Like everything these days, It had a lot of functions that can't be accessed from mechanical switches so a remote is absolutely required. Although this remote did not have dedicated/labeled buttons for the advanced functions, it would learn them from the original so I could access all the features of my recorder. This was a bit tedious to accomplish, but the results were fantastic. I had tried this with other remotes in the past and was always disappointed by some sort of limitation - not this time.
