I have had my Spot for about a year. I have only used it for emergency once and had a response in minutes while Four Wheeling in the outbacks of Alaska. I have sent messages, programmed into my website or Emergency notification to several people at once You can send predetermined messages to say most anything to several people via the internet and via Satellite all in one notification. In other words, if you have five people on a 4 wheeling ride and want to say different things to all five, then you set up your profiles to say what you want to each of them of them. You also have a 911 that will send an Emergency notice to State, Local and rescue personnel to come to your location for serious injury, or if you just get lost or in a life threatening situation.It can also be used the same as in some GM vehicles, except without voice communication. I can only assure you that notification is rapid! You can also go online after your travels and see the coordinates, picture location on a Google map of your trips and save them or send to all of your friends. I love it.
