Good controller, bad receiver

I have the receiver plugged in less than 5 feet away from me and the controller, yet if I were to move my leg in the direct path between the two devices the controller will cease to function.The PS4 itself doesn't have this problem, so I assumed the dongle wouldn't either, but I was wrong.
