Comfortable to a Point but Sounds Awesome

The sound from this neckband headphone is incredible. Nice, clear sounds through the entire range. Battery life is decent. I can make it through the entire workday with typical use and not need to recharge. The default ear pieces kept falling out. There are a total of four different sized ear pieces to accommodate most ears and I found one that fits nicely. The vibration when you receive a phone call was startling at first. If you’re not use to neck pieces, try it before you receive a phone call. You’ll thank me later. The noise cancellation is flawless. I own a couple (($300+) noise canceling headphones and these perform either as well or better. But with the added benefit of size and a comfortable earpiece. I was able to comfortably listen to music in my living room with teenagers playing video games. Overall, these are comfortable. However, I have a thick neck and the neck piece fits snug against my skin. While this may be a positive point for some, I don’t like it. If you have a thick neck, I would recommend trying these in a store before purchasing. A bigger frustration than them touching me is the button accessibility while wearing. It is next to impossible to find and press the correct button. I’ve had to take them off every time I wanted to control the music. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

Nice Sound Quality and Comfort but Big Money

These earbuds are actually wired to a neckband, but from there on they are wireless. They paired instantly and effortlessly to my Moto phone. Call quality was pretty good. I found the bass a bit lean until I installed the recommended apps and had an equalizer to play with. Like any earbud, your bass may depend on the fit of the cushion in your ear. It was worth experimenting with. The controls are the usual tiny hard-to- see-or- feel things on a lot of new audio products. Once you turn it on and connect with a device you are better off controlling it all from the device. This review lacks the 5th star due to the fact that these should have been cheaper. They are real nice, but should be more affordable.

Just received my Sony WI-1000X Premium Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones, and wow they are amazing!!! The style and quality build of Sony is second to none. After fully charging them which took about 3 hours or so, I paired them to my Apple TV 4K box and fired up Netflix. Found a good movie and was impressed with the impeccable sound quality that flowed from these headphones. It was like I could hear every single sound in the background of the movie playing. Audio was crystal clear and loud. With the noise canceling feature it was as if I became part of the movie as all background sounds around me were gone. Very theatre-like. Paired them with my iPhone and music was great. Very comfortable ear plugs that didn’t slide or fall out like most other in-ear headphones that I’ve tried recently. Working out or going for a jog without worrying about these falling out should be fine. Made a few phone calls and was enamored with the amount of clarity that I was able to hear from my test calls. Inside the black casing (which I must say was a very stylish case) comes an instructional guide, along with a micro usb charging cable, a headphone cable, a plug adapter for in-flight use, additional earbud covers, and a carrying case to keep everything together.

So I have never owned a pair of active noise cancelling (ANC) sets so I was really excited to get my hands on these. I love the design. It's sleek and they look good. I have to say, ANC is great! It's definitely noticeable, and it makes studying much easier to get into a groove. Unfortunately, ANC is not at the point where it can cancel everything out but it does a heck of a good job. It cancels out white noise very well such as fan noise. It can cancel out quiet levels of conversation although it can be a little audible. Bose headsets have that weird pressure sensation. Some people may like it. Some may not. These sets do not have that! They did a good job of preventing that. You can adjust the amount of ANC with their app. The "ambient sound" mode is really cool. It allows for the surrounding sound to leak through. If you need to be aware of your surroundings or want to have a conversation, this is definitely cool. Admittedly there is a small hissing noise if you are not playing anything. It doesn't bother me and you can't hear it if you play anything but be aware. The sound profile is GREAT. For a set of ANC phones, these are great. I think they're one of the better if not best sound profiles. Definitely, pleasantly surprised by the sound profile and quality. Good highs. No extreme bass. You can also play with the settings on the app to get it where you want it. I had no problems with Bluetooth connectivity. It was easy to set up. Granted, something that I noticed people may not like is that it can only pair with 1 device vs other brands that can connect with 5. I didn't really care about this function but if it is something you care about then something to be aware of. The one reason that I would take off a star (and I wish I could do 4.5) is because for the price, you can buy a full set of ANC headphones. In my opinion, these earbuds are not as good as cancelling out the noise as high quality ANC headphones. I think for the money, ANC headphones are a better value.

Okay noise cancelling IF you get the ear buds inserted properly. I’ve previously used a pair of over-the-ear NC headphones, so I’m not sure that’s a fair comparison. First tried these when mowing and, I have to say, I was very disappointed. Honestly couldn’t tell the difference between NC on and off. That said, the 2nd time I mowed, I played with the positioning of the ear buds, and it made a significant difference. Although, that could have had as much to do with noise blocking as it did cancelling. Still not comparable to my other pair, but definitely better than my non-NC earbuds. It does come with several sets of earbuds, in three sizes and two styles. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding one that fits & is comfortable. Maybe it’s just me, but I find them more comfortable when I’m wearing them, in what I’d consider, upside down. Main neckband contains the battery & controls, and is quite comfortable. After wearing for several minutes, you hardly remember it’s there. Need to use the controls a few times before you remember where each is at, but simple enough after that. I’m going to call battery life acceptable, but not great. Can easily get through a day of listening to them at work, but you’d be pressed to get much more than that. Sound quality is probably typical of most earbuds, with marginal bass response. Nothing to brag about here. Overall, they’re good, but given the premium price tag, I can’t say I’d recommend them to a friend.

The Sony 1000x Premium Wireless Noise Cancelling Behind the Neck Headphones are a great set of bluetooth headphones. It seems to be made of quality materials and comes in a slim profile unlike other behind the neck headphones on the market that i have seen. I like the form factor a lot and barely notice them around my neck because of the light weight. Sound quality is top notch with this set of headphones paired with Noise Cancellation its even more of an experience. For it being in ear earbuds i did'nt think the noise cancellation would be as effective but it works just like my other pair of Sony cans. Kudos to Sony for that. There is also an app to control several features for the headphones. Earbuds are comfortable and it comes with several different size tips for personal preference, usb cable, and a cloth zip pouch for storage. Another neat thing you can do is push the earbud wires in along the base so you dont have wires dangling around. These are my new favorite set of earbuds!

There are three things that I consider when purchasing noise cancelling headphones. The first is the sound quality and these Sony headphones have really high sound quality. I have own Beats before and to me they are better. Second I look to see how well they cancel the sound. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical since they don't cover the whole ear, but they really did a very good job of cancelling the sound. I like to listen to music while I mow the lawn since it is usually a job that requires a good solid hour for me. These Sony headphones did a very good job of canceling out the sound from my lawnmower. Lastly, I want headphones that are comfortable. These headphones come with different options to choose from which enabled me to find the right fit for me. Overall, if you are looking for quality noise cancelling headphones that get the job done, you need to consider these.

Gets the job done, but a minor issue with the app

The 1000X Wireless Noise Cancelling Behind-the-Neck Headphones by Sony proves that you can have the best of both worlds when it comes to compact/lightweight and noise cancelling headphones. But as you can imagine, there is a bit of a limitation with these headphones. In order for the headphones to work properly, it is recommended to use the Sony Headphones app which allows you to control how the headphones adapt to your environment. This is where the noise cancellation comes into play. I was trying these headphones out on a recent flight, but ran into an issue using the Sony Headphones app. For some reason, when my data connection is not available, the app would instantly crashed. No matter if I tried to reset the application, restart my device, it would just continue to crash, even though it was just working fine. This was a problem since I couldn't properly fine-tune the headphones for the airplane environment I was on. Even then, the headphones did an good job of keep surrounding noises limited while I enjoyed my movie. The other issue I ran into and could be a big problem for other people is the in-the-ear headphone style. No matter what I did, I ended up causing some slight pain after using the headphones for an hour or two. Overall, a great Wireless Noise Cancelling Behind-the-Neck Headphones if you don't mind the occasional glitch and have a preference for in-the-ear style headphones.

Hi-Res Audio, Noise Canceling & Comfort!

These Sony 1000X headphones are the best behind the neck earbud headphones I’ve used to date. I was instantly impressed with the sound quality which rivals that of many over the ear headphones. The dual drivers really help to deliver crisp, clear sound that allows you to enjoy all the subtleties in your music. These headphones are optimized for hi-res audio with S-Master HX. I highly recommend you take advantage of the hi-res audio by either downloading some hi-res tracks and/or finding a subscription service that offers hi-res audio, you really can tell the difference and is worth it. The noise cancelling works amazingly well and is in a class of it’s own when paired with all of the features available through the app. There are many customizable options including “Smart Listening” and “Ambient Mode”. I haven't had a chance to experience the atmospheric pressure optimizing noise cancellation feature yet but I do travel frequently and look forward to using it on my next flight. The Sony headphones app is a must for these headphones. You don’t need it to operate them but you will want it for all of the features and options. The app includes the following options; Adaptive Sound Control, Ambient Sound Control, Noise Canceling Optimizer, Sound Position Control, Surround sound presets, Equalizer presets and control, music playing control, Sound Quality Mode, DSEE HX on/off, Standby with power saving on/off, Vibration for incoming call on/off. The headphones are nicely packaged and come with a fabric carry case, wired connection adapter, charging adapter and an airplane airline adapter. Also included are 7 earbuds total, 4 silicon and 3 foam, so that you can choose your fit and comfort. The carry case is square with a zipper running along 2 sides. It has a heavier shell fabric with a soft liner that includes a small pocket for accessories. It looks to be well constructed of quality materials. The headphones themselves are flexible so I think the fabric carry case is a good choice and easier to pack around. I really like the design of these headphones. They look great, are extremely lightweight and rest comfortably on my shoulders behind my neck. They are flexible with a medium soft rubber interior towards the front and a super soft pad along the back. The buttons are on the interior of the collar and are raised for easy touch location. Once you know where each one is located and what the symbol feels like, they are easy to locate with just a touch! The earbud wires press and wrap into crevices that run along each side of the collar, this helps to reduce the chance of pulling on the wires when stored. I’m extremely pleased with these headphones, a longer battery life would be nice but it’s definitely not a deal breaker considering everything else I’m getting. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for a new pair of wireless behind the ear headphones!

I use my head phones a lot over 2 hours a day while riding a bike indoors and watch movies and tv shows. My exercise bike is loud so I was looking for a head phone that had some good noise canceling capabilities. The Sony did not disappoint me. I ride a Schwinn Airdyne Comp that has a fan, the head phones had no problem blocking out the noise. So much so that I could lower the volume that I typically watch a tv show at. The ear buds stayed in place throughout the entire ride and I wasn’t sure if the neck piece would cause a lot of noise rubbing up against my neck, but to my surprise it didn’t. Even while exercising the neck piece only caused minimal noise compared to when sitting still. The harness helps prevent the cords from table up and ensures that the earbuds are set up so they won’t tug or pull when I was working out. The earbuds fit firmly in my ears, but they were comfortable. They did not fall out while I was riding my bike and sweating. I can’t say that for all head phones. I easily connected the headphones to my iphone 8 and to my LG OLED tv. The tv can finicky setting up Bluetooth devices and headphones, but the Sony connected to the TV without any problems. There's also the ability to adjust the sound position. It's a visual display where you can select whether you want the sound to come from; in front, front-right, front-left, rear-left, rear-right and headphone. This is another odd, but cool experience. When I select rear-right, for example, I could swear that I have a stereo with speakers behind my to the right blasting music. I half expected my co-workers to turn and look to see where the music is coming from. There's several preset surround sound settings as well. You have to choose sound positioning, surround sound or nothing. You can't have both for obvious reasons. I prefer concert hall as I feel that the sound is most rich. Arena really sounds like the recorded music is live. It's incredibly impressive. There's an equalizer function as well with multiple presets as well as the ability to fine tune custom presets to your own preferences. The only con for this ear phone is that it can only connect to one device at a time. If you need to switch the ear buds over to another device you have to disconnect it and reconnect it to the new device. I would highly recommend these ear buds if you are looking for excellent sound, tangle free and noise cancellation.

First impression the sound quality is good. Having it behind the neck after a while it started to annoy me, especially when working out. What was great is while working out the earbuds didn’t come out which has happened with other earbuds. I would only use these for a short time only because it’s behind the neck.
