I admire all the engineering and technology that went into this product. The car is as fancy as a rc car can get. You need alot of space in order to play with this car.

Son loves cars. Grew up watching the movies. He was happy to see this thing come alive. Only thing I noticed is sometimes it can be finicky connecting to the iPhone. Loud and fun. Still trying to figure out how to watch movies and have it react to them.

Have not used it yet. Bought it for my son to give on Xmas. He should love it.

If you're big fan of cars , you should have this toy , easy to play however only problem is downloading the app , overall this car is awesome

we have purchased sphero in the past. We got the BB-8 and the BB-8 SE versions at home and my kids love playing with them. However, when I saw they were releasing one with Disney Cars (lightning McQueen) I wanted to get it when possible. The details and craftsmanship on this item is unbelievable!!! it looks like McQueen is alive!!!! I would love for them to incorporate the ability to code with it, but this does not have that yet. Not sure if they will ever include that in the future for this product. It is also a very nice collectable item, but also it is an excellent toy for younger audiences!!!!.

I was very much looking forward to finally getting a Lightning McQueen, when it was on sale for $90. When it arrived, everything looked new and in perfect condition. After a long setup (software updates, etc.), I was finally able to race the car around. It was very impressive how responsive the car is, how animated it is (the LCD eyes, animated mouth, etc.) Played for about 15mins before powering him down and putting him away. The next day I went to play with the car again, taking him to a large open indoor area so I could really see what he could do. This never got to happen though, as he would not longer drive in any direction. The car would turn on like normal. His eyes worked, voice/sfx played, his bouncing motion working, etc. but no matter what was tried, the car would not drive. Kind of the point of a remote control car. After spending a long time on the Sphero help pages, deleting and reinstalling the app, powering on and off, etc. nothing worked and I was forced to return the car. Very sad end for something I was excited to have. I will try Sphero again, but only if they make a Sphero Wall-E.

Great toy but can be hard to control even with experience player. It would be better with remote control rather than controlling by smart phone. The app is easy to install and setting up is easy.

This toy is so cool!! Easy to use. My 9 year old quickly learned how to use it. My 4 year old has used it and bumped it into a wall or two :(

This is not your dad’s remote control car. This is my first remote control car in over 30 years and it is awesome. Some high ights about the car. Besides driving the car, there are motors to control the mouth, suspension, front tires and steering letting you move and drive the car like you see in the movies. The display on the windshield lets you move and control the eye animation which is a hoot for kids. The speaker is loud and easy to hear and Owen Wilson’s voice is super accurate. The car moved quickly and when on a smooth surface it could make super sharp turn and spin/slide. I could even drive over short carpet. You can control the car with either an iphone or android phone. Controls are pretty straight forward. It just took me some time to go from a physical controller to a virtual controller on my cell phone. One of my favorite things about the app was that you could put phrases together to make McQueen say different things and I am hoping that as the App is update there will be more. It takes about 2 hours to charge and I got about 35-40 minutes of drive time. The range was about 80 feet or so which is more than enough for me. If you are a die hard fan of the movies Cars and you want a great RC car this is a good item, but at this price there are better options out there.

This sphero lightning McQueen is absolutely awesome. Highly recommend!! Only problem with the transaction was Best Buy finding excuses not to price match.

Another great Bluetooth robot from Sphero. LED eyes and mouth really help give Lightning personality.

This is a great item. Love that it moves when he talks, just like in the movie! Ka-Cha!!!

I have to say this is a pretty cool toy, if somewhat expensive... To start off, I rated this 4 stars for an adult using it, but I'd probably give it 3 for a kid and I'll explain why in a bit. First, setup is reasonably straightforward, you plug the car in to turn it on for the first time (no on or off switch... odd) and it charges a bit and boots up. You'll hear Lightning McQueen start talking to you when he's ready to go. On your first connect (or two) you will have to download and push an update to the car which takes FOREVER. I had two updates consecutively on separate uses of the car in the same day and they both took quite some time, so be prepared to not play with it for a while when you're first connecting. The voice and sounds on the car are LOUD to start with, and you cannot turn them down until you're done connecting, so with the updates and such you end up with the car talking and revving very loudly until you're able to get in and adjust the volume. Second, for some reason the app wont let you use the car without location services enabled... I'm not entirely sure why a remote control car needs location services when all it does is connect via bluetooth, seems a little invasive. Third, driving Lightning takes a bit of getting used to. The app's default controls are like the sphero orb controls which is to say they dont make a whole lot of sense for controlling a car. You can switch them to the standard two-directional option like an RC car in the settings though, so I'd recommend that. The car is MUCH faster than I had anticipated, and while that's fine for me and for most older children, I had intended on giving this to my son, who is a little bit younger. It would be nice if inside the settings there was a throttle threshold so I could keep it at a reasonable pace for not only his age but inside use so it isn't constantly bouncing off the walls at high speed (this was worth removing a star since Cars is a kids movie, why not make the car from the movie a little more user friendly for a child. Sure the price point of this means that many kids wont have it, but any adult buying this will likely let their child use it at some point even if it wasn't FOR the child). I'm worried that the animatronic face is going to break from hitting the walls too much. I'm sure he'll get used to it, but a maximum speed setting would definitely help. There's a couple of one-button touches for it to do some quick tricks which is neat, but again the sphero controls are just annoying to use. Which brings me to the design of the car itself. The face is a soft rubber to help with the animations of the mouth with Lightning is talking.. Unfortunately the rubber is a little tacky to the touch, which means with it running around on the ground it picks up any sort of stray dust, hair, debris, etc... And it's annoying to clean off. So overall, the toy is pretty cool, but a couple of tweaks to make it so it's a little more friendly to a younger audience (it is a kids movie after all) would make it that much better.

Bought this on sale. It's a quality RC car, heavy enough and has survived numerous wall crashes so far. The LCD screen is very expressive. Has enough vocabulary to occupy small kids for a few days at least, depending on how many other toys they have it could hold their attention for much longer. Not worth full price, but fun for the sale price

The car is great. Built very sturdy. Purchased it without realizing that the control was via an app. Not a toy for young children. I would say this would be an amazing gift for a 10 year old or older. Great price for such an amazing "toy".

Bought this toy for fun to play with small children, However, as it turns out it's more fun to play with pets. Especially dogs.
