I have Charter cable that comes with their remote in which the code for my TV was programmed into it. The problem with this is when you push the power button, it turns off the cable box, not your TV. You have to first push the TV button on their remote, then power to turn off TV - and their remote doesn't do all the functions the TV remote has (like sleep function). With the Sony remote, you can program back and forth (with different remotes) what functions you want assigned to each button at the top (ie. TV, DVD, CBL VCR, CD TAPE, AMP, etc.). You just line different remotes to face the Sony remote so their beams are facing each other and push the buttons you want to assign. ie. first push TV button on the Sony, then push the sleep button on my TV remote while push the sleep button on the Sony. The light will blink when learning your desired setting. Align the cable remote to assign all the cable remote functions under the TV button on the Sony, etc. The only thing I assign to the CBL (cable) button is to turn off the cable box (something I never do, but always good to be able to). Does that make sense? I guess you could think of it like filing. You put what information you want in each folder(Button).....how's that?

For the price, you cannot beat this remote. It is also a 'learning' remote, which normally costs 2x, 3x, 4x more. Handled all of my devices easily WITHOUT learning: Samsung HDTV, Verizon FiOS DVR, Sony BluRay, Sony Home Theatre Receiver.

This remote was easy to program and use with different devices.

Easy to program and setup for use with HDTV set. Broke the remote that came with the TV and this is a good replacement with lots of extra component functions.

It was easy enough to program that my non-tech husband was able to get it working with our vcr/dvd combo unit. We had tried several other universal remotes, but all of them either didn't work at all or had limited functionality with the vcr.

This remote had all the codes to talk to all of my equipment.

Having separate remotes for my devices was getting to much. Decided to check out this remote since I had previously owned a SONY, so I figured it should be good. I found it to be better than expected, was easy to program and all my devices fully function.

Works great for all my components, easy to set up.

I require one remote operation, and often make purchases influenced by their remote friendliness. This unit is easy to thoroughly customize, and has replaced the three original remotes completely. Mission complete.

I didn't have any equipment that worked with the device codes that are already loaded in the remote. But that wasn't a problem because the Training function is awesome. I was able to get a device working that I couldn't with any other remote. So I am very happy with this device

Very easy to use. Worked with most of my components out of the box. It was easy to setup and the learning feature works. However I usually watch movies in the dark. This is not back lit which seriously diminishes it's use usefulness. They really need a version in the series with a back light. Eventually I will probably wind up replacing this which is a shame because other then lack of back light this would be nearly perfect.

Super great value!! Can learn all your remote controls, TV, disk players, receiver, even Apple TV. You wont go wrong with these.

Remote is very good, only problem I had was to follow the manual. Finally I was able to configure all the devices by scanning as the codes for my TV were not available. Works very well with all the devices.

This remote works well. It took a lil time to get use to programming it. Only thing I would like is a back light when you hit any of the buttons in the dark.

Wasn't had setting up a vizio remote for Vizio apps menu but there are no pip function buttons which most remotes in this price range normally have. If you have a remote though that has buttons that aren't found on most all for ones, this remote is easily able to capture them. I did have problems with the swap function for pip. It swaps the pictures but then swaps it right away again... But I can set it up to see two channels at thesame time. Overall a good decent all for one for this price point.
