Really well built noise cancelling headphones with superb bass. Audio quality is fantastic. Just the right amount of noise cancelling to mute outside noise during my daily commute and is comfortable enough to wear for an extended amount of time. For being bluetooth the audio sounds amazing. The battery can easily last a week if used for 2 hours a day. The phone app is ok, it gives access to the bass and noise cancelling setting and also some audio presets. The audio presets don't sound good - not worth using. The only negative is because of the nature of the ear cups is that it makes my ears sweat. The ear cups are rubber or some kind of plastic material that is not breathable and traps heat. So glad I got these.

Spent some time comparing these headphones to the Beats Studio2 Wireless. After about an hour of research I found that many people preferred these over the Beats. I purchased the Sony headphones and I can say that I do not regret selecting these, as they have great sound quality and the app provided allows more control than other headphones. The physical buttons on the headphones also give you more control of your media while you listen. The only thing that I was not so keen on was their size. They're a little on the bigger side, but it's tolerable in my personal opinion

I use these almost daily between work and home. A lot of people have asked me about them since they are a little bit eye catching, and I'm usually wearing them during the day. I tell them three things. 1, they are arguably the best purchase I've ever made in my life. 2, the battery lasts ridiculously long, even with consistent regular usage. And 3, now that I have them, I will never go back to non noise cancelling headphones. Additionally, the sound quality is fantastic, and the bass boost feature is similar to noise-canceling in the sense that I would never go back to a set of headphones without it. It's very nice that both features, noise cancelling and bass boost, can be turned off if needed. And, I very much enjoy what I first thought were bizarre track and volume controls. After a few weeks, I became second nature, and bizarrely enough it's a very satisfying way to skip tracks. And the fit of these headphones is solid, they even fit the puppy

I got this headphone a couple of days ago. I'm not a pro or audiophile, but I love listening to music and own quite a number of cans of different types and form-factors. I was really interested in the two highlighted features of these headphones: bass effect and noise cancellation (NC). I have an NC headphone from Panasonic which does rather meager job at that. The NC feature of the Sony XB950N1 is quite good: more than I expected. I've been using it at my office (where there's always a low drone from the AC). I feel quite isolated from everything - the first couple of times it felt quite unnatural, but now I'm getting used to it. Regarding the extra bass feature: I'm not a so called "bass head". My playlist is mostly dominated by rock, metal, classical, new age. At first I was really confused what the "Bass Effect" button on the left ear-cup did: I did not find any significant change. However, I installed the companion app in my Android phone and increased the "Electro Bass Boost" effect a bit (I found +4 did the trick for me). That increased the bass effect to a more enjoyable level for me - anymore than that and the low end gets overtly dominating. I'm always hesitant on commenting on the sound quality of headphones. I personally find the technical features (freq. response, sibilance, etc.) secondary when choosing/recommending headphones. There are a lot of resources for those information (and I admire the people who provide us with those in-depth analysis). I usually just listen to some stock tracks I like and check whether they sound as I expect. From that perspective, I love my Audio Technica ATH-M50x. Comparing to that, the low-end seemed muddy for the Sony. The M50x has more clarity (which it should as it's a monitor headphone), but the Sony does a decent job. I compared it with Beats Studio Wireless, and it seemed the sound is quite superior in case of Sony (Disclaimer: I don't own a Beats myself, I borrowed it just to compare). The size of the headphone may be a concern for some people - they are quite big. The headband is of course adjustable, but someone with a smaller head may find it "overwhelming". The headphone itself is quite comfortable. My ears sweat a lot when listening for more than an hour or so. The Sony XB950N1 as a synthetic leather like material on the ear-cups and the headband support backed by a quite soft foam material (not sure whether they are memory foam or not). Though the pads are not breathable, I found my ears getting hot and sweaty after using them for more than 3 hours at a stretch. The headband clamping is also not very tight and does not exert too much pressure. Overall, I found the headphone to be quite good for the targeted consumers who want the extra-bass effect, noise-cancellation, and good Bluetooth functionality. The build-quality is excellent. The wireless range is quite good, and the charge stays on for a long time. I think I got more than 15 hours with both Bass Effect and Noise-Cancellation turned on. However, I'm not happy with a couple of things: 1) I think the price ($250) maybe a bit high - I think it's a good buy if its around $180-200. 2) Only a soft carrying pouch is included - a hard case would have been great. 3) Finally I found it difficult to keep track of all the switches on the ear-cups (Power, NC, Bass effect, Volume rocker, another rocker-like combo-switch for Play/Pause, Forward and Back). Clearer info regarding the usage should have been included instead of the user poking around for different settings. These are all my initial thoughts after using it for 4/5 days. I'll try to update this review if possible in the future.

I have received these around 6 days ago and haves used them everyday to workout with watch a movie or just around the house. I have to say the sound on these are AWESOME it is a deep clear bass the sound comes out clean and clear no background noise what so ever. I own a pair of noise canceling Dre Beats and i have to say that the SONY Noise Canceling Extra Bass Headphone BEAT my Dre Beats. Sorry but that's the way i feel about the Sony Headphones. So the Sony headphones have a 22hr battery life that is awesome if you let them die it say's it takes 7hrs to charge they have an app that you connect with your phone to change the sound and to change how much bass you want -10 or +10 on bass. The sounds you change to are Club, Arena, or outdoors. This is a simple connect to your phone and the range is a lot long then the manual say' s it is. The ear cups fit around your ears and have a soft feel to them there is a lot of cushion the headphones don't put pressure on your head. If you are working out with them your ears tend to get a little hot but when you have good music going to don't mind the heat. But they do stick out a little to much but no big deal with that..I wish them would have came with a hard carry case they come with a cloth bag instead. If you are in the market for Noise Canceling. There is a voice in the headphones to let you know when you turn them off and on and when you connected. You can receive calls buttons on the lower side of the headphone let you control power/volume/Noise cancelling/play pause fast fwd. Noise Cancelling Extra Bass -10 +10 Bluetooth and NFC wireless Connectivity with any device 22 hour battery life App to connect with your phone to customize sound Carry Bag I hope you enjoy them as much as i have.

on the 3rd week owning these headphones i have finally able to make conclussion about these headphones. at first at the store when i tried them i wasnt very impressed at all not to mention that i thought the build quality was just meeh.. but after buying severall other headphones including beats studio 2 and tried them all ( That will be on my another reviews) i thought hey since the price was so good because the were on sale for more than 50percent off so why dont i just get them, if later ive found that i didnt like them i could just return them anyways. so now on the 3rd weeks owning these headphones i can tell you iam pretty happy about the sound quality! yes, every headphones has burn in period if you dont know what it is, google it. so every night i listen to some music using them for 30 minutes, but after that id just keep the music playing for hours and hours even without me listening trhough them and this is for almost 3 weeks everyday! and now the sound turned out to be much better than when the first time i took them out of the box and tried them. alot of bass and sometimes it just overwhelming in a good ways but id always have to turn off the extra bass feature and tone down the bass even more on the sony app just because im not really into full blown bass music!LOL the high is kind of weak but not bad at all, the mid is good and the low is well.. bassy!LOL What Dissapoint me more than anything else about these is the noise canceling performance which is subpar! even bose quiet comfort 25 has better accoustic noise cancelling performance! and these ones has supposedly active noise cancelling which supposed to be better! i have compared these side by side with my beats studio 2 which has almost the same burn in time period and i can tell you.. man, with these headphones on the market there is no way id pay 379 bucks for beats studio 2! they were on sale that why i got them too! the overall sound quality is really good, and i always end up picking these ones over my beats just because.. well because they sounded better! overall beside of the finish and maybe kind of cheap looking build quality, iam very happy with these headphones and the price that ive paid for these cant be beat! ohh before i forgot, it takes almost 7 hours to fully charge these headphones!

I just got an iphone 7, and you know the drill, you can't charge and listen music at the same time with wired headphones. So I did my research and found good ones about this Sony headphones, but let me tell you that it is way much better than I was expecting. First and foremost, I'm a student. I also live in a loud neighborhood, where dogs bark loud, cars pass by, and under a airplane flight pathway. With that said, this is exactly what i was looking for, i wanted some headphones that i can use while studying. i study at home, and my next door dogs drive me crazy, these helps eliminate the barking sound, so i can focus only on homework. Play some classical while studying, they are perfect! I also wanted some cordless headphones because i also record music in my place. i had some Sony cord over the headphones and i had to stay close to the mixer, it sucked. With these i don't have to worry about it now, i used a audio midi interface to make sure there is no delay, and nope, no delay. Really happy with these headphones. They look study and feel great while wearing them, i've used them for a couple of hours and i didn't hurt, still felt comfortable. I bluetooth paired with my samsung S7, Surface 2 tablet, and my Mid 2010s Imac. For some reason it wouldn't paired with my 2015 Sony 4K tv. It didn't even picked it up, but its okay, i wouldn't want to use it on it anyway. I am really happy with these headphones. I will start college soon, and i am planning to use these very often. You can download the app, but they don't have a lot of control options on it. They're are some preset equalizer options, but i don't recommend them. You don't have to download the app to get the headphones working, its optional. The noise cancellation is good not great. I can still hear noise but it sounds distanced. My friends had a conversation in front and i had trouble hearing what they were saying only until i started paying closer attention i could tell what they were saying. The set up is easy, they look and fell study. I would recommend to anyone!!!! These headphones is EXACTLY what i was looking for, headphones to help me with those long studying sessions, or those long recording sessions at home. :D

Packaging is great on these headphones. Packed with premium materials and great accessories like a carrying pouch, 3.5mm headphone cable, and micro USB charging cable. Getting to what your hear for, the headphones. They have a great build quality with a nice texture on the outside with super plush headband and ear cups. The comfort is incredible in these things! Sound quality is equally great. The Bluetooth pairs very quickly without hiccups. The Bluetooth range seems spotty though. It cuts out when moving and can become inconsistent in quality. The bass is great and the app can be used to adjust it but I seem to like it around zero, maybe 1 or 2 above but then it seems to get a little overpowering. The quality doesnt get much worse just the bass starts to drown out the highs and mids. They gets incredibly loud either way though. Battery life seems to be good to. Hard to test the advertised 22 hours but I have put a solid 10 on them with no issues. Overall I would say these are a solid pair of Bluetooth headphones with great bass and features. Would definitely recommend!

I've purchased these headphones last year. I made a research and deliberately chose this model over XB950B1 because of the reviews about the broken hinge on them. Unfortunately, XB950N1 has the very same problem. For 8 months I really enjoyed the sound and noise cancellation they produce. I used them at my home office desk while working. Never took them outside, or even out of the room for a matter of fact. Never dropped or mishandled them. But still, either due to poor product design or materials quality, they cracked and broke on the hinge after only 8 months of gentle usage. I only noticed that when they broke completely, but I suspect it started with a crack which had led to this. My headphones are still under 1 year Sony warranty, so I've called the support and described my issue. But they said they will not do anything because the physical damage is not under their warranty. OK I get it when an item is broken because of the circumstances, but this one is an obvious design flaw and material quality issue. After zero help from the support, I tried to glue broken parts together, which didn't work. Looking for spare parts online but can't find anything. Now when one part of the hinge is broken there is too much pressure on the second one and it also cracked and will eventually break. Will try to fix it myself, but it is really frustrating to be left with broken headphones on hands especially when they are not that cheap.

Disclaimer: I used my new wireless BT headphones with a Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone with adjustable graphic equalizer controls on the phone itself. PROS -- Extremely comfortable to wear. The soft ear cups don't press against the actual ear. -- VERY easy pairing with NFC out of the box. It paired instantly. I hit play, and the music started playing. -- The Sony headphones app was VERY cool. I could instantly 1. Set the level of "bass effect" with a slider bar. This level is remembered after the "bass effect" is turned off then on again. 2. Turn on/off noise cancelling 3. change the surround sound setting (Off, arena, concert hall, club, outdoor stage. 4. Shows battery level and model number. No other settings are available at this time though I'm hopeful the app will update over time to make it a little more compact. -- The BASS. Yes, once the bass booster is turned on, you REALLY can feel hour head pound if you have that setting all the way up. I have the bass set around 70% and it sounds great at that level for me. However the amount of bass can be adjusted by the app so you don't go from no bass to too much bass. That is a GREAT feature to be able to control the bass level. -- If your battery somehow dies, you can use the supplied 3.5mm male/male cord to plug into a device and still listen to your music. However, once you PLUG in, you lose ALL functionality of the headphones and app control. The headphones controls do not work and they literally act like a set of wired headphones with any changes being made to the audio program/device you use to listen to. CONS -- A little on the heavy (weight) side. If you bend over forwards or lean your head backwards, the part on top of your head is heavy enough that it will rotate due to gravity and try to fall off your head. -- The complete spectrum of sound was not as complete as I would have hoped - mostly the highs. -- When changes are made (bass effect on/off, NC on/off, there is a voice (coming out of the headphone earpieces) that says what is happening while the song is still playing in the background, but muted while the voice speaks. So you resume your music about 3-5 seconds later. I find that a little annoying when I want to INSTANTLY listen to the differences of sound when I turn on/off a feature, especially the noise cancellation. OTHER NOTES: 1. BT (bluetooth) vs Wired option - the BT does sound better IMO. If your battery dies or you just want to save your battery for later when you need wireless, you can hook up the provided cord and listen - but the quality is definitely better when using BT. 2. Whenever the "Bass Effect" button is pressed, perhaps Sony can offer up a FW update (is that possible for this product?) to be able to turn off the voice saying that it's being turned on or off. I literally HATE this feature is not optional. I don't need the voice telling me - I should be able to tell on my own since the feature should be doing what it's supposed to (either the bass is more or less - duh... or the NC (noise cancellation) is working or not). 3. Note in my picture close-up how the inside of the cup is laid out. The front part of the headphone is angled so that the sound actually is facing at an angle better to enter your ear. They do not interfere with the comfort of my ear and this puts the sound in your ear at a better angle. 4. A nice headphones pouch is provided and it has an additional area inside where you can put your 2 extra cables (audio cable & USB charging cable). Nice touch, however a hard or semi-hard case would be preferable to protect against damage if packed in a bag or suitcase. They cost $250 and should be protected by more than a soft pouch IMO. 5. When BT is active, keep in mind that when connected to a device, you have 2 volumes that you can control... it's best to turn up your "device" volume to 85-100% then adjust the volume of the headphones accordingly. When turning the volume of the headphones up/down, it does NOT control the device volume. It controls the volume of itself. 6. This may be a device feature for the Samsung Galaxy S7, but in order to use the mute/track-forward/backward buttons on the headphones, the app you are using has to be OPEN, not just running in the background. If you have Winamp, Pandora, or other audio program running, but you have another app showing on the screen or just your home page up, you won't be able to control those functions of the music. You can however operate the volume regardless of the app showing on the smartphone. If the app is active and screen is merely OFF, all functionality still works. 7. Regarding the weight again, if you lie down on a pillow, they stay put, but if you get up off that pillow, they may fall off unless you have a big melon. :) These things are definitely mean to be worn in the UPRIGHT position only. 8. Price point is about right when you add up the pros vs cons. Pros outweigh the cons IMO. I have not tested out the complete battery life because I can't keep them going for over 10 hours... however, with that amount of listening on a single charge, this is a very worthwhile purchase. 9. I listened to the same song on a pair of Sony MDR XB920 wired headphones that my son uses, and his pair do sound BETTER than these. There is a bit more clarity in the voice and high frequencies (drums/hi-hat cymbals). Note that the Sony app is meant to be used with their newest headphones I believe. I'm not sure how the app works with the regular BT version of these headphones, but these Noise Cancelling BT versions had NO problem connecting to my phone at all. All connections were automatic after pairing up initially with NFC.

I got these for myself at Christmas because of the recommendation of the Best Buy staff. I've loved them for 2 1/2 months. The pairing and charging is good. The charge last a long time. The noise canceling works great. Some of the buttons on the head phoes are too easy to turn on like BaseEffect. I use these so I don't have to listen to news when I'm cooking dinner ( In-Laws ). I just picked them up and noticed that they broke at a weak point. They were never dropped or abused. Mostly used around the house while in-laws were watching TV. Hopefully the pictures show what I'm talking about.

I really enjoyed these headphones. I bought them in June 2017, and have loved them ever since. However, yesterday the swivel mechanism on the right side snapped. I don't even know how it snapped. I just put them on, they felt funny, and saw it was broken. Very disappointing. The headphones still sound awesome, but the fact that it snapped after less than a year leads me to believe there's either a design flaw, or a quality issue. I am going to reach out to Besy Buy to see what they can do.
