Customers are pleased with the 8-Function Learning Remote's ease of use, compatibility with various devices, and its affordability. Many appreciate the remote's range and the convenience of its macro buttons, although some wish it had a backlight and improved battery life. A few users found the programming process somewhat challenging. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and compatibility outweighs the concerns about minor drawbacks.

This little gadget became my favorite toy immediately. I bought another for my other TV room.
I use one with only a Vizio TV and a Motorola cable box.
Another supports an LG TV and an LG Blu-ray player as well as a JVC receiver.
The Macro buttons are very handy for common multi-button operations.
This remote accurately controls all functions of all of the devices and even adds some the the original remotes left out. Like a sleep button. Now I do not have to go through menus to access that function!
Get one while they last! Or two!

This is a pretty awesome remote for the price. If you are looking for a great feeling remote that you can set up with manufacturer codes, or teach the remote from another remote, and also have 4 buttons that you can setup macros for easily switching between sources - this a great remote. Very impressed for the money.

If you ever used a Sony RM-VL900 remote you'll be disappointed, but at one third the price, this remote control is a good value. On the upside, it has plenty of memory to handle many functions for up to 8 devices. It feels decently good in the hand, and is laid out well. On the downside, none of the keys are back-lit, nor do they glow in the dark, so there must be some ambient light to use it.- even if you memorize the buttons. The programming functions are somewhat tedious, requiring too much "backtracking" to add additional learned commands. This is not a problem when using the preset programming, but you'll likely want to add additional commands using the remote's learning ability. All-in-all, this is a very good and capable remote control. It is better than any of the other brands I've tried, but considerably less user-friendly than it's aforementioned predecessor.

I'm thrilled with this remote. I'm using 6 of the 8 controls (Samsung TV, NeoTV, DVR, DVD, Receiver, HDMI Switch). The learning part is the best part. Had a little trouble programming one key, but got it after a few tries and actually positioning the two remotes a little farther apart. Very happy and worth every penny.

I like this remote, it's not high-end but it covers a lot of functions/features that I was looking for in a remote. IE: Macros feature, which allows you to turn on and off multiple devices in a sequence, and the learning remote feature, which allows you to customize/assign individual buttons to the Universal remote from your original remote.
***Important: When or if you use the Learning feature, make sure you use new/fully charged batteries.
BestBuy also price matches other selected Companies, so remember to ask. IE: Amazon.com is one of them.

I'm not generally a fan of Sony. When I wanted a new universal remote, I looked around for a day or two, did some research and kept coming back to this inexpensive remote that promised so much.
I am completely satisfied. This little gem handles every piece of audio and video equipment I threw at it. Handled the ten year old stuff as well as the brand new items. Gave me lots of flexibility to map specific functions for each device to unused (yet sensible) keys. I have truely been able to put all of the other remotes in a drawer and haven't needed them to program a vcr or tweak the dvd player. Buy this remote, especially if you are considering one of the much higher priced ones.

Very complete, Low Priced Universal Remote

I have a home entertainment system that mixes brands: Samsung smart TV, Harman Kardon RCVR, Phillips DVD, Comcast set top and Panasonic DVR. Using the standard codes, this remote controls the majority of functions on them all. Adding the few missing commands using the learn function filled in the rest.
Minor gripes: no RCVR source legends over the number buttons as in older models, set led is too close the the set button (hidden when pressing the button), and learning codes now requires entering a three digit code that was previously not needed.
I have tried (and worn out) many low cost universal/learning remotes.
This is the best so far.

I was looking for a universal remote, but didn't need an overkill one (the ones with LCD screens and hook up via USB) and this was the best universal remote I have ever found for the cost.
The code lists is quite complete, having codes by my YV, blu-ray player, old DVD player as well as Scientific Atlanta (cable co) DVR and receiver. After reading the instructions and cyclingthough all the codes of my various devices, I was ablke to get it to work, though not all functions worked. This is where the learning featuere comes in, where you can use an old remote to teach this remote something, which was quite useful. Plus the macro keys at the bottom, which allow multiple key presses to be assigned to one key is great for turning everything on or off.
The real downside is the lack of blank, generic buttons that can be used with the learning feature for other functions not covered by the remote. My cable box remote, as many does has three buttons for menu naviagtion 'A', 'B' and 'C'.; these was no buttons corresponding to those and no blank ones, so it requires assigning those functions to other unused buttons, which can get quite confusing at time.

I purchased this remote after reading the other reviews. For the price, I am quite satisfied. It was very easy to program this remote using the learning mode. I am using it to control our:
- Panasonic plasma TV
- DirectTV receiver
- Panasonic DVD/Blu Ray player
- Sony sound bar amplifier
So far, the only functions I haven't been able to make it learn are the four (red/green/blue/yellow) colored buttons on the DirectTV remote. Unfortunately, these are very important as they support special functionality in the guide and allow for some very cool features like showing an on-screen summary of sports scores for various professional and college sports.
The documentation was decent. Overall I'd rate this a very good product that exceeded my expectations.

Good Remote for Sony Products

Wanted to cut the number of Remote Controls from 3 to 1. This Universal Remote works really good for Sony TV and Sony Blu-Ray Player that I have, and programs easily for the Apple TV.

I have 5 remotes in use, all for different hardware brands. I could manipulate them, but my family hated to try to use the multimedia room and called me in to start things up for them. I have a new Sony BD player, as well. The remote for that device does NOT have an "open/close" button (go figure!) but this multi-remote DOES! Now, everything works "automatically" through consolidation of multi-function one-button setup with this one control. Took me about an hour to program the most used function sequences into 4 one-touch operations such as "Watch TV," "Watch BD," or "Invoke NLDA Photo Slideshow." All the different devices spring into action as if by magic. Now, everyone is happy, including me!

Works great with Vizio TV, Sony-Bluray, Windows Media Center
Great Learning Feature
Works great with Next Generation Extender
I had to "learn" the WMC commands (no presets).
If you are having trouble learning new commands, try new batteries. It wouldn't learn with the NextGen battery.

Everything went smoothly as far as programming for my Sony TV and DVD player, and my Motorola cable box. But when I tried to program my Harmon Kardon receiver and CD player I hit a snag that almost made me return this remote to the store. The Harmon Kardon codes just didn't work, so I tried to program the remote using the learning feature. However, the remote just wouldn't learn the codes from my HK remotes correctly. For example, I got it to turn on my HK receiver, but it wouldn't shut it off. It would raise the volume, but not lower it. Finally, I tried programming it not from the HK receiver remotes themselves but from my old Sony Universal Remote (the one I was replacing) that had already been programmed successfully for my HK equipment. At that point, the remote finally learned all of the codes. So overall I'm happy with it, even though it was more trouble to program than it should have been.

I recently bought a new Samsung 37" LCD tv along with a LG BluRay player. I also have a Phillips DVD recorder/player , Digital cable box, and Phillips/magnavox cd/tape/tuner. This remote has worked for all five. I started trying the codes and gave up quickly and just used the learning feature. What a product! I was able to program this new remote for all five products within 20 minutes!! It is awesome. I was getting annoyed with my other remotes - one for changing the channel on the cable box, one for volume, yet another to watch a dvd or bluray. I was able to program all of the frequently used buttons onto this remote. YAY! I am sure there are some functions that I haven't realized I can't program but thats ok. I was not going to pay $100 or more for those other remotes - seemed way too expensive. This is a definite thumbs up from me.

Super impressed with this remote control ! It has three separate IR sensors, so it gets the signal sent to a wider area. For most of my other remotes (except, maybe, the one for Roku), I need to point the remote exactly towards the device it needs to control. But this one has a wider area that is being covered, and I believe that the IR signal is also stronger than for a regular remote, and bounces of the walls or windows. Metaphorically, you can control your TV from around the corner. I would buy another one today ! Strongly recommended !
