This is the new reader from square and it reads smart chips as well as magnetic strips so you are ready for the new cards and requirements. Be warned!!! This baby needs to be charged in order to be used, takes about 15 minutes to get a full charge.

This tool is essential and easy to use for any mobile business. The set up feature are very self explanatory as well at the ease of use to your customers. It also has the capability to personalize your customers accounts and receipts!

Was not compatible with my older ipad. Had to upgrade to an ipad air to be able to collect payments. No issues with use of reader. Very self explanatory

I love the ease of using Square to accept payments. It's great that you can just plug into any phone and use. What's a bit of a downer is that you have to make sure this is charged, but it does come with a cord so you can charge on the go. Definitely a must if you have payers using chip cards. If you swipe a chip card that turns out to be fraudulent, you end up paying for it. If you use the chip option, you won't be.

I've used the Square and decided to try the Square with chip reader because of the change to chip cards. Too many times the chip readers haven't worked when I shopped with small retailers so I was skeptical. Surprise...surprise! I have had the best experience using this updated Square. All of my transactions have processed with no problems.

My husband bought this item for his landscaping/ snow plowing business so he can start accepting credit cards on the go without carrying a machine. Definitely a great item as winter is coming and if someone is stuck and does not have cash they can pay with a credit card. Its also very SECURE for the customer as none of the information is kept and the transaction is automatically made straight to a set up business account.

Finally decided to get this for credit card payments. Glad this version accepts the chip cards too. It's been working great.

I needed to protect my small business, so I didn't want to wait any longer. I didn't realize it had to be charged to use so make sure you don't just take it out of the box and expect to use it right away. It gave me piece of mind knowing my charges were covered and legit.

Only hangup was that it needed to not only be charged, but once plugged into the phone,, didn't work until it updated its own software. That was about a 15 minute delay. or my needs better than the Bluetooth one that would need to be paired and unpaired for different users.

Good device for credit and chip credit cards, but the battery life is rather short, maybe 4 hours and it seems to "fall asleep" alot and you have to replug it to get it to resync with the app. Otherwise it works great, just keep a second one handy.

I purchased this because the one I ordered never arrived from Sqaure directly. It is ok. I can now accept payment with credit cards that have the chip inside. Less hassel.

Don't care for the price, seeing as how the other one was free. Nor do I care for the added hassle of charging the thing. But beside those issues , it does the job.

Switched from the regular reader to the chip and pin plus magnetic reader when the new regulations went into effect. It is a wonderful product with low fees that help with making transactions for a small business easy. I would highly recommend.

Prior to the Square, I would take a wireless credit card machine that my bank sold me to events and off premise locations. I can't remember how much my initial investment was but I know it cost me money in sales I couldn't make. Over half the time it wouldn't work and when you would call they would blame it on the cellular coverage in the area I was in. I called again prior to an event I was doing at the beginning of June and they said that my software was out of date and I would have to get a newer machine to the tune of about $450. I went to Best Buy and bought the Chip Reading Square for like $30. Put the inventory I was taking to the event in the Square software, which I couldn't do with the machine, added the tax to the software, which I couldn't do with the machine, and every single transaction went through flawlessly. Plus at the end of the event, the report was perfect. Can't think of one reason not to have the square, get the chip reader.

Great device I use it in and outside the office. My clients ask about it all the time. Its a time saver and it keeps money in my pocket. I don't have to wait for my money.

I've used square for over a year now and love it! Now with all major banks and credit card companies using chip cards I needed a card reader that would work with the new technology. I have no complaints. Works every time.

This chip card reader is great. it's very simple use. Much easier to use than the usual credit card terminal.

This worked great the 2nd day after I figured out that it didn't work with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 like it stated on the Square website. Once I connected it to my phone the chip card reader worked like it was suppose to. Its really easy to use with chip cards. Really glad I brought this because it is a lot better than the old chip reader.
