worked excellent for what i needed it for
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.bought this hdd to use as my steam library and misc files on my new pc i just put together, initializing and installing the drive was straight forward and really easy, a bit on the slow end of the rpm range(5400rpm) but since my steam library was small and i don't have that many files i wasn't to worried about it, overall i was very happy with purchase

Smile of the Cheshire cat
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 4TB (terabyte) (which is 4 trillion bytes) internal drive is like a hot bath. I mean ears submerge only the nostril sticking out the water so you can breath. It’s amazing.

Old tech
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Back in the day I would of recommend it for anything, but nowadays you need to use a solid state drive or an M.2 Even if you use this for extra space, it will slow down your PC. After that being said, it is a good brand and solid drive, but use it to store data not to use when gaming.

4TB is a lot!
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4 TB is a lot of storage! It's fast, easy to install, and has been reliable. It is an excellent addition to an existing desktop system or as a main storage unit in a PC. The form factor is nearly perfect for a desktop or micro PC. Not sure about laptop applications though. SATA makes it super easy to use. Multiple mounting options increase flexibility and usefulness.

Mixed feelings, but I would still buy Seagate
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sorta... I had to return this particular drive because I was able to fix the computer. Short story: The computer was in storage due to a move and would not power on. The solution was simply do a thorough interior clean and reset the BIOS battery and the computer powered on. The above was just in case you had a reason for purchasing an interior hard drive beyond needing the additional space. As for the barracuda as the Seagate barracudas are the only interior hard drives that I buy and I have bought a number of them over the years. Pros... 1. Reasonably priced. 2. Extremely durable. Typically, my computers go out before the hard drive so I just pull the Barracuda from my old computer and pop it into a hard drive enclosure and my data is there. Cons... 1. Reliability. Durable and reliable are not necessarily the same thing. It is still a hard drive with moving parts and you guessed it. I have had Barracudas just randomly fail! I bought a 2TB internal Barracuda hard drive. I actually bought 2 of them. I wanted and needed the extra storage. Annnnnnd u guessed it! One of them just failed for no reason! There was no data on it! It just failed out of the blue! As you can tell... I am still upset about that one! I believe that I had another Barracuda just failed randomly, but I am more upset about the one that I remembered. 2. Storage space!!!!!!! This one is the important one! I do not know your hard drive storage space needs, but you better buy at least twice what you need! I have already emailed Seagate about this issue. It is literally false advertising as you will never get the storage space that is advertised. Seagate's response? We do not control the way Microsoft's operating system interpret our storage space. Sooooo... If you buy a 4TB Seagate Baracuda hard drive, you might get between 3.5 to 3.8TB... That is an extreme might! I bought 2 Seagate EXMOS 18TB hard drives and I only get 16.3 TB of storage space. Yep! Lost almost 2 TB for each hard drive! This is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. I said all of that to say.....If you are in the market for a hard drive then I do recommend a Seagate Barracuda or even the EXMOS. Yes, I am upset about not getting the amount of storage that I paid for, but it is likely that all the major hard drive brands are running this same scam of false advertising more space than what is actually available. As a consumer, it really is an easy fix.... Seagate could just put in the fine print that 'available space is less than advertised storage' or they could do the ethical thing and just manufacture the hard drive at 5.5TB and advertise their storage as the minimum storage space available. This way... When I am buying a 4TB hard drive, the consumer knows that they are getting at least 4TB. Advertising storage at one level and as the consumer we receive less than advertised is just bad ju-ju. I could not think of a professional term. lol.... In either case.... it is not really a bad review as it is a recommendation to buy the hard drive, but understand that you will always receive less than the advertised storage so you better buy more than what you need.

Works great for storing data
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HDD Works great for storing data. It will never compare in speeds to using SSD technology, but it is affordable for lots of storage. I use it to save most of my data, excluding the OS which is what runs on an SSD. I've only had it for a month so far, but I don't expect an issue for a long time.

Good hard drive for general use.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two Seagate Barracuda Compute drives as upgrades for a few systems at home. The drives perform as expected and are quiet (at least I can't hear them over the case fans, etc.). If you are looking to use this drive in an older system, check to see if your motherboard can support/use the capacity of a 4TB drive. Otherwise, you may only be able to use 2TB of the available capacity or less.

Excellent HDD & Customer Service
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this HDD online and picked it up from the store. I use this HDD to make digital copies of my VHS, Hi 8mm, and VHS-C tapes. The HDD was an easy install on my gaming Desktop. No glitch in capturing and transferring videos to HDD from analog devices. Though I was late in picking up the order which was canceled, the Associate at Customer Support was friendly, assisted in tracing the item, and completed the transaction. I am very happy with the purchase and the wonderful service!

Barracuda
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of storage and cheap. I have NVME drives for all of the main harddrive tasks. I just use this as a background storage for stuff I don't need readily available.

good price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This hard drive is a lot of space at a great price. It is actually the second one that I have purchased. Both were added to my daughter's gaming computer and she is super happy with all the space!

Set expectations
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a cheap drive that works. However it’s a 5400rpm drive which is pretty slow but if you are using it just for files and maybe some old games or videos.I could have missed it but I never saw before I bought this that is wasn’t a 7200 rpm drive which is what I wanted. It works though.
