I wanted to try these because I wanted something for the bus, but I didn't want to walk around the city with a headset someone could pull right off my head. Couldn't believe how well these noise cancel. If you get a good fit in your ear, these will noise cancel on par with headsets. I sit in the back of the bus, and when I throw these on the bus engine noise all but goes away, allowing me to listen to movies and music at a normal volume. Unlike headsets, you may have to push them in from time to time but so be it. As for comfort, I never notice the neck brace at all. I think Sony hit a home run with these.

No air pressure feel with the noise canceling, and with the fitted earbuds you get a great seal and even more isolation. Band is a little thick so the back of your neck may not like it. Battery lasts great and shuts itself off if disconnected from your device.

    My 2 Cents

Pros: 1. I love Ambient Mode. It acts as an augmentation to hearing things like a hearing aide. This mode picks up sounds that I don't normally hear like people talking near me and soft, subtle sounds. There are speakers receiving sounds at the other end of the ear pieces so if you tap on them, they are sensitive, so you can hear the input sound make a static sound like a mic. 2. Battery life will last a long time if you aren't talking a lot during a call or listening to music. If I have it set to Ambient Mode, it would probably last for 11 or more hours on a full charge. 3. Noise Canceling is ok, and it works by adding pressure to your ears so all that you hear is the music. It's unique. 4. Earplugs are comfortable and they don't make my ears itch. I typically keep them in my ears for 6 to 8 hours a day without issues. 5. you don't need to plug your unit into a computer to recharge the unit. It just needs a usb-type surchage protector/charger to recharge the unit. Sony typically supplies a charger with a usb-mini dp cord to charge their DACs and other products, and those products can be used to charge the unit. cons: 1. The neck part doesn't stay still. I typically find it shifting when i'm driving or moving a lot to the point where one end will hang on the back of my neck. 2. On the neck part of the unit, the back portion of the band scrapes on my shirt or jacket, and it scratches the material (metal-looking plastic). 3. If the unit isn't connect by BT to your phone, it will auto shutoff in roughly 5 minutes even with auto-power off is disabled. 4. I feel like this product will last at the most, maybe about 2 years. This product, i don't think it's a product or investment that's going to last a while, and it could break even faster if it is being used where you have to do a lot of body motions. It's made with a lot of rubber and plastic.

Great Overall Sound & Noise Blocking

The best features of these wireless headphones are the sound and noise blocking/isolation features. Its got overall great build quality. The only critical items i don't like are the slots to keep the earbuds out of the way, when not using. The configuration of the slots force the earbuds to dangle up in a weird way, to the point I don't even use them for that purpose. The other thing is the battery life is supposed to be about 10 hours, but I think its a little less. Nevertheless, the overall sound and noise cancellation more than make up for any negatives. Still I give it 5 stars.

This is the most high end pair of headphones I've purchased and have been blown. I work in a very noisy office environment and wanted something to help drown out the background. I don’t like over the ear style and these seemed to offer everything I was looking for and more. The noise cancellation features are incredible. All of the humming of the HVAC and general office noise nearly vanish. You can still hear people talking but it is so muted it isn’t an issue. You have the option of letting in some ambient noise if you need to be aware of what’s going on around you but still have the background sounds be a little softer. When using the ambient noise setting you can also set it up focus on people’s voices while again still quieting your surroundings. Since these are earbuds all of the noise cancelling wizardry relies on getting a good seal on the buds Sony included plenty of ear tips. Good news is these are on the comply standard so you can get even more if you need to replace them. Noise cancelling, two big thumbs up. The next feature which far exceeded my expectations was the Hi-Res audio. I feel like I’ve been starving my ears my entire life. The DSEE upscaling is noticeable for music you have on your phone. Taking it to the next level I upgraded my Spotify catalogue to Extreme Quality. It’s so clear. The notes are crisp. I generally listen to classical when working and it feels like in a private concert hall. Around the house I’ve been using these at night I can pump up the sounds and not disturb my neighbors. Rock, Rap, Country, it handles all genres. Great range from highs to lows and clear at any volume that my ears can handle. Also really impressed by the deep bass these offer. For when I’ve made phone calls it’s just as clear as being on my phone. The only drawback anyone could throw at these is the price. They aren’t cheap, but you absolutely get what you pay for with these. The build quality is great, battery life gets me through a few days, audio quality is like a feast for the ears, and the noise cancelling features are something I’ve never experienced like this before. If you want hi-res audio and noise cancelling without some huge cans on your head these are for you. Looking forward to trying these on my next flight!

The best I can get from market for now

The noise cancellation is one of the best. The hybrid unit gives the real Hi-fi sound. I don't know why people said the sound is not good, but my experience is the sound quality is almost good as the MDR-1adac with direct digital output. The Bluetooth support aptx, aptxHD and LDAC, I am using sony phone, I can get the LDAC which gives the full quality of the music wirelessly. When you compare iphone(SBC/ACC code) and LDAC or aptx, you can easily tell the difference (latency, sound field and sound quality). I don't know why apple never update the audio quality, maybe they just don't have the high quality music source. Only recently apple update the FLAC support for iphone, but with old bluetooth and no 3.5mm plug, what's the catch? On the other hand, after android 8.0, all android phone would be able to use this hi quality LDAC code for bluetooth thanks to sony's contribute of their work to google. The apps of sony headphones is great both iOS and android, this is the first time that I feel that I can control my bluetooth headphone completely. The battery is about 10 hours, it is enough for me. Charge it every night before I go to sleep. If can be longer, than that would be great. The price tag is much higher than normal headphone, but I think it's reasonable. I can't find any product which have both wireless hi-fi sound, noise cancellation and necklace design. If you want to try some noise cancellation in-ear headphone, or you are sony fan, or you want some real high quality wireless music, bite it, I think you will not regret. But before you try, you need choose the right size of the earbud to fit your personal condition. The only thing I want to comment is the micro usb charging port. "micro usb? micro usb?! micro usb!!, where is the type-c?!!"

Great pair of headphones the battery is large enough to last me a whole work day (8 hrs) at the very least. The extra settings such as noise canceling. My only gripe with the headphones is that the earbuds don't retract when not in use. My previous pair of headphones (Similar to these) could retract the wire/ headphones so that they wouldn't get in the way when not in use. Instead, this pair of headphones has a snap feature to the actual band that goes around your neck. it provides the same feature but it feels less secure.

I want these specifically for driving. We are going on a long trip. I tried many different headphones and earbuds. These had the best sound and features for what I wanted. 1. Battery life: It's awesome. The cost is you have the behind-the-neck portion that contains the battery. But, I didn't get these for activity, but driving. 2. Switch to pass through outside sound. If my spouse or kids want to talk to me, I can hit the button to pass through outside sound and don't have to take off the earbuds. 3. Sound, for earbuds, these have outstanding highs and lows. Most earbuds don't have the good lows. These do. I've also tried the air pods - these had much better sound. 4. Noise cancelling. Great for traveling in a car. In the end, they are a little pricey. I waited until there was a sale - finally happened so I grabbed them. Couldn't be happier with purchase.

I’m a big Bose fan for the sound but the casing on the QC 30 kept coming apart. I thought I’d give these a try and I think they actually sound better but the foam tips are not as comfortable as the Bose “stayhear”

I use these while cutting grass. The earpiece fits perfectly in my ear compared to Bose which did a good job but tended to fall out of my ear. I love the Bluetooth connection and pairing was easy. The app gas good optimizing features.

Bought these to use for airline travel. They have been terrific, especially for long flights. The noise control completely blocks out the airplane noise yet has a setting so you dont miss important announcements. The audio quality is superb. Three other family members bought these and love them too. I love the fact that they wrap around your neck and you don’t have to worry about losing them. So comfortable you will forget you have them on. Comes with several choices for ear plugs but the size already on it was fine. I used these for about 5 hours straight and there was no discomfort.

Nice overall sound. Does a good job of noise cancelling on a flight without the whole over the ear thing, pretty easy to use functions. Battery life is ok. Very much like the buds staying in my ears since the core weight is very light, plus they can’t go anywhere if they do fall out. Only knock on these is the housing could be nicer quality. Very “plasticy”. Overall good value except for that.

The Sony - 1000X are great headphones. It has great features I honestly wish the battery would last longer but I can't complain about them. They are very durable but no matter how well you take care of them eventually something may go wrong. The way the wires are stored eventually affect the wires but besides that, they are amazing headphones and have great sound.

Don't waste your time or money on low grade wanna-be hands free devices. Crystal clear calls, one push answering. One push battery range check, and perhaps most valuable, google assistant capabilities. Comes with multiple sets of ear buds so there is no too big or too small. Only just right. And if you want to geek out and customize your settings, there's an app for that. Only bummer I have found is I can not synch to multiple devices, and this is for my work phone, so now I don't even want to talk on my personal phone!

These headphones are amazing at blocking out sound. I use them all night, every night to block out my husband's snoring, which is as loud as a Harley Davidson in my bedroom revving as hard as possible all night long! I probably would not be sleeping in the same room as him by now if it weren't for these headphones. They are comfortable and the sound quality is excellent. I listen to meditation recordings, peaceful soundscapes and audiobooks all night. They are truly wonderful! You can turn off the noise cancellation as well...

It has nice sound but the unit does not stay centered on the neck. My biggest gripe is the control placements. The volume control, answer/play functions are on the inside of the stiff band which makes it difficult to use the controls. I was hopeful for this headset but just too much money for the features.
