I bought the sony extra bass headphones after missing the Black Friday deal on wireless beat studios. I skipped the deal because I had purchased the JBL 700s the year before. Went to power on the JBLs and the battery was toast. Needless the say I was back in the market for some wireless headphones. Caught the Sonys on a 20 days of doorbuster deal and am very pleased, tons of bass and great build quality.

I was skeptical about nose cancelling headphones. But, after a long flight, I got worried about how loud I had to turn up the volume just to drown out the normal planes noises. I went to Best Buy to try them out. There were three levels to choose from. I picked the 950 model because they were substantially better than the less expensive Sony headphones and the highest-end set were outstanding but not for $100 more. Trusting in the return policy, I bought them. I am so glad I did. I find it so nice to drown out background noise while writing. Plus, listening to R.E.M. and Led Zeppelin is like hearing the music for the first time.
Lastly, my last pair of Sony headphone made my ears ache after a couple of hours. These are so comfortable that I wore them on a 4 hour flight yesterday and my ears were not tired at all.
I highly recommend these headphones.

I got these primarily to listen to our main TV when the kids and wife are sleeping. We have newer Samsung TVs which make it easy to wirelessly connect these headphones to. The sound is clear and the added bass effect is awesome. The noise cancelling is very good too, though my listening environment isn't usually noisy. Got the headphones at a good price so I am very happy with the purchase.

Notes: not an audiophile, so I'll defer sound quality and ANC to the rest of the positive reviews. The only recent headphones I can compare to are the Beats Solo 3s.
I can comment on the comfortability of these. The holes aren't too large so the fit might be an issue for larger ears. But the soft pads and tension band are right on to wear for long listening periods. However, the size of the pads adds to the weight and profile, so you'll never forget these are on.
The features are also an added bonus (for those with iOS and Android phones). The supplement app allows for the added base boost, switching equalizer profiles, and de/activating the ANC. These also have a convenient backward/skip switch.
Not surprisingly, the most notable attribute of these is the bass. Adjustable via the app, but honestly, not needed (they can also be leveled down). A definite plus for bass heads!

All the features are what I was looking for in a headphone:
-Great bass
-Great Clarity
-Long battery life
-Bluetooth with extensive range
-Easy to learn interface
Overall I've really enjoyed these headphones, I got them on sale for 180, the regular 250 price is a bit pricey for me. The only minor complaints I have are their size, which are quite large and not having a hard case to carry them in. I would definitely recommend this product!

I got these for Xmas a couple years back. The quality is what I expect from a Sony product. The build quality is great. The bass and noise reduction features work well. The bluetooth connectivity is really easy to figure out and the recorded voice letting me know of the battery level and connectivity are also very good features.
One complaint is that the headphones are a bit bulky. You can actually see them out of the corner of your eyes. These can't be discreet so if you want to walk around town with these on, you may attract unwanted attention from would-be robbers.
The other complaint I have is that they are uncomfortable to wear for more than a few minutes at a time. This may be because they are over the ear type that blocks out all sound and the way they press against the area behind your ears. If you are watching a movie, you may want to take breaks and take these off for a while.

Truth be told, I’ve only used this a couple of times. The sound is remarkably good. I’ve yet to try it in a busy or loud environment but I tried playing the piano with the noise reduction on and I could barely hear the piano and just the music playing over the headphones. The noise reduction doesn’t have that annoying buzz you often get with other models. They are quite bulky but not unseemly. I look forward to using them more.

I would give this 5 stars but the headset is a little bulky and it does cost a lot of cash. On the plus side, the sound is great and the ability to boost the low end comes in handy if you like that sort of thing. Bluetooth was easy to set up and connects quickly.

I use thsee mainly for watching TV. The sound is excellent and has a surround sound feeling. The headphones are average in comfort The noise canceling works decent. When turned on the default goes to NC on. It would be better to default to your last setting. I would like to see a firmware update in the app for a full equalizer. Overall these are excellent headphones with a long lasting battery.

Good Sound / Poor Construction

My wife bought these as a gift for me last June from Best Buy. I use these every day at work and carry them back and forth using a hard clamshell case that I bought only days after my wife gave them to me. I treat these phones with care and respect since they were a gift from my wife and, at $125.00, they represent a significant price upgrade from the $50.00 Skullcandy Hesh 2 phones I lost. I take care of my things and expect them to last.
The sound on these is pretty good and the features are nice. I enjoy the noise cancelling feature and the extra base feature works fine. One thing that does annoy is an occasional, repeated drop of the sound signal, which can only be described as a “hiccup” during song playback. There are supposed to be different playing modes that you can enter by turning the phones on while holding a combination of buttons that’s supposed to suppress this problem. These different playing modes have never worked for me. Furthermore, this is a problem that I have never experienced using any Skullcandy phones at half the price of these.
Now on to the real reason for this review. As I said before, I transport these phones in a hard case and treat them very gently. Last week I rotated the left cup and held it to my ear to listen to something without putting them completely on. The cups on these phones rotate so that they can lay flat for easier packing and also for “DJ” style listening. A little while later when I went to put them on, I noticed one of the arms that held the left ear cup was broken. So the weight of the phones being held sideways to listen to only one cup must have broken the arm. To say that I was disappointed is a vast understatement.
However, the disappointment was only beginning. I went home and located the receipt. These phones are only eight months old and there’s a one-year warranty. Cool. I still had the box with the original paperwork (that’s how new they are) so I broke it out and called Sony Customer Support and told them my story expecting them to replace these defective phones. Less than ten minutes into the call the guy on the other end says, “Let me check our database.” [Keyboard typing sounds…] “No, I don’t see any reports of this type of problem with this model so this would fall under physical damage, which is not covered under the warranty. You can try calling an authorized repair shop to see if they can be fixed.” What?!
Frustrated, I took the number and called the repair center, which is located in New York. They said they could be fixed. It would be $18.00 to ship them, $75.00/hour for labor, plus parts. So $93.00 before parts to fix some phones that my wife originally paid $125.00 for? “No thanks,” I told the lady, “I’ll try to glue them back together myself or get a different pair.” I guarantee if it comes to the latter option, it won’t be another pair of Sony phones.
By the way, after looking on the Sony website, I see that there are several reports of the exact same problem that I had. I don’t know what database the Sony Customer Rep was searching, but obviously, it wasn’t their own website.
Avoid this model unless you want the same hassle. Seriously. You’ve been warned.

I have always been a fan of Sony products. I was looking for headphones that would take out the noise from other gym goers or loud annoying classes that are going on at the gym. The moment I put these on and voided all outside noise so I could workout I knew I had made the right choice in headphones. Berg comfortable on your head and ears.

My fiancé brought me the JBL free wireless headphones for our anniversary and as much as I love my JBL Pulse 3 speaker, I didn’t love the headphones. So he took them back and brought me these instead and I have to say i am very pleased with this purchase! The sound is great and they are very comfortable! I can’t wait to workout in them!

Cons:
If you are looking for a noise canceling headphone to protect yourself from the air engine noise or your stupid roommate. Don't buy this. I returned this and buy a wr1000x ear pod. MDR 1000x mrak1 would be a good choice for noise canceling and lower price than mark 2. Also, Bose has several great noise canceling headphones, like quitecomfort 35&25
Thick foam makes it uncomfortable to wear it for a long time.
The material is plastic, cannot recognize it from close look but it's a really cheap touch feeling.
Pros:
On the other hand, Sony did a good job for its clarity and performance on base and music instruments.
OK for human sounds.
Foldable
lovely price for cyber mon deal $129
Good battery life
Can still be used when low power with the attached aux cable
The last thing:
All the controlling units are on the headphone. About three buttons each side. power on/off, noise canceling switch, and base effect button on the left. volume control, pause, and next/last song on the right. Some people may love this combination. I personly don't. It depends.
