So I’ve been on a long hunt for wireless noise cancelling headphones
I ended up settling with these.
The app is easy to use and setup your headphones
The headphones themselves perform very well. I took a trip just the other day and they cancelled out the noise Fairly well, but I don’t have a true comparison basis. Apple ear buds and other brand ear buds are all that I had prior.
I didn’t read the directions well enough so it’s my own fault as to how to operate the touch panel on the side.
Overall, sound quality is great, in my opinion, it did the job and was definitely more comfortable than my previous ear buds and or headphones
Use would be for watching apple tv in bed (wife wants to kill me with tv volume) and travel

By far the best headphones on the market. They have a great fit and around the ears has a comfortable fit. I don't get sore from long hours of usage around the jaw line. Sound is amazing with NC on. Very durable on the headband. Battery life definitely top tier compared to other high end headphones.

I bought these after trying several pairs of Bose, Beats, and the B&W H9s. The noise canceling is fantastic - in Best Buy on Black Friday, these tuned out everything, sounded great, and were comfortable to boot. The app makes customizing them a breeze, and I love how the headphones work passively if I run out of battery. Only complaint I’d that the case doesn’t have space for the cable if needed, but it has space for the airline adapter...?!?!

I had these headphones for about a year before they stopped charging and had a low battery life. I never had any problem with them other than the issues with the battery later on in its life. I love them a lot, they're really comfortable and the sound quality is great. After a lot of research, I decided on these ones because of the high battery life and the noise cancelling. I normally only wear them when I'm at my desk in an office, and I have the noise cancelling on all the time. I think the only annoying thing is the swiping control panel: sometimes I go to change the volume and it detects my swipe as skipping forward/backward to another song/video. Other than that, I've never had any technological issues with these, and think that they're super easy and simple to use. Overall, I really love these headphones and I think that they're worth the investment if you're looking to get a good pair of noise cancelling headphones.

I bought these headphones recently for my birthday and wanted to upgraded from wired to wireless but also enjoying a better noise cancelling feature and sound and I was not disappointed.
Everybody knows airplane are very loud but my trip to France made this purchase even sweeter. Noise Cancelling feature is pretty good and I am not sure what people are expecting but this is not going to block 100% of your surrounding noise but make the airplane sound 90% quieter . I was able to get several hours of sleep and kept them the whole trip (8h and 10h straight)..They are very comfortable and well built. They seems to have fix the hinges issue. You are getting also a nice hard case for storage. Like every headphone you are folding, you have to take care of it and be gentile with it and you will have no problem. The sound is also very good. I used for movies and music and they sounded loud and clear.
I charged them only 1 time . Very good purchase

Been a bose QC Guy forever. Needed to upgrade to get Bluetooth. These things rock. The control on the right ear for volume, phone, next, and fast forward is genius. Also covering the right ear turns off NC handy in a plane when the stewards ask you questions. Supper comfy too!

Sound quality on the original MDR-1000X was top notch for this type of over-ear Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphone. In fact, some like its sound better than the Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones.
But i've tried both and they sound just as good, and Sony has great features....the only draw back with Sony is the fit. Bose fits smaller head a whole lot better than the Sony. So i chose Bose due to my small head size.

Less boomy than the MDR-X950BT

I replaced my MDR-X950BTs and Bose QC ear buds with these and they have been great so far. Definitely spend some time getting to know the features and the Adaptive Sound Control. Your music will get interrupted every now and then with a tone and that means the mode has changed. The hand over the right ear cup attention mode is pretty fantastic. The touch controls other wise will take some getting used to, you can bump them pretty easily taking off and putting on the headset.
Aside from that the sound is much less boomy than the 950s as I expected and really goes back to that more neutral Sony headphone profile, which I much prefer. For me, Sony's have always had a very long endurance listening sound profile. Detailed, good mids, not too bright, not too boomy. These are the best I've owned from Sony so far. If you have had Sony headphones and like them, you will like these. If you own other headphones and are looking for a bit more balanced sound without losing all the bass, give these a try.
And finally, the noise cancelling is as good as anything else I've used. The Bose do produce a little bit of pressure and I think these do a little better, also though I still feel it. The level of NC is adjustable so if they get uncomfortable, just pull up the app and customize it to your personal preference. The effectiveness of noise cancelling combined with the flexibility of the NC system on these headphones has made these headphones very pleasant to use.

Industry's Best

These compete directly with the Bose QC35 II which are generally regarded as the industry leader. However, Sony stepped it up with these headphones. The noise cancelling and the audio quality are both better than the QC35 II. A friend of mine with Bose headphones actually returned his for these because he enjoyed the audio quality in these better. Sony's mobile app will allow the headphones to connect using different encoding schemes which would provide better audio quality. The microphone can have trouble picking up your voice during calls but these aren't really meant for that. One of my favorite features is the mobile app's equalizer. It provides a couple of presets and 3 custom configurations.
The downside to these is that they aren't as comfortable as the Bose headphones (only by a bit) and they do take some time to break in. During the first week I couldn't keep these one for more than 3 hours straight before they hurt my head. After two or three weeks though, they were comfortable and I stopped experiencing discomfort during extended listening sessions.
All in All, really good headphones. At this pricepoint they aren't the best in audio quality (because thats not what they're for) but they still sound really good if you're not an audiophile. What you're paying for here is their amazing noise-cancelling abilities. I use these while studying and working.

I am a little bit of an audiophile and I was debating between these and the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 ii and I ended up with these after testing them both in the store. I feel like the sound on these was fuller and I really like the controls on the side of the ear cups. The Bose were lighter weight and I think win out in comfort because you almost don’t even notice them. But I think the Sony’s are super comfortable too and I’m not disappointed in them. Also I had read some reviews on amazon that these were prone to cracking - so far so good for me and I’ve had them a few months now. They feel sturdy and would be surprised if they crack. I don’t feel like I have to be so careful with them that I can’t bring them around with me. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Best wireless headphones

I was looking for wireless headphones for my work and seriously considered Sony 1000X vs. Bose QC 35. While I was watching so many reviews, I found Sony just updated the 1000X, so I jumped into WH 1000XM2! I tried on both 1000XM2 and Bose QC 35 and honestly think that both are great headphones. Sony 1000XM2 has more features and longer battery life so I am very content with my purchase.
#Features
The touchpad is not a new feature but it is worth mentioning since Bose does not have this feature. Swipe up or down to control the volume. Swipe right or left to change the music. It is very intuitive and easy. You can even press long to activate Siri. Double tap to stop music or take a phone call.
Also, you can cup the right ear and disable the noise canceling and listen to others.
You can check the battery level by the home screen of a smartphone. I have only seen even numbers such as 100%, 70%, and 50% (then I would charge so I have not seen low numbers because of the reason). Maybe the headphone cannot tell the battery level precisely.
#Bluetooth connection
Bluetooth connection is great. I can leave my phone and go to next room without breaking the connection. Switching the devices is not easy though. With Bose, you can connect two devices at the same time. However, with 1000XM2, you need to disconnect one device to use other device.
To switch the device (updated)
1. Go to setting. Bluetooth, then disconnect WH-1000XM2.
2. Go to the other device, hit setting, Bluetooth, then click to connect.
If you don't want to touch the device connected currently but wans to switch the device (for example, 1000XM2 is connected to iPad that is in your bag and you don't want to pull it out), you can
1. Turn off the 1000XM2
2. Turn on and keep pressing power button to activate bluetooth pairing.
3. Go to your device you want to connect. Hit setting, bluetooth, then connect to 1000XM2.
Honestly, I don't mind doing this but I wish we could connect two iOS devices at the same time.
#Noise canceling
Sony and Bose are both excellent noise cancelling (NC) headphones. While QC35 cannot turn off the NC, 1000XM2 can turn of NC. Previous 1000X had a problem with phone call where you cannot hear yourself (so you end up shouting). Sony has fixed this problem and now 1000XM2 let you hear your voice easily with voice focus mode. Making phone call is much easier now.
#Sony headphone connect app
This app allows you to change the setting of NC based on your activity. You can pre-set the level of NC + voice focus according to your activity (rest, walking, running, and transportation). For frequent fliers, it can adjust the pressure too. You can also change where the sound comes from. For example, you can set as if the sound comes from your back.
When I was using 1000XM2 in the office, I used voice focus mode. It was very interesting experience because I did not hear any noise from construction etc but I heard my coworkers voice. Voice is picked up from the mic so it is an interesting experience.
#Gorgeous look
It honestly looks fantastic. I usually pick the black color but I tried gold at this time. The case of headphone had two-tone color (gold in the middle). It looks great. Please look at attached pictures as it tells you more how nice it looks. The headphone has hinges so you can actually make it very small and put it into the case.
#Sound
I cannot speak too much about the sound because I am not a professional musician. However, in my opinion, it sounds absolutely nice. It sounds even better than Bose QC35 but it is just my opinion. With the connect app, you can also change the sound effect such as Arena, Club, Outdoor Stage, and Concert Hall. It is subjective so you might want to try it before you buy, but I am very much satisfied.
#Comfort
This is where BOSE QC35 (quiet comfort) comes into play. WH 1000XM2 is comfortable but I feel my ears are hot after using this for 1 hour. The pad is touching my ears with 1000XM2 whereas QC35 has deeper ear pad. QC35 is much more comfortable for me.
#Sturdy design
I know cracking was the problem with 1000X. So far, it has been OK but I will definitely give updates after using several months (hope nothing will happen). It looks very sturdy and does not make the clicking sound when I open the headphone.
So which one you should buy? I am very happy with 1000XM2 because it has many features and long battery life (30 hours!). However, you may want to try it on before you buy because BOSE is more comfortable.

Great headphones, noise canceling is head and shoulders above Bose QC35 Mark II. Sound quality is also better. Even passive isolation is better than bose. For my head, these are super comfortable.
The only thing that is bad is that these headphones do not support being simultaneously connected to two devices like the Bose or other headphones do. I have no idea why Sony has not included this functionality in the Mk2 edition of 1000X. I think I am going to return these and get the QC35 Mark II instead.

I've had both the Sony 1000X and Bose QC35. Sony bluetooth pairs to all Android and IOS devices quicker and easier. I find Sony more comfortable after long periods of use. I find Sony noise cancelling on airplanes more effective. The gestures / features (pause, forward, backward) to be more intuitive. Highly Recommended.

Reviewed the QC 35 and the 1000MX side by side. The Sony wins in terms of clean Bass, features, mobile phone customization, touch surface ability for controls. NS is slightly weak than the Bose.
Bose: More comfortable to wear over the sony during long usage. Noise canceling is slightly stronger than Sony.
I owned the Bose for 2 years and after switching to Sony and doing the custom sound configuration, I am very please with the Sony and also surprised Sony has this level of quality now. For the longest I never use to purchase Sony headphones for varies reason such as too much treble, over basssed, lack of features, weak NS. But now, they have stepped up their game ten fold.

Okay so today I’m writing two reviews.
I purchased these Sony headphones to replace my Beats Studio2 Wireless that I have had for almost four years.
The headband cracked and even though I fixed it recently I still wanted to upgrade because I needed another set of headphones.
So right away you see that everyone is rating these headphones 5 stars, I can understand that everyone perceives excellent as something different.
For me music has been my life since I was 14. I produce music and DJ as well.
The Sony’s have great noise cancellation. But the audio while clear and crisp with decent bass I found that the bass was almost a fake representation of what the song actually sounded like because it was more of a rumble instead of a punch.
The pair I bought also had a creaking noise on the right side of the headband every time I picked them up and put them on.
This could just of been my pair but being the previous generation of this model had headband cracking problems that kind of worried me.
Also Sony’s customer support is not that great from my past experience.
So with those two things I can honestly say they weren’t for me.
All of the smart features on it and great battery life might be enough for most but I just felt like they were just a gimmick.
I hope to help anyone considering these headphones know what to listen for and look for when trying them out.

I've had my eyes on the Sony 1000x headphone series ever since its introduction to the market last year. The features are all the bells & whistles that make their headphones unique from the competitors. The good I like about these headphones are the audio quality, noise cancelling, and the intelligent Ambient Sound functions.
The only slight downside I have about this competing against its main rival is the comfort and weight. These headphones are an ounce heavier and the ear cups does form some heat up over a period of time. It's not enough to dissuade people from getting these headphones, but I believe there can be some improvements made for comfort for next year's model.

Debated over the Bose Q35 vs Sony M2 and pull the trigger on the M2 because latest features like touch controls, and also cup the right side and it cancel the noise cancellation so that you can talk to folks instead of having the noise cancellation on all the time on the Bose Q35.
