Customers are saying

Customers highly value the ease of use and the ability to control multiple devices with this universal remote attachment. Many appreciate its compatibility with various TV and sound systems, as well as its simple yet effective design. However, some customers find the size and price to be drawbacks, and a few wish for more buttons. The programmable buttons are a plus for many users.

I originally saw the Sideclick as an "other people purchased" item while looking at the Amazon Fire TV. My addition of a sound bar in my living room added a 4th remote to my cluttered side table and reviews were good so I purchased this as a run of the mill universal remote will not work with Fire TV/Stick, a Roku, etc. It is SUPER easy to program. What I like the most is not needing to press a button like TV/Cable/DVD as you would on a cheaper universal remote to operate a device nor needing to spend hours setting up a higher end (and priced) one like the Logitech Harmony. The only downside I see in it is no number keys if you watch a lot of TV however if you use a streaming device you are likely ditching cable/satellite or debating doing so. The instructions should say "press and hold" when pressing the button you want the Sideclick to learn. As long as you do that and know ahead of time which buttons on each remote you want to assign to the Sideclick you will have it programmed in a minute or less. Change your mind and want to change from say sound bar mute to sound bar power for the B button? 7 seconds (I timed it) to change it. Some reviews have said it feels bulky in small hands. I have girlie kid sized hands and am able to comfortably operate it with either my thumb or index finger.

I recently cut the cord and quit using DirecTV after 11 years. I switch to using the Fire TV with the DirecTV Now streaming service. It was a great switch and I have not looked back. My biggest complaint was the Fire TV remote was not able to control the volume on my soundbar and was not able to turn my TV or soundbar on or off. The Sideclick remote was exactly what I needed. I was able to program the remote to control power and sound level, along with changing the input on the TV. Pros: Works extremely well, connects to the Fire TV remote easily, reduces the number of remotes you need to use Cons: Is kinda bulky compared to the normal Fire TV remote, requires separate batteries, must have old remotes to program the Sideclick

This works perfectly. It is so nice being able to control all of my devices from one remote. I just wish there was 1 more button to be able to program.

Solves the problem of multiple remotes but...

Way too expensive for what it does. If you can find it on sale or use reward coupons, makes it more palatable. That said, it is actually very well designed and perfectly solves the problem of having to use two different remotes. Just one does it with this device. Cord cutters rejoice. Well made, solid device. Clips perfectly into existing fire remote.. Very easy to program and has enough buttons to cover the essentials, including vol up down, ch up down, quick view, power of course and two other buttons which I use for source and mute. One bonus for Sony PS Vue users who have Sony TVs with ARC and who use a home theater receiver for sound. The sound and channel change buttons on the TV remote work with PS Vue (ie, volume on TV remote controls receiver sound levels and auto changes input source too as you switch from TV to Fire TV) , as does quick view. So if you program this with TV remote, you gain functionality.

This is perfect. Now I don’t need another remote. I have programmed the power button for my TV. The B button for the menu on my tv. The down arrow scrolls through the menu, and the up arrow selects it. The A button powers on my Surround sound. The “+” and “-“ control the volume on the Surround sound and the input button switches between my game system, Surround sound/dvd player, and TV. Much better than the piggy back remote I originally bought.

    Micro universal remote

I guess it serves its purpose. Is a micro universal remote. Only 8 programmable buttons. I’m trying to figure out which ones are necessary if i lose my main remote. I think these are my top 8 pics: Power Up channel (I rarely ever use channel change buttons) Up screen selection Down screen selection Left screen selection Right screen selection OK Back/return I wish there were more buttons for a down channel, Input selection, FFW, Pause, RW. I watch most of my streaming TV from YouTube TV which my regular Firetv remote controls. Someone complained about something sliding. Mine fits nice and snug. Wondering if they are using the wrong attachment. They give you two to choose from.

I was always losing either my amazon or the TV remote. This simplified things so that the kids only have to hide one remote. It’s easy to configure and includes all the main buttons you need. My only complaint is that there isn’t a dedicated mute button. You can program one of the generic a or b buttons but then you have to remember which is which. Other than that minor thing I’m really happy.

The side click helped remove 2 out of 3 remotes!

I purchased the side click to see if it would help me with remote control mania. I was able to make it work for both my theater system, and my Blu Ray player, so now I only have 2 remotes to contend with. The main one for my television, and my fire stick with the side click attached to it. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a mini keyboard on it...

I received a Sideclick as a gift and have since purchase one for every room in my house. It makes things so much easier. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a few more buttons. It currently has 8 programmable buttons. 1. Power 2. Volume Up 3. Volume Down 4. Chanel Up 5. Chanel Down and 6-8 are open buttons, I wish I had 2 additional buttons.

Would be nice if the fire TV remote had the power& volume built in. but this fills in that gap.pretty good. could be a little cheaper.got it on sale :). it needs more of a rough surface on the back. its a little to smooth. slides around in your hand. But it does held you hold on to the fire tv remote better then just the fire tv remote by itself.. The smooth surface on the back of remotes, that are getting smaller & smaller doesn't help things..this is a common problems with a lot of small remotes. the engineers must think we have suction cups built into are hands or that a adults hands are the size of a infants

I found Harmony to be far too complicated and slow - but this little device is so easy to use. I do think it costs about $10 more than it needs to cost, but it is still the best solution. I am controlling a TV, a sound bar, fire stick and apple tv. I do need to use the apple controller, during the few times I need to use the apple tv, but for the most part this works great. I am able to easily change the input from HDMI1 to 2, I can turn on the sound bar, I can change the volume and completely control my fire. You can't believe how difficult that is with other devices because the fire doesn't use IR.

I was really hating having to use 2 remotes to watch stuff on the FireTV, especially since the tv remote is freaking enormous for no good reason lol. This was super easy to program. It learned so fast that I totally assumed it wasn’t even doing anything. I used the + and - for volume, the < and > for up and down, A is for Menu and B is for okay, and the one with the little rectangle thing on it is for switching inputs. My only complaint is that I wish it was the same length as the other remote cause it kinda scoots back and forth and looks all wonky.

This add on for the fire tv remote is easy to setup, it requires you to use the original tv remote to program functions such as volume and power. I used this on a 20 year old sharp tv and functions pretty well. The biggest issue is you need the original remote or one to copy from. This is not like a universal remote where you can program without it, which was disappointing for the price. If you can find this on sale, go for it. It makes things easier for those who struggle with tech.

I have found that it makes it easier to tell the difference from the other ones I have in my home for the other televisions. It works as advertised, and reduces the number of remotes I have to have around me just to switch between the television, a movie, or just a movie with some added surround sound. Thanks!

This remote has made it easier to keep track of the fire remote and it essentially got rid of the other one. It has been very useful and was easy to set up. I would recommend it to anyone with a fire tv. The only negative is that the remote comes out of the clip fairly easily, especially if it is dropped.

The sideclick fits both versions of the fire remote equally well and is incredibly easy to program. As long as you map the essentials (channel up/down, volume up/down, menu, source, etc.), you should have no problem using it (in conjunction with your fire remote) as your standard tv remote. Completely happy with my purchase.

The sidekick remote is an excellent addition to to the fire tv remote control. I had to use two remotes, one to change input on tv and another one to control fire tv. when the sidekick is attached to the fire tv remote remote you’ll have the ability to control the tv as well as the fire tv. Very convenient, and works great.

This item is a great addition to your fire stick remote specially if the fire stick is your main source of video entertainment. It comes with attachments to use it on either side of the remote. It allows you to control power, volume, channel, input and 2 programmable buttons. I no longer have a need for two controllers
