    Treat Yourself

After 6 years of using beats wired OG solos, it was time for an upgrade! For the last year, every time I was in best buy I would test out the QC35s and the 1000x. Ultimately, it came down to ease of use. (Bose lost out, am I really going to take the time to figure out which button is play/pause or Google assistant or just control everything by a tap) The office I work in is an open floor plan, topped with White Noise so loud it starts grating on your last nerve. Not to mention loud talkers that sit on the other side of our waist high wall. $300 is DEFINITELY a commitment. The packaging was amazing! Love the case! Makes it incredibly easy to pack up and transport with a pouch on the back for access to cables. (One negative feedback is the charging cable is like 2", but chances you already have a longer charging cable for your phone) Since I use headphones 12 hours/day, 5 days a week I need comfort & stamina. I wear glasses, after many hours my beats would mash my glasses against my ear/head. With these, I don't even feel them! (After a a business week) I charged them as soon the voice lady said battery low. (Because I am.not sure if that means 20% or 2 hrs) 30 hours of charge is quite amazing! We all know, as soon as you put your earphones on, someone HAS to talk to you. You have the option of the quick attention, (putting your hand over the right ear cup) OR double tap the center for play/pause. (I was making a mistake of tapping once and thinking I had to tap it in the right spot lol) After a week of using these, I'm glad I made the switch! I'm in a sound cocoon (just as other reviewers have stated) I cannot hear the white noise, nor the loud talker. (I even made sure she was talking when i tested it out. All I heard was Peaky Blinders playing through my headphones) I downloaded the app, but honestly out of the box was set up perfectly for me so I haven't messed with any of the adaptive features. At work I mainly listen to Netflix/Amazon music, the play/pause worked perfectly with them. I tried Hulu, but the play/pause didn't work for it. My husband & I tested out the mic for calls. (Was not a selling point to me, just a cool feature to have) You can hear the other person perfectly even if they are whispering. (Note we were at home without background noise, when we tested this feature- calling from different rooms) The directions that came in the box say you can still use the headphones wired while charging (except the noise cancelling does not work, I haven't tried this yet) when you open the package you will have to charge them for about 4 hours. My friends at work cannot understand why anyone would pay $300 for headphones. Once they put them on they were amazed! One said it sounded like a movie theater & the ear cup controls had them in awe. Also keep in mind we have a "one ear bud" only policy at work. I have my right up on my ear & the left cup slightly off enough so I can hear if someone (mainly the big boss man walks by to test out talking to me lol) but even slightly off it's nearly perfect sound/noise cancelling for everything else. I don't want to leave my expensive headphones on my desk when I go to lunch, so I just put them round my neck and turn the cups down & honestly I don't even feel or notice them!(With my beats the cups would beat the side of my face since I couldn't turn the cups down. Or get right in the way of my mouth when talking to someone) Bottom line: get them! My 12 day FLIES by because I'm listening to netflix or dancing in my chair to music. 60 hour work weeks are packed with exciting movies/shows/music (No longer afraid of turning my head when my bff IMs me to turn around/roll over and jerking my wired headphones off or getting my wire wrapped around the chair arm or keyboard tray) Are there cheaper wireless alternatives? Sure, but you also get what you pay for. Those $30 headphones might be good for you, but you are definitely missing out on the sound & quality & ease of use! Going through 10 pairs of $30 headphones vs investing in an amazing pair! While you're having to open your drawer (we cannot have our phones out) to play/pause... I'm double tapping with ease ;) Also something I overlooked, you can pair with nfc (which I have on my Samsung s7 BUT honestly pairing was super simple the "normal" way- pair your headphones & turn the Bluetooth off/on your phone)- cool feature to have (honestly if it made the headphones cheaper definitely an option they could have left off- it's not prominently listed on their instructions- it's on the backside at the bottom) NOTE they are NOT for working out it states that in the instruction booklet not to have them in humidity

I was torn between these and the Bose QC 35s. I previously had a pair of Bose QC 25s and I felt it was time to upgrade to a wireless set. I love the noise cancelling (to me it sounded better the the Bose ones) and l also love the touch feature where you can swipe to control the volume and skip songs. Also, placing your hand on the right ear cup to hear what's going on around you or if someone is talking to you is great if you need to quickly be alert to what's happening around you. These feel great on my head and they do press a little bit more on my ears compared to the Bose headphones, but nothing significant that causes me fatigue or discomfort. The sound is awesome and I feel that the bass is stronger than the Bose headphones. Overall, I recommend these and I'm very happy with my purchase.

These headphones are amazing! I upgraded to these from the original Bose QC35's and these are much nicer! They are very comfortable, light and just feel better overall. I occasionally have issues with the tap control (pause, answer call, etc) but the swiping always works well. I will experiment and see if this is just due to the way I tap or something. The sound quality is outstanding and the noise cancellation is one of the best I've ever experienced. A great bonus with these is the adaptive noise cancellation as well as the fact that you can cycle between using noise cancellation, no noise cancellation or ambient sound, which uses the mic's on the headphones to let you listen to your music and still clearly hear what is going on around you. I don't use the ambient sound mode too often, but I can see it being very useful if you are crossing a lot of streets, or riding a bike and wearing these. I highly recommend these if you are willing to spend the money.

I've tried the Bose QC 35ii. I've tried the Bowers & Wilkins PX. I stayed with the Sony WH1000 M2. Bose is excellent in comfort and noise cancellation. But, the Sony App is what sold me, along with the sound and excellent noise cancellation. The comfort isn't that bad and the build quality is really good. I like the touch controls on the ear and again the ability to customize the sound to your liking is what did it for me. I do wish Bose could add that feature and since the Sony analyzes the environment constantly to provide excellent sound you just can't lose.

Won’t Ever Fly Again Without Them

I was hesitant to purchase these simply because of how much they cost but as I am flying more these days, I finally just did it. And I am so glad I did! They made a huge difference on our recent trip, allowing me to actually sleep on the plane, something I’m normally unable to do. I will readily admit that I did struggle a little with the controls simply because I purchased them just a few hours before our trip and only glanced at the instructions but that is all on me, not the headphones. I charged them before we left and used them on 3 flights going and 3 flights coming back for a total of approximately 15 hours without having to recharge them which was nice. My one minor complaint was that if I leaned my head (and therefore the headphones) against the plane, like when I was in he window seat, they picked up an unpleasant hum, from the plane I guess, which meant I had to be careful of how I positioned my head. Otherwise, they worked great. I also like that they fold fairly compactly into the nice, provided case to be easily stored in my carryon. So, yes, they were investment but one that I don’t regret in the least.

These were my first pair of noise canceling headphones, and I'm absolutely satisfied. I remember trying on the Bose QC's a little while ago and found the noise canceling really uncomfortable. It felt like my ears were plugged and made me a little dizzy. Not sure what could've caused this with the Boses, but I did not have that problem at all with these. It just sounded like everything just got really really quiet, which is amazing. Sound quality is superior, as well, plus they're very comfortable and battery life is amazing. Love these.

Sony has seriously knocked this out the park!

If you are familiar with the Sony MDR-1000x you are aware that those were widely regarded as the best wireless noise cancelling headphones you can buy. They were an interesting mixture of cutting edge technology, superb sound and functionality. The 1000x gave you the ability to quickly hear your surroundings with a simple palm cup gesture on the right side of the headphone which became invaluable to a lot of people including myself. The noise cancelling was a first to truly challenge the throne Bose's headphones have sat on for years. Some said the 1000x's were better, some said the Bose QC35 was better, but honestly at the end of the day, the 1000x had stunning noise cancelling. Not only can you be transferred away into a silent cocoon as you ride the train or bus to work, you can also reverse that with ambient sound to hear everything around you or primarily just voices if you prefer. There is also the noise optimizer which allows the headphone to analyze your hairstyle, head and ear anatomy, whether you are wearing glasses or not and now with the 1000xm2, pressure levels around you to ensure the perfect audio experience regardless of your surroundings. With the new 1000xm2, everything that made the 1000x so stellar has remained; however, flaws have been fixed. One of my main gripes with the 1000x was the poor microphone for calls. It did not have noise cancelling for the microphone and as a result everything around you was piped into your audio going towards to people on the other end of the phone call. This resulted in constantly being asked "are you in a tunnel?" "I can't hear what you're saying, it's too loud where you are"... Thankfully the 1000xm2 has "secretly" fixed this issue and now you are crystal clear when speaking over the built in microphone for calls. Another grip was that the inner lower part of the headband would crack even after normal usage. I can't judge yet, but the new material on the 1000xm2 do seem more durable and also aesthetically more pleasing with a gunmetal look as opposed to the pure black of the 1000x. As for sound, I honestly don't hear much of a difference and I am not disappointed at all because the 1000x already sounded superb. Noise cancelling also seems to perform roughly the same with the same very, very faint hint of white noise from the noise cancelling processing. As soon as music is played at even the lowest volume you won't hear it anymore. There is a new pressure optimizer that detects the air pressure levels around you. This is great for when you are 20,000ft in the sky flying to another destination as this will alleviate any deviations from the sound that can be caused by this. However, if you are usually always at ground level, it wont make a difference to you. This extra analyzation is summoned during the noise cancelling optimization that can be performed by pressing and holding the now duo button responsible for both noise cancelling and ambient sound. Also, through the new app you can summon the optimization. The same touch control interaction allowing volume up and down, play and pause, skip forward/fast forwards, skip backward/rewind, voice assistant activation, call pick up/hang up and transfers remains but it does seem more responsive. Also, the texture of the cups are more tactile and feels more grippy as you swipe you fingers across it. The new Sony headphone app shows you the headphone that is currently connected as well as the battery life and what current bluetooth codec is being used. Also, it displays Sony's DSEE status and if it is active or not. DSEE claims to restore some of the lost upper treble presence and detail lost by lossy audio codec compression. I am not sure I hear a difference, but I don't hear any audio quality degradation keeping it on so why not leave it on I guess. Also in the app you can control spatial cues and surround sound presets as well as tinker with an EQ that has presets along with the ability to customize your own. You can also toggle on how the ambient sound feature works when activated. You can switch between running, walking, sitting or on a vehicle or let the app have access to your phone's accelerometer and adjust automatically. Another cool thing the apps allows is the ability to put the 1000xm2 into a sound quality or stability mode. Sony bluetooth headphones can do this already, but through button patterns on the headphone's themselves. Sound quality mode forces the headphones to connect via the best bluetooth codec the headphone and source itself can support together. Stable connection mode resorts the headphone to SBC bluetooth which offers not optimal sound, optimal connectivity strength. The accessories included are a standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable incase you want to go wired in the event that your battery dies. A micro USB cable is also included for charging. In terms of charging... You can get 70 minutes of use from only 10 mins of charging now and the battery lasts a whopping 30 hours with everything turned on. A 50% increase over the 1000x... Nice! As you can see, Sony really sealed the deal on this one. I don't see any reason to get the new Bose QC35 II or Beats Studio Wireless 3 or anything else out now over the 1000xm2. If you are pondering on whether to purchase these, just stop and buy them now. You will not regret it!

    My First Noise-Cancelling Headphones

I am neither an audiophile nor a headphone expert. I care about looks and brands, and these look great. Given the amazing reviews these headphones had (as well as the QC35s), I think I probably expected too much. I assumed that noise-cancelling headphones made everything completely quiet, and that's not the case. You can definitely still hear a lot of muffled noise (someone had mentioned cranking up the TV volume and not being able to hear it, and I don't think I believe that). I still think the technology is really cool, as there is definitely a huge difference when toggling through the different modes. Once you have music playing, it helps drown out whatever sounds aren't being filtered out by the noise cancelling technology anyway. After I adjusted my expectations, I found these headphones to be really great. I have had problems with over-ear headphones hurting my ears after extended use before, but I wore these for hours with no problems. I thought the cupping your hand over the right ear feature was going to be gimmicky, but I have actually used it a lot more than I thought I would. One thing that I either don't like or need to spend more time figuring out is that the headphones automatically identify what activity you are doing. For example, if you have them set to cancel all noise when sitting down, then you get up and walk around, it will turn on ambient noise. This is fine, but when I saw back down, they wouldn't change back to noise canceling mode automatically. When I would look at the app, it would say I was still walking around, even after a long time of sitting down. I decided to turn this feature off and change modes manually.

Amazing sound. Highs are crisp, vocals are sibilant, lows are deep. Good solid bass. Very comfortable to wear for long listening sessions. Sound cancellation is amazing. Cupping one hand over the earcup electronically mikes in conversation with ease...absolutely brilliant. Why no one thought of this before is beyond me. 100% recommend. Try this and the top of the line over the ear Bose headphones side by side...

They do everything the reviews say they will. They are comfortable, have excellent sound and perform well, rarely drop a connection. My wife has Bose 35’s which are about equally good, a touch lighter and very comfortable but I prefer the touch controls on my Sony’s and I think the noise cancelling is a bit better. Both are excellent but I am a little more attached to my Sonys than her Boses.

I would first like to acknowledge the fact that the first headphones I ordered from BestBuy online were Sennheisers. Those were shipped promptly from BestBuy and I had them within two days of placing the online order-great! Got those headphones, wasn't super impressed with the noise canceling, did a little more online research, took those back to the local BestBuy and bit the bullet and bought the Sony headphones at about twice the price. Super easy and great BestBuy service! Now, to the Sony: I LOVELOVELOVE THESE HEADPHONES! I'll admit I am super cheap and doing the primary research I thought the Sennheisers were going to work for me. But, there is no comparison between these two headphones. The noise canceling on the Sony is very good. I wore them for about four hours right after I brought them home and had no ear discomfort or fatigue at all. I am not very technically savvy, I just know what feels good and sounds good; these headphones are the real deal! I got the "champagne" color and I really like it; that color doesn't seem to show white dog hairs (of which I have many on black items) and they blend in well with blonde/grey hair. The headphones are lightweight and don't feel cumbersome on my head. I love that I can wear them for hours while binge watching Netflix and not feel that I have to switch to earbuds. The noise canceling is adjustable and can adapt to your conditions, whether in your home or in a plane. I know I will like this feature when traveling. The SOUND is phenomenal!! So clear and I like the adjustments you can make on the app. The case is sturdy and I think it will protect my investment when I travel. If you do your research, in this price range (around $350), the two main competitors are the Bose QC 35II and these Sonys. Most reviewers say the Bose are a little more comfortable, but I'm not sure how they are more comfortable than these Sonys; maybe it's my head shape and size that is so amenable to the Sony. However, most reviewers say sound quality and noise control is superior on the Sony; I did not buy the Bose to try at home, so I can't say how those stack up to Sony. I never got any further than giving the Sony a good workout at home! I usually buy each of the things I want to compare and say I'll take back the one I don't like as much; in this case, I don't feel the need to look any further than Sony. Unless I want to spend a lot more than $350, I am certain I am not going to find anything more comfortable, with better noise canceling and better sound. I am one happy customer: BestBuy is great to order from and great to exchange with and Sony makes a top-tier product. Rock on!

I love my sony headphones. I use them for literally any chance I am able to. Some of the features that it includes is an ambient sound feature that uses the headset’s mic to pick up voices and subtle sounds like cars, but not in a bad way! This feature kills the “Extra” sound from the outside and makes things a little easier on the ears. The noise canceling feature is in my opinion why I chose these headphones over the Bose Quiet control, some people say bose has better noise canceling, but to be these are better. The headset also has a touch friendly earcuff that lets you scroll through songs, answer calls, toggle volume up and down, etc. AND has a outside noise speach features that allows you to listen to people talk by covering your right ear cuff entirely with your hand. Kinda makes you feel like a secret agent when easedropping haha. The only problem i have with the headset is that sony made a product that won’t connect to the PS4 as a gaming headset. The Aux cable provided by sony does not have a built in Microphone, so I had to buy one seperately to use for gaming VIA PS4. And that is pretty much the only reason why it loses a star. Otherwise it would be the perfect headset! 9/10

Bought these for the ANC to be used for cubicle office work and long (14+ hour) flights. Very, very pleased with the quality of the noise cancellation (drone of aircraft engines and outside-voice children both damped very well, though not completely) I was surprised to discover these were comfortable enough to have on for most of a 15 hour flight, even got some sleep in with them on. Not an audiophile, so I can't comment on soundstage. That said, I've found the audio quality to be fine for my standards. The only thing I've struggled with a little is the touch sensitive controls on the right earcup. In particular the 'cover to let in ambient sound' gesture is a bit hit-and-miss. I had an opportunity for an extended trial of the QC35 mk 1s, but picked up these, on faith, after reading some comparative reviews, and I'm happy to say I made the right choice picking the Sony's

After reading many positive reviews for these Sony WH1000XM2 headphones on various web sites and on this site, I decided to purchase it. I got these headphones two days ago and there is one word I can describe it: Awesome! These headphones are so much better than my previous headphones (Beats Studio Wireless). After using these headphones, I will never go back to Beats. Everything sounds cleaner and clearer than Beats (with no distortion). You can easily hear all of the instruments while listening to music. One of my favorite things about these headphones is the Sony Headphone Connect app. With this app, I can adjust the noise cancellation and equalizer. I love a lot of bass in my music. I adjusted the "clear bass" in the equalizer to the max setting (+10). The bass is punchy and smooth. Best of all, the bass doesn't distort or drown out the music. The option to customize the settings was the deciding factor for me. I was previously considering purchasing the Sennheiser HD1 Wireless, but not anymore! Try out these headphones. You won't be disappointed!

I bought these after researching replacements for my Beats Solo Wireless headphones. I looked at over-ear noise-cancelling headphones from Beats, Bose, B&W and this Sony set was the best overall choice. They are lightweight and comfortable, the noise cancelling is excellent and the sound quality is great (and customizable using the app). Wearing these headphones makes it sound like you’re listening to music in a quiet room, so you don’t have to turn them up to drown out ambient noises—like office chatter, loud office HVAC fans, airplane noises, etc. My old Beats set hurt my head by clamping my ears down, and I physically couldn’t wear them more than a couple hours. This Sony set can be worn all day, you kind of forget you’re wearing them until you take them off. Great sound, great value, great headphones!

I am a Bose fan!!! I purchased the QC35 and kept them for about 2 weeks. I tested them in every loud environment that I could, bus, train, kids, car radio, etc. The QC35 allowed more noise leaks than I cared for and there wasn’t much control over the NC or EQ. I returned them and purchased the Sony 1000xm2’s. OMG! As much as I wanted to hate them and love stay loyal to The QC35’s I couldn’t. Sony is superior in terms of sound quality, noise canceling, battery life, features and the mobile app. Don’t just take my word for it, check the YouTube reviews. If it’s any consolation Bose, I still love my Soundsport earbuds. :-)

I would be honest with you guys, I wouldn’t haven’t rated them 5 stars if I hadn’t bought them at black friday price. Sony 1000XM3 are already in the market and they’re better than the already brilliant XM2’s in every aspect. But then I got them @ Best buy’s black friday price and I couldn’t be happier. They’re more than worth what I paid for them. I’m a guy who listens to lot of different genres of music and I prefer headphones that give me a flat accurate sound rather than bass biased sounds. Contrary to these Sony Headphones will provide a deep thumping but clear bass along with clear highs but without muddy mids. I’ve compared them side by side with Bose QC35 and Sony wins the sound game hands down, arguably in every genre. Bose headphones do produce pretty accurate sounds but the highs seem to crack pretty often. Xm2’s on the other hand will give a mesmerising listening experience without being distracted by the cracking trebly sounds. With that being said, Bose QC 35 look more appealing, offer a superior build quality and more comfortable ear cups. But then Sony makes up for that with the all cool touch gestures, insane battery life, at par noice cancellation ( at times better) and clear mesmerising non cracking sound. If you wanna get these, now is the time during black friday sale. For $199 they’re a steal. Otherwise XM3’s are better of course.

I guess 99% of people will be looking at reviews to compare new Sony 1000X mkll with Bose QC35. Here is my verdict: this year Bose has lost completely. I was expecting QC35 to catch up with all features Sony has but the only thing they (Bose) did is added google assistance. Seriously? If you looking for a wonderful sound quality, great active noise canceling and long battery life then your choice is definitely Sony. You also get amazing touch control. 40 hrs of battery life! That’s a real step forward. The only category I’d rate Bose higher is the comfort. They are more comfortable indeed. But at the same time wearing my new Sony for 5 hrs straight I did not feel any discomfort. So, if you still in doubt what to buy - buy Sony and you will not regret.

I've owned several pairs of Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) headphones over the years - Philips, Bose, and Definitive Tech - and I've felt like each new pair was incrementally better than the last. Not a striking difference, but a noticeable one - though it's always possible that it was confirmation bias. As a pair of headphones (w/o ANC), the sound quality is above average. Not quite as good as most Grados (my favorites), but the highs are silky and precise, and the bass is tight and punchy. The noise cancelling feature is pretty solid - in most cases I hear nothing but the intended sound - but the most impressive part is that the sound quality does not seem to be affected by using ANC. So if you're planning on using these in a noisy environment, you're likely to get caught up in what you're listening to - it's that good. All of my other ANC cans sounded a bit flat with ANC on, so this unit stands out. In addition to the ANC quality, there are also some excellent ANC features in the mix. The Sony Headphones Connect app lets you adjust the EQ, surround effects, and ANC levels. You can adjust the ANC separately on each side, and you can set ambient noise settings for different activities (ie, walking vs riding the train). There's a feature that compensates for atmospheric pressure on a flight, but I haven't used it yet. And I love the ability to temporarily turn off the ANC on one side simply by cupping my hand over the ear cup. Operation and build quality are terrific. The headphones are solidly built and the touch controls are easy to identify and sensitivity is balanced. The battery life is incredible - I've run out my older headphones on an 8 hour flight, but these lasted me through 20 hours riding in a car with charge to spare. If you're looking for ANC headphones, these are the ones. By far the best price/feature/quality mix out there.
