I added this classic movie to my library primarily due to the wife wanting it for the collection so our children (who are now college age) can see some of the 80's comedy. This is a great transfer with good video and decent audio for blu-ray standards. It took a while for them to release this format, so if you were looking for it before, it only came out on blu-ray this past year. Well worth adding to the movie library and I recommend both the quality of the transfer, and the movie itself.

The Quintescential 80's Teen Movie

This classic from writer/director John Hughes gives us a great look at the 80's teen and what life was like for them. Gedde Watanabe has a standout performance as foreign exchange student Long Duck Dong! But the story line is about typical teen problems, unrequited love, peer pressure, school groups (dorks, geeks, popular and popular students, etc.) . They may have been different in the 80's, but the problems are all pretty universally the same. If you haven't seen it, all I can say is, "where have you been living -- under a rock?"

I wish they could make more movies like this honestly, because the movies nowadays, they lost that special touch and fun and outgoing feeling... its nothing but hookers or gangsters or cartels nowadays... superb movie and highly recommend...

A great politically incorrect film and funny with heart. John Hughes couldn't make this film today. I'm Asian and Long Duk Dong made me laugh...get over your PC! Gedde Watanabe is also fine with the part as he gives an interview in the bonus section.

Classic 80’s nostalgia. Brings me back to the VHS days to the times when life seemed less aggressive and kinder. The world has changed so much since then. I can say it’s an escapism from the current insanity we are in right now

Such a fun movie. This is one of those movies you remember from the 80s. So much truth of what some family probably went through back in the 80s. The movie also looked great on Blu-ray. Plus the sound is perfect.

This is my favorite movie of the 80's and perhaps of all time. The slice of innocence the movie presents is priceless. The varied characters are well developed, masterfully acted, and leaves you connecting with them in a way that few movies do. Sixteen Candles is a movie that will be relatable in any decade.

John Hugh's was the Master of film. This is just another example of how well he could write and direct a movie. His humor is priceless and story telling ability is unbelievable. Sixteen Candles defines the feeling of being left out and just trying to fit in. You laugh you cry it is GREAT.

This is one of my favorite 80's movies along with Ferris Bueler's Day Off. Even though this constantly plays on TV, they edit out most of the funny stuff, so I had to buy the Blu-ray. If you are one of the few who never experienced this classic, buy it now!

A movie I will never get tired of watching. The Special Features menu could be better, but Finally a Hughes Blu-Ray with Special Features, which was lacking on DVDs up until the last DVD release of this title in the High School Reunion Set.

I had not seen Sixteen Candles for many years, and John Hughes did not fail to keep me entertained after all these years! I'm keeping my eye out for more John Hughes movies to go on sale to replace old VHS movies in my collection...

Loved this movie as a teenager and had to add to my library as an adult so I could show my niece and nephew and more importantly my mom who never watched when we were children. Still dream of a teenage romance like this.

I love this movie. Arrow did a great job. The interviews and extras are well worth a double dip if you love the movie and just have a standard dvd or blue ray.
