Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the 8-Function Learning Remote's ease of use, compatibility with various devices, and its affordability. Many appreciate the remote's range and the convenience of its macro buttons, although some wish it had a backlight and improved battery life. A few users found the programming process somewhat challenging. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and compatibility outweighs the concerns about minor drawbacks.

I really wasn't expecting much when I purchased this remote (I needed it since my TV remote broke), but I was pleasantly surprised to see how easily programmable and also customizable it was. Much different from the universal remotes that I remember from ages ago.

I bought two of these. I already own two high end Logitech Harmony remotes. I’m sure they do much more than these Sony's, but they are far more complex to program and operate than the Sony's. We find that we wound up only using the Sony's because they do every function we need (not that many) and are so easy to use. The Harmony's really are overkill for us.

The Sony RM-VLZ620 is a very useful universal remote that will allow up to 8 different devices to be controlled by a single remote. It is difficult to find a function that this remote will not handle, making it the most useful remote I've found for a complex assortment of electronic equipment.

I already have one version of this remote upstairs, and needed another for a more complex setup for our downstairs home theater. This version was on a deal of the day, and had even more features. Same great reliability that I come to expect with Sony. I read the instructions and learned how to be able to configure the remote to change the stereo volume with the volume keys while in a TV or BluRay mode - very helpful! It also has special "system" buttons that you can program several button presses to fire after you press 1 button. After a couple of minutes of config time, I now have a button that can turn my TV/BluRay/Stereo on or off all within the same button press. The instructions say the remote can "learn" specific functions from other remotes, but I haven't tested this out yet due to all of the great buttons already presented on the remote. Be sure to try all of your codes before you think it's not working. This remote partially worked with my LG TV via one code, but worked much more completely with another code. My only nitpick is that I still have an Amazon Fire TV remote that this remote hasn't replaced yet, although I haven't done much research yet. Great inexpensive remote with awesome features!

Does everything we need and is nice to use with other song products. Setting up with non Sony products isn't as easy as other remotes I have purchased.

I picked this over the more expensive remote because I can't justify spending over 75.00 for a Tv remote . Once you get the hang of it and teach this how to learn from your remote things get a lot easier. I do wish there a few more features but for the price I paid (25.00) to controllery tv, blue ray player, stereo and 5 disc changer it was worth the money

Sony universal remote is good for replacement of lost/damaged remote or to consolidate multiple remotes. The remote has a specific button for Blu-Ray player and a separate DVD player. Fairly easy to remote program.

This is an excellent remote. It worked well with all my devices. I especially liked how I could easily transfer commands from other remotes that were not included in this remote's original programming plus the ability to program buttons to execute multiple commands.

This remote does everything I need it to do. My biggest frustration with multi-device remotes is missing buttons. That is, after entering the appropriate code for a device the "universal remote" has most of the functions of the original remote but not all functions. This remote is a learning remote. I can "teach" it every function the original remote has. It has one drawback, it's not truly illuminated so it's difficult to find buttons in a dark room.

This may be the best cost effective LEARNING universal remote available. Not so easy to program though if you are not so inclined. Once you realize how flexible it can be, t can do things even the >$400 universal remotes can't. Too bad it is not backlit.

I was using several remotes, cable, TV, one for NetFlix and HuLu, and another for the XBox. I have connected everything to one remote which has eliminated the fumbling around to determine which remote to use! Life is just a little less complicated

Bought this to help control the amp (Pioneer Elite), ps3(Sony), cable (dish network) and plasma (Pioneer Elite). It works well for all of them, no need to with from dish to av1 like the dish controller. Just that itself was worth it. Going to buy 4 more for the other rooms. Remote has better range then dish controller and my amp controller.

I like the micro programming capability of the remote. Works good with my Samsung HDTV, Samsung Blue Ray, Verizon capable box, and Pioneer receiver. I use this remote for everything and shelved the rest of them that came with the equipment.

I have purchased several other remotes for my TV and none of them worked. This remote really worked and would highly recommend it. The TV is a Sony and the DVD is a LG - and it works for both devices.

This was a replacement for an older remote control. I read up online (not a Best Buy site) which universal remotes had the best rating and settled on this one. Then I went looking for it in a brick-and-mortar store (the opposite of "showrooming"!). So far I have no regrets. My previous experience with universal remotes is that setting them up can be a guessing game, no matter what the instructions say. This time I was pleasantly surprised. I wanted to set the remote up to work with four devices: a cable box from Time-Warner, a Toshiba DVD player/recorder, an LG TV, and a Samsung blue-ray player. Four devices, four codes to find. I was expecting to have a lot of trouble, but I was able to set up all four on my first attempt: for a wonder, one of the device codes listed for each device actually worked! I didn't have to manually search for device codes or use the learning function, just enter a code from the manual and try it out. Better yet, one of the first 1-2 codes for each device was the right one. I was even able to add a macro to turn on the three devices (cable box, DVD player, and TV) that I use most often with a single key-push, also on my first attempt. The only reservation I have so far is that the order of the device control keys' placement—for the cable box, TV, etc.—isn't what I would consider intuitive. Rather than selecting the device I want by touch I have to stop and read the buttons. As problems with devices go, this isn't so bad. Yes, I know I can reassign the function of each control, but I expect I'll get used to the placement of the keys in time. I am well-satisfied with my choice of this remote.

The remote was a little hard to setup since I have to search the web to get the correct code. After the setup it worked great.
