Sony 30mm f/3.5 Macro Lens is Great Buy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Sony 30mm f/3.5 Macro Lens to use with my Sony a6000 mirrorless digital camera: I love close-up photos. The lens is light and offers full functionality with my a6000 - another reason I chose this lens. Additionally, the price (slightly less than $300) fit my budget. I was not disappointed. The Sony 30mm f/3.5 macro lens provides clear sharp images (please see accompanying photos). Of course, because the focal distance is much shorter than non-macro lenses you have to get very close to the photo subject, Practice is needed to capture the desired images. Also, this macro lens, as with most macro lenses, is difficult to use if your subject moves a lot - butterflies, for example. But, it can be done; just know it takes a lot of patience. Although I haven't personally used it for a portrait lens, I understand it does a good job for those situations. Overall, I am happy with the Sony 30mm f/3.5 macro lens.

Nice entry level macro lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an A5100 and would like to try macro photography. I got this open box + $50 gift certificate so it's quite an incentive for me to buy it. About the lens Pro The lens is quite light and it came with a hood. It can capture bugs that don't move. Cons You have to be real close to the subject to get a macro picture. Hopping bugs would jump by the time you get close to it.

Posted .Hi val8888, this lens has a short focal length thus the need for the user to get closer to his subject to capture it. I would recommend trying the SEL90M28G which is a telephoto macro lens for this type of shots. Thanks_Mitch

Outstanding macro lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Sony 30mm Macro lens primarily to shoot flowers with my A6000. This combination has worked very well and I have taken a number of exceptional shots with it. I have been very pleased with the image quality as well as the close focus capability. I have also found the 30mm to be a useful walk around lens. I have uploaded a couple of sample pictures as they came from the camera.

great budget-friendly macro
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lens pairs perfectly with my Sony a6000! SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT by the way... Helpful tip: just keep in mind - you'll likely need a TRIPOD to use this lens to reduce camera shake.

Great for Macro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this lens hoping to use it as a Macro AND a portrait lens but it's not that great for portraits, unless you want to be inches away from your subjects' face. As for macro, it takes fabulous photos, but again, you've got to really get up close and personal with your subject, so be ready!

Great Lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is probably one of my favorite lenses. It does macro shots very effectively. Auto focus is a bit sloppy, but DMF and MF works perfectly with this lens. I attached a photo of my ice cream cone to this review.

Looking to enlarge your small subject?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just got this lens about two weeks ago. This lens is outstanding, I used it for photos and video. I do toy photography and product photography. It pulls up very fine details from at least five inches from the subject. Highly recommended for small items.

Decent macro for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive gotten some decent shots with this lens. There is definitely a learning curve to it as it does not have OSS and depending on your focus mode can be all over the place as far as focus goes. If i had the money i would have opted for the 90mm macro lens. Once I learned the quirks of it you can really take some nice shots.

AMAZING AND AFFORDABLE MACRO LENS!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I would love to get into the world of macro photography but cannot afford to purchase the incredible Sony FE 90mm macro lens, I began to research affordable, but sharp macro lenses. After watching many YouTube videos I decided to purchased this Sony 30mm f3.5 macro lens for my Sony A6000 and am amazed at the sharp detail that it captures and how close you can get to what you are trying to photograph! It also gives you great bokeh/background blur which keeps the attention on your subject. This silver lens is more of a platinum silver just so you know, and is lightweight and very well made. I encourage you to watch some YouTube videos so that you can see just how amazing this lens really is at such an affordable price! You can also use it for much more than just macro photography. Here are two of many videos that convinced me this was well worth purchasing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1Y7_DoaiGE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMrjC-97T1Y

GREAT Macro & Street Lens
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The macro performance is amazingly sharp and precise, but this lens also shines as a simple street lens. Quick focusing, sharp color separation and short profile make it perfect for quick snaps while out and about without the wide-angle look of a proper landscape lens. It doesn't have a large enough aperture to be a good low-light lens, but it'll do pretty well with the ISO jacked up a little more than normal. Good construction, feels sturdy and the manual focus ring has a nice, solid grip to it. The attached photo was just a quick shot to see how it performed without a tripod in natural light. No image manipulation at all. Great lens.

Great macro lens for Sony E platform
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a light macro lens that allows very nice close-up macro photos at a close range. The autofocus is fast, however not as fast as the dedicated lens that came along with the Sony a6000 camera. However they pair nicely and without any problems. I am able to shoot in macro and non-macro modes and good portraits and landscape shots as well. I would recommend a protective UV lens filter to prevent any scratches. Best Buy provided fast and free shipping which was great as well. Overall, very happy with the purchase and recommend this as a macro lens for Sony.
