The wire connecting the headphones came out on one side. I called Sony and they said it was “User error” Do not buy these without the replacement policy.

For the price your better off getting another brand they don’t feel like they will hold up and will break easy. I ended up getting another brand.

The first thing I noticed is how comfortable these feel due to the slightly ear shaped oval openings to completely cover my ears and the head padding at the top. The sound is great. I did not like the app at first until I installed the additional app and then I found a better interface to control the headphones. The placement of the play/pause/advance button is good for natural thumb operation but found unintended operation when removing phones from head when someone needs my attention. The base sound is great and not over powering. I have actually had a solid Bluetooth connection beyond 30 feet (not recommended) and I think it depends on the device you are connecting to. This is definitely Sony Quality.

Big bass, flaky performance with my smartphone

If your music taste runs to heavy bass and you have deep pockets, this might be a good headphone to consider. For everyone else, there are probably better choices. Let's start with the good. The REALLY big earcups (get ready for the Princess Leia look) are quite comfortable. They are so deep, your ears are entirely swallowed, shutting out the outside world. And if you like BASS, these things really crank it out, to the extreme. Sometimes to the detriment of all other sounds. I found the highs and mid tones somewhat muted because there was so much bass. You can control how much -- from a lot to way too much -- using a Bass Effect button on one cup. Turning if off sounded best to me. But this is a personal preference. For what it's worth, the bass is very clean, not distorted. Overall quality seems pretty good, as it should be for this price. An adjustable solid padded band and a 45 degree rotation potential on the cups (so they can lay flat) means almost everyone should get a perfect fit. And for those who prefer a wired connection to bluetooth, there is a (short) wire included that allows you to go that route. Now for the bad. In wireless mode with my relatively new android smartphone, the sound stalled out frequently, making it all but impossible to really use the headphones with that device. The instructions say if you have this problem, turn all other apps off. I did that, No improvement. I get the impression these were designed to work best with iPhones. If so, another black eye in my book.. Not everyone wants to spend $800 for a phone. Design for the lowest common denominator, not the highest. Battery life is pretty short (a few hours) and it seems to go dead whether you use it or not. So keep it on charge all the time if you plan to use it regularly. There is also an app that Sony recommends you download to use with these headphones. It allows you to set the bass level and turn on different environment equalizations, supposedly (Outdoor, concert, jazz club, etc) That seems not to really work.. Just lowered the volume, made the sound more muddy, regardless of mode. A waste of time. For this kind of money, I would expect more. Can't really recommend it.

I waited anxiously for these to arrive as I haven't had a pair of over-the-ear phones in a while and this was my first bluetooth set. The thing that threw me from the first was that...suprise...these are not meant to use for PC audio. They paired--but windows 8.1 had the settings to assign it for CD audio, video etc were grayed out. So I see by the literature it's meant for Android or Apple devices. No worry as the very same music on the PC is available through one of many free media servers you can set to run on it. So the phone or tablet is the go-between and works out better as they are also portable. With that said--at least with my Moto G4--when you want to start using the phones, you have to go to the settings, choose the Sony set as audio output source for phone and media--and then reboot the phone! I don't know if this is with every phone, or just mine. But that almost made me want to take back the 5th star. Now--for the reason for the 5 stars. The audio quality is awesome. I don't mind the weight and sweat of this style of phones when you are centered in a rich, textured environment they have here. The Beats sets are lighter and I would say more comfortable-- but you press the Bass Effect button on these babies and wow....that is what you call deep bass. Most songs you won't want or need the extra bass. They are that "wide"--plenty of deep rich bass and plenty of wispy ultra high range room so they aren't leaden or dull with the healthy low end. BTW--the Sony lady who quotes the button commands and power on/off will also interrupt your music for the on/off of the bass effect button. That's enough to make you decide ahead of time to use it or not. The supplied cable for charging is very short, that's a bit of a pain but the 1/8 stereo cable for wired connections was long enough for PC and also sounded great.

These headphone were great while they worked. However they failed to be able to charge in less than 6 months! I am not sure what you should buy but I can not recommend these. If you so venture this direction, I would definitely buy into the insurance. You will be needing it.

In all honesty I haven't even attempted to do anything about the fact that the entire left ear bud has fallen off of this product. Frankly because I hated wearing them to begin with, terrible sound, uncomfortable, unusable buttons. Hate them.

These are clear, crisp-sounding headphones -- the best I found at my price point ($200 or less). I don't need or even particularly like noise reduction headphones, so that was a non-issue. Bluetooth pairing is easy, moreso if your phone supports NFC. To my ears, the extra bass button is overkill, but for those who love low-end, these are killer. On the negative side, this model is notorious for breaking at the swivel connection between the cans and headband. My first pair snapped and broke literally a week after the warranty expired. As luck would have it, Best Buy had them on sale for almost half price so I gave this model another try. Sony claims an 18-hour battery life between charges, which has also been my experience playing at a moderate volume on Bluetooth. Use the included audio cable and you won't drain the battery. You'll want to get a case to store these, both to protect the swivel joints and prevent scratching the finish.
