For the older folks who loved 64, this is either a nostalgic romp fully realized, or a remake that doesn't do enough to justify it's run time or price. For newer folks, it's a fantastic entry point to Star Fox if you are okay with the intention of high replayability. What I end up liking about the game is the larger scope in story telling when it comes to contextualizing why our band of mercenaries might choose to move through the lylat system the way you do in game. The game runs smooth and looks beautiful. The music is brought to a more cinematic and orchestrated life. The biggest cons one might have probably have to do with price in conjunction with the games short run time. If you are in it for a single run and done, then you won't like this game. Nit picks might have to do with original voice acting changes from 64 and how they depart from a more campy Saturday morning cartoon vibe to the more serious tones the realistic anthropomorphized characters bring to it's feel. At the end of the day, as a nostalgic baited 30 year old...this ROCKS!

Nostalgia is powerful, but not every retro game holds up gameplay-wise over time. Star Fox is one of those exceptions - flying, shooting, and barrel-rolling feels even better than it did 30 years ago and the missions, though still short, are action packed and quick enough to encourage multiple play-throughs. The cinematics make the story of the game come to life and fleshes out the characters well while adding an epic feel to the whole game. In an era of always-online games as a service, open worlds filled with repetitive tasks, and increasing monetization, paid cosmetics, and battle passes, it is refreshing to play a video game that is just that - a video game. Star Fox is an easy game to get into: jump in your Arwing, go shoot some bad guys, save the day. Simple concept. But taking the time to figure out how to get all of the alternate pathways, nailing the warps, and getting all of the medals (and then doing the same thing on Expert mode) expands out the simple moment to moment gameplay. Even with the cinematic and improved storytelling, at its core Star Fox is a high score seeking game, an arcade rarity on modern consoles. The thrill is found in just how many enemies you can take down, besting your records and then going online to see how even more skilled gamers can rack up ridiculous scores before trying their strategies out yourself. The multiplayer mode is limited in maps but it is a lot of fun, and it does include bots for fully offline play (another thing that isn't always there in modern games). The added challenges mode gives you the chance to pick out whichever level you feel like playing and push for alternative goals beyond getting the highest possible score. There is a good deal of deployability in this game, even if it doesn't take you that long to finish a run. If you loved Star Fox 64 you'll love this. If you never gave it a try, this is the best version of a classic N64 game that is worth your time. It's never looked this good, it's never controlled this well, it's never been this approachable, and it is still as great to play as it was decades ago. Well worth the money.

They absolutely nailed this remake of Star Fox 64. Especially if you enjoyed the original game, you owe it to yourself to give this remake a shot. Performance is a consistent 60fps, replay ability is even higher than it was on the original game, and the controls function terrifically.

There's not much that needs to be said about this remake of the classic Star Fox 64. The graphics are goegeous. The controls are really tight and intuitive. And following multiple paths on subsequent replays is a blast, along with a fun multiplayer component. I'd recommend this game for legacy fans as well as new players.

This game is a remake of Starfox 64, but they’ve added extra things like Challenges and an online Battle Mode. I didn’t play much Starfox 64, so I went into this game not knowing much. I absolutely LOVE it. However, it all depends on what you’re looking for. This is an arcade on-rails shooter. To complete the main story (there are multiple endings, as well), it’ll take you maybe an hour or so. But the real fun is in replaying missions, getting medals, unlocking new paths, and completing challenges. If you want only story, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. But if you want story combined with excellent gameplay mechanics and many tasks to complete, this will offer a great time.

Gameplay and ControlsSnappy Mechanics: Controls are streamlined to reduce reliance on complex button combinations, while classic setups and N64 controller support remain available.Alternative Options: Supports unique mouse-style targeting using the Joy-Cons, which adds precision during intense vehicle sequences.Co-op Mode: Allows one player to pilot while another handles the weapons, making it a fun option for shared play or introducing newcomers.Presentation and PerformancePhenomenal Visuals: Powered by advanced rendering, dynamic lighting, and volumetric effects, stages like Corneria look breathtaking with smooth performance and rapid load times.Cinematic Audio: Features a fully voiced cast bringing depth to character interactions alongside a grand, reimagined orchestral score.VerdictWhile short if you stick to a single linear path, the branching missions, hidden routes, and dynamic campaign progression make it the definitive version of the franchise. It hits the target as an absolute must-play system showcase for the platform.

Star Fox looks incredible. This is what stands out to me most. It’s very impressive for this hardware and makes me excited for future switch 2 games to come. The game is basically a 1:1 remake of Star Fox 64, which I like and don’t like. It’s my 2nd game in the series and I’m excited to try the old N64 game, but I would like if they added some new content. There is dogfighting though you can play online and the cutscenes are incredibly cinematic and I love seeing the characters in action.

As a fan that grew up on Starfox 64, I no longer see the need to revisit the older version. This new release is all I need from here on out. It took nothing away from the original experience but added so much more. The game runs a smooth 60FPS, the controls are tighter and the visuals are beautiful, and like their original infinitely replayable. It’s an easy to learn, and even more fu to master experience as you go back through the campaign unlocking different paths and medals. The online is also addicting, with the only thing that falls short is that it’s limited to only 3 maps.

I enjoyed myself. Star Fox is one of the most replayable video games of all time and a personal favorite of mine. This game fleshes out the characters and the graphics are beautiful. But after getting all medals and routes in Normal difficulty, it's hard to play it, yet again, for hard difficulty. If you haven't played Star Fox before, play it. But if you are a veteran of the franchise, yeah you already know what this is. I bought this to support a franchise that's desparate for NEW content.

great remake of a classic from the 90's, preserving the tight game-play and the short story from the original title. The game however is made for today's audience, with smoother movement and graphics that are some of the best Nintendo has put out there. The real fun from this game comes from trying the new routes you fly your ship in, and seeing new story beats that flesh out the universe of the game. The voice acting is poor on this New Switch 2 Exclusive, but the music still has that Nintendo seal of quality!

This is exactly what a remake should be. Gameplay is fast and responsive like the original for the N64. Every aspect of it is a modern upgrade. The visual overhaul is absolutely gorgeous on the Switch 2, soundtrack is of course amazing, and the added cutscenes are all excellent and a welcome edition. I do miss some of the classic dialogue, but the re-worked dialogue is good. The revamped characters are also fun and memorable with some talented artistry, animation, and voice acting. I especially appreciate the branching paths and replayability, much like the original. The added multiplayer and online matchmaking was a pleasant surprise, and I am loving it! The game feels nostalgic and fresh at the same time, and I feel the creators really respected the long-time players with what they've given us. It makes me very excited to see what's to come! Looking very much forward to new installments in this series!

There is no denying the bones of this title are of the N64 era. But that is exactly what those of us who remember it fondly are likely wanting. It maintains the charm of the original, the gameplay, and greatly enhances it with superb modern visuals and cutscenes using the in-game engine to further the story. Controls are responsive (played using the Pro controller 2) and its just a blast. It wont win any awards for the campaign's length but it does allow you to replay it over and choose different paths to utilize vehicles you may have missed on previous play throughs as well as experience levels you missed (it's like a choose your own adventure). Overall it packs nostalgia for existing fans and presents and beautiful and fun campaign to new players looking to dive into the franchise.

I have played the original Starfox for the N64 and WOW! This game looks and feels amazing. Just like the N64 version, its got huge replayablity thanks to its different paths, but this version has new cutscenes and some other goodies. I feel this game is a must have. Get it for yourself, or your kids, anyone. Just get it and enjoy it!

Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2 stays true to the classic game, but what they add are fantastic cut scenes between missions so you have more context about what is happening, and some fun character development. The controls are smooth, graphics are great. Whether you're a long time fan of Star Fox, or just curious, I'd recommend this for anyone.

Star Fox on Switch 2 is an absolute blast! The visuals are gorgeous, the controls feel buttery smooth, and every mission had me chasing higher scores. It perfectly captures the classic arcade feel while looking and playing like a modern game. Do a barrel roll and enjoy the ride! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

To own this game is to experience a beautifully remade world of Star Fox. The upgraded graphics, immersive space environments, and enhanced soundtrack make it an unforgettable experience. I never get tired of playing it. It’s one of the greatest video games I’ve ever owned.

I bought this for my partner, and they absolutely loved it! They said the graphics were beautiful, and the gameplay felt just like playing the original Star Fox 64. They enjoyed it so much that they even bought a wireless Nintendo 64 controller to complete the experience.

Everything that was amazing about the original game is still there and then on top of that, they have added modern cutscenes and interactions between the original Characters. There are a few updated modes that are interesting to try as well. All in all, highly recommended.
