The game is pretty boring and uninspired. Graphics are so so and the only real thing it has going for it are achievements and that it's Star Trek.

Bought for my son for us to play together - was disappointed to find the cover falsely claims 2 player - it was a mistake.

A must-play cooperative experience for Trekkers

Star Trek: The game could have been great. The pre-release trailers gave off a feeling of an epic galactic adventure, equal in scope to such series as Mass Effect with the no-brainer inclusion of co-op.
Sadly, this game isn't quite what it should be.
If the developers had been given just a few more months to polish the experience it would be truly memorable, but as it is now, it's simply good for a fun romp through a thrilling Star Trek storyline bogged down by buggy, unintuitive gameplay.
Above everything else, this game is a third person shooter - and when it functions like one it can be quite fun, offering plenty of weapons besides the standard Starfleet phasers always carried by main characters Kirk and Spock.
Most of the problems arise when it tries to be an adventure-platformer like such AAA games as Uncharted or the recent Tomb Raider reboot and, sadly, the controls simply aren't up to snuff to compete. The camera is often much too close to your character's back, and even if you are granted a wider view it can often lead to you misjudging a jump or missing the next ledge you are required to grab a hold of. This is especially true in splitscreen co-op where it is almost unbearable but, even then, my cousin and I both soldiered on because of how much fun the rest of the game was.
In true Star Trek fashion you must always decide whether to play peacefully and simply stun your opponents to later be taken down by a swift melee strike, or gun them down in cold blood and go against the teachings of Starfleet. using stealth and avoiding conflict altogether is also an option and, in fact, is often and optional objective which can gain you tons of experience to level up your phaser or tri-corder.
Speaking of the tri-corder: here it is used as a means of investigating your environment, scanning foliage, artifacts and even the occasional Tribble to earn the bulk of your XP throughout the game. It functions nearly exactly like Arkham Asylum's detective vision, also allowing you to follow footsteps, blood trails and even spot enemies through walls to allow you time to plan your move.
The story, like the cooperative aspect itself, makes the game worth playing: we pick up after the events of the last Star Trek movie. Kirk has now been Captain of the Enterprise for a while and has gained even more confidence and a reputation for being quite the maverick, quickly leading to some conflict with a superior officer before being forced to handle a life-or-death situation against the reptilian race known as the Gorn.
The graphics truly shine when it comes tot he crew of the Enterprise: everyone looks as they should, resembling their respective actors near-perfectly. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are also particularly great at voicing Kirk and Spock, while the remainder of the cast (returning to their roles from the movie) also do a pretty good job at reciting their lines - with the sole exception being Zoe Saldana, who clearly phoned it in as Uhura and often seemed to be half asleep.
All in all, if you have a buddy to play this game with then I would say go ahead and give it a try. Singleplayer is not quite so fun, with sluggish (and outright stupid) AI controlling whichever of the two main characters you didn't pick. Co-op is almost necessary to make this a valuable purchase - particularly for the mission halfway through the game involving a couple of teleporter guns that may or may not remind you of the portal series. Just sayin'.

I was really happy with this game the graphics were pretty solid except for mouth movement on some of the dialoge. The vocals were excellent and characters reflected there movie counterparts. The story was good and made sense within the star trek universe. There were some pathing problems with the enemies and your companion in single player otherwise very enjoyable.
