Sanus mount will accommodate. It rotates, swings, tilts, and maybe most importantly has a spot for a padlock to help deter theft and damage when not in use.
The only real quibble I can find with this mount is that for the price it does not include mounting hardware for any other wall types than wooden studs. They provide you with the instructions for mounting it to other types of material, like concrete, but do not include the hardware. I get that 95% of us will mount the TV to wood studs, but it would be a minimal cost to manufacturer to give out a few concrete anchors with the mount.

It seems fair that if we invest a certain amount of money in a TV of our taste and the brand of our preference, we also invest in a TV mount good enough not to ruin our TV or the experience of watching it.
This Outdoor Full-Motion TV mount has left me very satisfied and impressed. It is made of a very resistant metal, very well finished and anti-corrosion (waterproof). The design is very well thought out and it has a double arm which makes moving the TV more smooth and precise. You can tilt and swivel the TV to get the best possible viewing angle, the movement is easy and does not give you the feeling that it will break or fall, you can also move away from the wall up to 25 inch, also has motion lock knobs that allow to ensure the desired position and avoid unwanted movements. It also includes cable ties to create a cleaner and more minimalist setup.
Installation is easy if you follow the step-by-step installation manual. It is necessary to prepare the necessary tools as only the TV mount, screws, washers and spacers are included in the box. Due to the weight of the TV mount and the TV to be placed, which can go from 40" to 85", it is recommended to install in wood or concrete, besides its construction makes it perfect for outdoors. Being that this TV mount is for outdoors, its design makes it possible to use a padlock to secure the TV, something that is appreciated.
In summary, although there are a variety of options on the market with different features and at different prices, Sanus has a variety of high quality TV mounts, regarding the price I think the product speaks for itself. This Sanus TV mount 40"-85" is really a premium product that includes what is necessary to carry out its installation, and in case of any inconvenience there is a support number where you can ask for help. The product is made of a very good material and it is waterproof, has a design that makes it very easy to move the TV in the best possible position without much effort, a very complete installation guide, and the option to place a padlock (not included) for added security as it is intended for outdoors, is a very complete product and excellent quality, the price is worth it ... recommended!

Excellent but very heavy

I have used a variety of television mounts and I needed something for an outdoor television, so I was looking forward to using this mount.
The very first impression is that this is a heavy mount - almost 44 pounds and that is without the television.
The finish looks great. There is really no way to judge how well the powder paint will hold up outdoors until after a few years, so I will update my review when appropriate. But it does appear to be well-made and I expect it will hold up in the partially-covered area where I am placing the outdoor television.
I much prefer the full-motion mounts over those thinner, limited motion mounts, especially when it comes to making wiring changes. Sometimes this comes about when I change content providers or look to add a device by way of a HDMI cable or other type of cable. It is too difficult to get in back of the thinner mounts, especially with a television mounted on them and it always becomes a two-person job.
With this full-motion mount, ne person can easily do the work that is necessary without worrying about dropping the television.
My only concern with this mount is the weight. I hope that the studs where I mounted it are sturdy enough to support the over 50 pounds now hanging on the wall.

Hearty Mount… with a Couple Head Scratchers

***MATERIALS:***
This is a heavy product. My packing slip said over 23 lbs. The documents say it’s rated for 120 lbs, but it could probably double as home gym equipment (jumping, pull-ups...). The hinge mechanisms feel incredibly smooth (especially when you get the TV attached), the metal appears thick, and the paint looks to be as well. I would have preferred a matte coating to hide fingerprints and increase the impression of durability, but I won't be looking at it much. Machine screws, bolts and washers are all high strength textured stainless. There aren’t enough lengths, however. You may find yourself using really long screws plus spacers to keep from bottoming out.
***DESIGN:***
The design of the wall section, while quality, is limiting. Unless you use a base plate, you are stuck with a 16" mounting span. The afore-mentioned heavy-duty construction is a drawback here, as an option to widen out to 18", 20", or (in my case) 24" would have been incredibly helpful in increasing mounting flexibility. Fortunately, we aren't going to be finishing our building for a while, so I was able to find space to attach beneath a window (to a 2x4 footer). The design of the horizontal attachments give you the option to mount directly to the television or take out spacers to protect the back plastic. A vertical plate (the connection point for the wall section) must be screwed into the horizontal attachments, and - with the included hardware - only fits one way. Assembly this way also limits your ability to adjust height. The design would have made much more sense if the plate were flipped, giving unrestricted access to every tab slot. The included hardware doesn’t allow this (the screws are too short).
***MOUNTING:***
Installing the wall section isn’t too bad if you have the right conditions (like 16" on center studs). Sanus includes a cardpaper outline to mock-up where you would like to put the mount before hefting it. Once you have a spot marked, you can be as diligent or lazy as you’re willing to risk - I have a lighter TV so I used self-tapping deck screws (plus washers). If you were to use the massive included screws I’d drill out the studs a bit first (lest you crack the wood wide open). Once you have the wall and TV assemblies mounted, you really should get a second person to help. It was a struggle for me to properly place the vertical plate (TV side) onto the mounting tab (wall side) with my 55” attached. The shape of the vertical plate slots and the mounting tab both make connecting the pieces manageable, but you could easily end up placing your TV too high or too low - or hitting the tab on one of the horizontal attachments and dropping your TV (due to the design flaw mentioned above). The tab plate is secured to the vertical plate by an allen screw, but check where things line up if you intend on installing the locking tab, as it may not align. I got lucky and had one working slot available for the locking tab (the very lowest).
***LOCKING:***
The design of the locking tabs make lock selection limited. If you have a vertically keyed lock, you can manage just fine, but I couldn’t get my disc lock to work. There just wasn’t enough room, being that the vertical plate is sitting up ~8” from the bottom of the TV. Trying to get the tabs aligned and have room to turn the key just wasn’t working. I imagine this would be difficult even if you had the right lock - especially with a bigger TV. My 55" is nothing compared to what this is rated for.
***TURNING RADIUS:***
With my 55” I was able to hit approximately 60 degrees from center, which is better than advertised. Full marks.
***WILL YOU LOVE IT?:***
It’s hard to say this is worth what it’s retailing for, given the sparse included bolt/screw selection. Instead of a host of build possibilities, I found the kit wanting. Only by guessing and dumb luck did I pull off a successful installation (no height adjustment issues). The locking tab placement is frustrating. The turning radius is exceptional (frankly, the exact thing I wanted this kit for). You could likely use this to haul a trailer. All considered, 4 stars.

I've been purchasing Sanus products for a couple of years now; primarily, the stands that they've been making for Sonos speakers. Honestly, this TV mount doesn't disappoint. I haven't had a chance to mount it just yet because I would like to have my friend help me install it. I will say, because of its rugged build quality, it's also quite heavy and getting it lined up and leveled by myself has proved to be a little challenging. Although, I haven't installed it, I did spend time playing with the articulating arm mechanism to just gauge its smoothness and stability, and I'd say it's pretty dang solid. I've purchased various desktop arms for holding up computer monitors and this one exceeds the quality of those pretty easily.
I think it's worth emphasizing the build quality because this "premium outdoor" version is very much meeting, if not exceeding, my expectations. Instructions for installing this is clearly laid out when you open the box but they also have QR codes to pull up YouTube videos to help you just in case. Installation appears to be pretty standard issue, but like I mentioned earlier, I think having a second person would help quite a bit to get things aligned and installed properly.
This is such a small thing but I really do appreciate how Sanus separates out all the small pieces in their packaging- they package all the nuts, bolts, washers, etc. in separate, labeled compartments, which helps keep things organized- no need to go hunting for the piece that you need. I would highly recommend

Super Quality Exterior TV Mounting Bracket

The Sanus VODLF125 is a UL Certified weatherproof full motion outdoor tv mount for televisions that range in size from 42” to 85” and up to 120 lbs. It is sturdy, well designed and made of corrosion-resistant coated stainless steel and stainless-steel hardware. All of the hardware needed to install the mounting bracket is included in the package. The product is designed to fit VESA mounting hole patterns from 100 x 100 mm to 600 x 400 mm and a pattern guide for mounting the attaching “H-style” bracket is included in the box.
When fully retracted the TV screen is only 2 ¾” from the wall, but full extension allows for a multiple range of angles. There is even a place for a padlock to help secure the TV screen when it is flat against the wall in the 2 ¾” position. The mounting bracket will extend up to 24”, has a swivel range of 44” left or right, a tilt range of 13” forward or 7” back. Two knobs are designed on the bracket to lock it in any position within the range mentioned above. All of the pieces and parts that make up the mounting bracket are manufactured to be very solid, strong, and well designed.
Because of the weight, this must be mounted to either studs in a framed wall or masonry. If attached to the exterior wall properly, I definitely recommend this product if you are looking for an exceptionally designed exterior TV wall mount bracket. The bracket carries a 10-year warranty.

Reliable Sturdy Mount!

For context I have used 2 other brands and formats of mounts for TV in the house. I have installed 1 myself, the other installed by a professional. I received this and installed myself.
The TV I have is a 65 inch, approximately 38lb.
When you open the box you know it’s premium. The material and supplies feel industrial and sturdy. This was important to me because the mount is projecting the tv, so the center of weight will be projected forward. I’m sure they thought of it but I felt reassured after opening the box.
Installation is pretty straight forward. The manual it comes worth is pretty straight forward, but the build was self explanatory. Part of the success is to be prepared, have a stud finder, know the piping/electric/insulation in your walls, have the drill and proper bits ready etc.
Once mounted I tested the Mount for a few weeks. I articulated the mount left for a week, right for a week, extended it at its maximum distance etc. Beautiful
Would buy again. Sturdy. Industrial feel. I feel my investment is save in Sanus arms lol
