Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the 8-Function Learning Remote's ease of use, compatibility with various devices, and its affordability. Many appreciate the remote's range and the convenience of its macro buttons, although some wish it had a backlight and improved battery life. A few users found the programming process somewhat challenging. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use and compatibility outweighs the concerns about minor drawbacks.

Purchased this remote to end all the issues I had with another awful "cheap" Panasonic remote also purchased at Best Buy. Worked perfect on the TV but wait.....the input button on the remote is not what you think. Since my Panasonic DVD player does not match anything in the system then I thought at least I can use the input. Called Sony and they said NO that is not what the input button means on this remote. Which now renders it useless. I must now go out and find a remote that has input control.....so much for trying. Do not buy this item.

Once you find the correct program number, the unit works perfectly. Its easy to read and is laid out like similar units. Ergonomic and not too big.

I purchassed this based off of other reviews and info i could find. It is a nice looking remote and easy to program but unfortunatly, it would not work with my receiver or TV which both are SONY Brand and only 1-3 years old. I was very disapointed and even after trying every code and also find a code mode, and calling tech support (which was worthless) it silll wouldnt function the tv and only 2 functions off of the receiver. I am goign to try a different remote

    Great for about 6 months.

I bought this to replace the silver model that preceeded it. The silver older version lasted about 6 months before the buttons had to be squeezed hard to get them to work. It was refurb. Figured that's what I get for getting refurb. Well I bought this updated model, new, and it also only lasted about 6 months, maybe 8 months before various buttons stopped working after squeezing the life out of them. Now, I can't even get the volume up or menu button to work at all. I've heard of a fix using aluminum foil under the contacts, but 'common, it's a remote. Not worth my time. Going in the garbage can. Goodbye Sony. Just placed an order for a Harmony 700 remote on Bestbuy's site for 60 bucks on sale. Hopefully the button contacts are built better. Although this Sony remote is only 25 bucks, I feel like it should last more than 6 months. Afterall, it took forever to program the thing with learned commands.

    Didn't "learn" any functions

I loved the idea and look of this remote. It did find codes for all my devices but most of them didn’t work all the functions so I had to use the learning mode and it didn’t work for me or 2 other people that I had try. I hope that I just had a defective one. I hate to be negative about a product if it works for others and mine may have just been broken.

My problems began when I selected a Sony Blu-Ray BDV-E570. It turns out there's a difference between the Blu-Ray PLAYER & the Bu-Ray Home THeater System as far as Remotes are concerned. THe E570 is an HTS. The HTS doesn't seem to be compatible with ANY Remote Control Device EXCEPT for the one included in the package. I struggled for 2 days with the Comcast Motorola Remote. The Remote allows the use of the Aux Button to control other Devices. No luck with the E570 however. Comcast says Sony changed something & they don't see a need to address it. I checked around & found that the Sony Universal Remote will run the Cable Box, TV & Blu-Ray. Wooo Hooo! I research on CNet, Best Buy & several other sites. Customer Reviews loved it. The RM-VL600 was universally recommended with 5 Stars. I bought one & brought it home, anticipating the "Final Solution" to my Remote Control Blues. Then the Headaches REALLY started. I read the docs, "RM-VLZ620 comes pre programed for Sony Products, Just sit down & use it." Or not. In 10 Seconds I had the Cable Box functions working fine. The TV, a Sony Bravia, also worked fine. Then I started trying to get the E570 to work. No Luck in the 1st 2 Hrs. I went to ESupport Chat. After much Polite dancing around they came back with "The VLZ620 is not compatible with Blu-Ray HOME THEATER SYSTEMS. It is compatible with Blu-Ray Players however. Please Note the fine difference here. No where on the Packaging, Documentation or anywhere else is this differentiation made until you call Tech Support. They act all innocent, like they are gong to help you, then your done. "Is there anything else I can help you with?" BE WARNED!! THe RM-VLZ620 & probably EVERY OTHER Remote is NOT Compatible with the BDV-E570. Welcome to Orphan Land. You would be well advised to buy a Philips or any other brand Blu-Ray (Player or THS) than to buy a Sony. You could be joining me in Orphan Land. Good Luck & Buy some thing else.

It's fine. It will work, but there are way better remotes out there. If all you need is the minimum then you do just as well getting a cheaper remote.

A nice remote, but not meant for my unit.

There is a specific remote that I need for my stereo system. This was an open box purchase without a manual or remote. This one was recommended as possibly working for it. It did a few functions, but not some of the more specific ones. I found the proper one thru Amazon.
