The bass can be too much for my aging ears depending on the type of music I'm listening to. It's too bad the bass isn't adjustable. All other aspects of this product are fantastic...comfortable, stays on your head when you bend over, noise cancelling is sufficient for the price (I paid about $110 for mine). Excellent bargain.

I went through a nightmare not only looking for great headphones but ones that would work with PSVR as this was my main reason for purchasing these. After trying these out and comparing them to the Beats Studio wireless for music and Turtle beach 350vr for the PSVR I found 1 headphone that replaces 2. Music- Beats studio wins when it comes to max volume but things tend to sound muddy when doing so. Maxing out the volume on the xb950n1 not only sounds great but the bass is actually better than beats (yes I went there). The beats bass hits just as hard but the 950n1 bass is actually deeper therefore sounding much better and not head rattling (unless you activate extra bass). The treble is a little higher on the studio wireless but the soundstage on the sony is much wider and regardless of genre im listening to every song sounds cleaner and richer on the 950n1. Btw Noise Cancellation on the 950n1 is great. Its not bose or sony mdx1000 great but its def the second best version out there. Compared to the beats noise cancellation....well beats doesnt even come close. Beats noise cancellation is mediocre at its best and I can hear just about everything unless I had the beats blasted at full volume (at that point whats the point of noise cancellation?) Overall music the Sony wins. I would not trade in max volume for sound quality any day of the week. PSVR- The 350vr was fantastic. Built in amplifier and bass booster. Sounded good but overall the simple fact here is that the 350vr does not have Noise cancellation. I could hear my air conditioner in the backround loud and clear and im pretty sure those dont work underwater therefore killing most of the immersion VR does for you. Enter Sony xb950n1. These sounded great and thought they slightly get lower in max volume when connected to the PSVR via 3.5mm cable the noise cancellation more than makes up for it. Turning this on I no longer could hear anything in my room. My wifes voice was faint only 3 ft from me. Just enough to hear if there was an emergency. Noise cancellation sucks you into the VR world like no other. Comfort- The beats studio wireless were a bit heavy and did not fit over the ear 100% as claimed. This does not ruin much at all but the sonys and 350vr fit over the ear perfectly. The beats I could not wear for more than an hr as they felt too pressured on my head most especially fustrating trying to get these to fit with the PSVR. Turtle beach 350vr fits great and is comfortable ...exactly what its made for. Sony xb950n1 fit beautifully with extra space to spare when ised with the PSVR. Plenty of clearance and couldnt feel it on my head after 5 mins thats how comftable these were. Earcups are pillows for your ears. Overall the sony was the way to go. These headphones are phenomenal and if used with PSVR the immersion is beautiful. Took the beats and 350vr back and now ill enjoy my sonys from here on out. Hope this helps anyone going through a similar situation.

I did a lot of research, probably too much and found these headphones the best for the money. The bass is better than all the other top brands. I couldn't see myself paying $150 more for a little bitter NC and sound. The only reason I did not give these a 5 star, is the highs are not as crisp as I would like them.

Tried it at the local BestBuy on Thanksgiving and bought it right away. The bass is superb for someone who likes to listen to bassy music and noise cancelling works perfectly. The battery life is super long but the headphones look a bit big.

These are comfortable and sound great whether watching a movie or jamming out to some music. The Bluetooth works great. Noise cancelling is wonderful. I have Bose too and they are a little more punchy in the bass than those.

Extra Bass is right. These things sound great. I like how you can customize the bass boost setting with the app. The noise cancellation helps but isn't all that great. They don't get too warm on my ears and are comfortable.

These headphones are very comfortable and have a great sound. I love the over-the-ear feature rather than the an on-the-ear. I’ve never liked headphones sitting on your ears. These comfortably go over and completely encase your ears. I love the way you can turn the bass boost on or off with a touch of a button as well as the sound canceling feature. My only concern would be if you had to pay the full price which I believe was around $300. Believe me, I would never purchased these for $300. A $100 sale price is excellent and they were well worth that amount.

I am comparing these cans to three similar products that I already own: 1) Bs AE2 (BT); 2) SH HD580 (wired); 3) MP 059 (BT, AZ, cheap); 4) These Sony cans. RATINGS (left to right=best to worst) Sound: 1, 2 , 4, 3. Sony have too much bass for music but are great for video games. HD have the best fidelity. BS are a tiny bit punchier but very good. MP are muddled. Fit/Comfort: 1/2, 3, 4. Sony hurts my elephant ears and makes them sweat. They are worst for listening/playing games while laying down as the round cans get pushed around by the pillow while 1 and 2 have oblong cans and are not effected. MP fit better and thus do not get pushed around as much. Bs and SH are perfect and their light weight helps. Weight: 1, 2, 4, 3. SH and Bs are perfect. The weight of Sony and MP makes them move around more. Build: 4, 2, 1, 3. Sony cans look great but are large. Bs cans are sleek and elegant. MP look garish. Nobody that matters will see you wearing the SH cans. Controls: 2 (no controls), 1, 4, 3. Sony have too many controls that are all over the place. MP controls are wonky. Bs is perfectly elegant. Noise Cancelling: Sony are the only pair with this feature and it works great. Not necessary for my home use but use it anyway. Range: 4, 2, 3, 1 (long and flexible dual-pair wire with 1/8" jack). Connection Reliability/Quality: 1, 2/4, 3. Microphone: 4, 3, 2, 1 (no mic). Battery Life: 4, 3, 2, 1 (wired). Sony battery life is best even with noise cancelling turned on. This might partially explain the large size and weight. Voice Messages: 2, 4, 3, 1 (no messages) Multi Connection: 2, 3, 4, 1 (wired). Bs can switch two connections on the fly. This is a big deal for me and makes me use them more. CONCLUSION Nice price and build quality but would not buy again because of sound (excessive bass even with boost control off), comfort and control issues. They have found a niche for playing PS 4 Pro games because the BS cans would not connect to the BT dongle installed on the TV for that system and MP controls were too wonky. If it weren't for that, I would have returned them and coughed up considerably more for another and more elegant Bs set in spite of the lower battery life.

I love these headphones they're comfortable, clear sound, and the extra bass is great yet not overpowering or shaky, very solid yet smooth. And the noise cancelation is like the icing on the cake.

If you love music you gotta have these headphones. I bought them on sale thinking they were not going to compare to the Bose over the ear headphones but I personally think they are better than those. I love the sleekness of it. They are light and comfortable when wearing them for extended periods. The buttons respond to command and the headphones are great. One thing I disliked was the case situation. It’s a baggy, it would had been much better if it was a hard shell case. The battery lasts for a long time I’ve had my headphones for at least 2 wks and only had to charge them once, they are great. Overall I’m in love with the headphones :)

I spent a bit of time trying to pick out a pair of bluetooth headphones before a sale prompted me to buy these Sony headphones. I haven't regretted the purchase, and enjoy the sound quality and quality of the bluetooth connection over other headphones I've tried. When I compared it directly to a pair of Cowen wireless headphones my friend owned, I was shocked how much better music sounded on the Sonys. Battery life has been great as well. Noise canceling is adequate, though I don't think it's going to top other high-end sets. Overall, I would still recommend these headphones if you can get them on sale.

These headphones have amazing sound quality and also amazing build quality. The bass effect is just the right amount where it intensifies the music but dose not make your head hurt. The noise cancelling ability is one of the best I've ever seen on a pair of headphones. The battery is long lasting (6-8) hours of non-stop use and about 24+ hours for on and off listening. Slim, compact and lightweight; one of the best pairs of headphones on the market right now.

I purchased this product over Thanksgiving Weekend and have had ample time to review it. -First off, the bass is truly incredible! You can listen to music the way it was intended. - The headphones have plenty of foam cushioning, so you can wear them for hours without having your ears completely smushed. - The battery life is incredible long. Thus far I have played music and movies on them for a consecutive 16 hours before I charged them (even though there was still a fair amount of battery life left in them). - Do note that these are noise-cancelling and not sound proof. They do a tremendous job canceling out airplance noise and dimming the noise of crying babies on flights, but if you have nothing playing at all you can still hear faint cries. CONCERN/DISLIKE: - The only thing I disliked about these headphones is that you cannot sleep with them nor can you lean your head against a wall/headrest with them as they are too bulky and tend to move and nudge off. While the quality is great, they may not be the best for individuals who wish to sleep with them on, on flights. I tried to do so, and it is rather uncomfortable and they also slip off the ear when you try that. - The second thing I really disliked with these headphones was the fact that they do NOT come with a sturdy carrying case. It comes with a very slim travel sack which is completely inefficient and ineffective in terms of protecting them. OVERALL: - Overall, I really enjoyed having them and do believe that with the proper care they will last several years to come.

I purchased these headphones based on a tremendous sale price and great reviews. I admit up front that I'm no audiophile, in fact, I suffer a fair degree of hearing loss, but that just makes quality audio equipment more important. I have not owned these long enough to make meaningful statements about their battery life or longevity, but I was blown away by the sound. It is truly incredible. My only negative comment, or rather wish, is that a hard case were provided for protection when traveling, as I've gotten on another premium set. I don't think you'll find a better set.

Heads and tails above its predecessors!!!

This is the third Sony Headphones in this series that I've been blessed to own (previously I had the MDRXB950BT/L and the XB950B1 models), and these are HANDS DOWN the BEST in the entire series!!! They aren't as tight on your head as the other models and offer a snug and secure fit without putting too much pressure on your head. The battery life is, as always, stellar, and since I only really use these during my commute to and from work M-F, I can easily go 3-4 days without needing to charge them. These headphones, while featuring the same SONY build quality, seem to feel lighter than its predecessors, which is a nice bonus (not that the other ones were that heavy to begin with, but the weight difference is noticeable). And the sound quality is EXCELLENT for the various genres of music that I listen to (Gospel, R&B, Jazz, Hip Hop, Reggae, and Country)-the base is not as overpowering even with the Extra Bass on like in the older models that I had, but it can be felt and heard at the right time with the right songs ( I haven't even played with the app and increasing the bass digitally as of yet!). All in all, I am EXTREMELY pleased with this purchase, and I believe you will be too! They're also on sale for $130 off of their normal $249 price right now, so, for all that you're getting, it's a steal!

A very good noise cancelling earphone. Got it for a good deal during thanksgiving. The earphone looks quite big on your head compared to Bose. But the sound quality, comfort is good. Sound quality and noise cancellation is not as good as Sony WH1000X or Bose QC35 which are 350$. Since it is over ear it is better than Beats too. For less than 150$ this is a very good product

I have not bought any Sony headphones before these. I’ve used them close to everyday for a week. The cushions that go around my ears keep me comfortable while blocking noise perfectly. The Bluetooth works so well and automatically connects when I power on, and the bass effects are a sweet addition to an already great set of headphones.
