I purchased this product to use with my computer, my Laptop and my wife's laptop. It encases a 1TB. Hard drive that I temporarily store hundreds of Nature photos that I and my wife take. This enclosure absolutely fit the bill for me. It is well constructed, Easy to put together and install. It has a very pleasing appearance and is absolutely silent. I don't really care for the extremely bright light at the base of the drive that shows the unit is turned on because it is a distraction when sitting on our work desks, but we will get used to it! All in all, this enclosure is a Fantastic buy! In fact, we are contemplating buying another one or two of these enclosures for our extra drives.

At first glance it's easy to set up for the Average PC enthusiast. Works great for resurrecting those old IDE hard drives. Recover old data, format and simply use it for extra storage. Good for SATA as well for extra storage. Not a bad price to pay.

This enclosure was extremely simple to set up. I would be willing to bet that my 7 year old daughter could have done it. The blue LED lighting is an excellent feature that I overlooked when I was reviewing the products. The only down side is that the enclosure is bulky, but then again I was putting a desktop hard drive into it, so all things considered it's a good buy.

Bought this because the motherboard on one of my desktops was fried by power surge and needed to get access to the files on the hard drive. Installation of the drive in the enclosure was straightforward and relatively easy. The only complaint is that it is somewhat difficult to get the enclosure lined back up and get the screws back in the bottom that hold it together. After that, it plugs in to USB port and is recognized. I pulled the files off the drive, re-formatted as a backup, and am pretty well pleased with it.

High Quality Hard Drive Enclosure. Easy to install hard drive. 1. Unscrew five small screws on bottom of unit. 2. Slide shell from chassis. 3. Connect hard drive data cable. 4. Connect had drive power cable. 5. Insert four screws to mount hard drive to frame. 6. Put shell back on chassis. 7. Squeeze open end of shell together to align holes on bottom. 8. Replace 5 small screws. 9. Plug the unit in. 10. Connect USB cable to enclosure and computer. Flip the switch on the enclosure to on. It took me - literally - less than three minutes to install the drive and hook it up. This is a great enclosure. Even at full price it's worth the cost. I used a $15 coupon :)

Its the Perfect device if you have a PC crash and you don't want to replace it w/ another Desktop. I had an old 12y/o DAW (Music PC) that needed to be upgraded and, instead of going back to a Windows Desktop, I switched to Apple for superior performance (and was considering a Laptop i/o the iMac anyway). I had a 1TB HDD in the old Desktop and didn't wanna burn a ton of DVDs, take the time to transfer via Flash Drive or spend $100 more on an Ext. HDD. So, I got this Enclosure Kit, Transfered everything in less than a 1/2 hour and I now have a 1TB Ext. HDD. Beautiful!

I fried my mother board and had no way to get info off my harddrive. So I bought this case; it was easy to hook the harddrive to it and transfer the information to my new computer. And now I have a backup drive. The case looks pretty good too.

After receiving this hard drive enclosure, I had a hard drive installed and connected to my PC in less than fifteen minutes. Works great and I have had no problems.

Excellent piece if equipment. Kind of big but great for reading hard drive from crashed desktop.

This is my second one and it works great. Only had one month.

I would have given zero stars but was forced to give one. The access speed of this device is dog slow. Good luck trying to get support beyond "the hard drive is recognized". If the drive is seen by the computer then any other problems are passed back to you. When asked whether their engineering team had tested various scenarios and hadn't they run into problems and don't they have a knowledge base of that information they basically repeat "the hard drive is recognized so any issues are with your PC".
