I had been using a Velcro fastened TV cover, but it would constantly come undone due to wind/rain/elements. I am hoping there is no such issue with this product with its sturdy hinges holding cover in place. The product is thoughtfully designed and will, hopefully, keep out the elements for years to come. When the package was delivered it was much heavier than I anticipated (had not considered the TV mount) and I also thought there is no way a 55inch TV would fit (had not considered there were 2 sides for back and cover to be put together). Once I had determined all of that - it was time to proceed. Unboxing was easy and the back shell and front cover pieces are made of light weight UV resistant plastic that made it easy to move around by yourself. The instructions were comprehensive and made putting everything together easy. There is a link to installation video as well. Using an outdoor table as my work bench I started with the back shell. All hardware is provided and following step-by-step instructions made it easy to put together. The front cover was a tad more difficult as the center brace bolts barely fit through to get a nut on them, but got it done by starting at one end tightening as I went along. Overall took me about an hour. The lockable latches on the sides are very nice as is the provided power strip and fan. Ultimately it would have been easier to put together with help. Then it was time to find studs (we have stucco – not fun) but once done, mounting the back shell and the TV mount went smoothly but is 2-person job, minimum. Can be installed on stucco, brick, concrete, wood studs, etc. The TV mount does extend with 5⁰/-15⁰ tilt and +/- 180⁰ swivel and seems sturdy. Can accommodate VESA mounting patterns including 100 mm x 100 mm, 200 mm x 100 mm, 200 mm x 200 mm, 300 mm x 200 mm, 300 mm x 300 mm, 400 mm x 400 mm, 600 mm x 400 mm. Final dimensions of the unit were about 55 inches wide by 8 inches deep by 33 inches tall. We wound up installing a 44-inch TV as the 55 inch we were going to use was too big. It is an older LED TV and has a large bevel around it, so beware of that. The instructions mention maximum size of TV is 51 inches wide by 28 inches tall by 6 inches deep. It doesn’t rain that often where I live so I took a garden hose and lightly sprayed the unit and didn’t find any leaks, so that hopefully won’t change over time. Sun does take its toll here though so hopefully UV plastic can withstand that. 1 year warranty is what I could determine. I am disappointed with the warranty, but the unit seems sturdy and well designed. Time will tell but I think it is worth a look and would recommend it.

The storm shell is pretty straightforward and will serve and protect….your tv, that is. The storm shell comes well equipped with everything you need to mount the product, mount your tv, electrically secure your tv, and ventilation. The shell comes in 4 pieces which are very easy to assemble with the provided screws and washers. I’d recommend assembling the shell on a large flat surface as you’ll need the stability of the flexible shell to make sure the screws are in place and even. After assembling the shell I ran into my first issue….though the shell comes with pre-drilled holes, mine was missing a set of holes to mount the power strip. I had to drill holes into the shell myself, in hopes that the holes are even and level and most importantly, the power strip is in a position which doesn’t obstruct the tv. Immediately after the power strip, I ran into my next issue/gripe. The provided cover hooks could use a bit more strength as they easily bent when my shell was bumped and lightly pushed against the back of a chair. The bend wasn’t horrible, it simply curved along the bottom of the shell in the same shape as the shell. Moving on, I didn’t run into any other issues. It nice the shell was fully assembled, mounting was a breeze and took less than 10 minutes to get fully mounted. Now, I didn’t have any issues but I have one final gripe. When securing the tv bracket to the inside shell I noticed the extremely close proximity of the screw head for the mounts swivel arm, to the opening for the lag bolts along the left side of the tv bracket. I use a gator grip socket for the lag bolts, which may simply be too large. But, for anyone else wanting to use a gator grip, expect the clearance for the tool to be minimal, at best. Now for the overall review….with the shell fully mounted and the shell front attached and locked, I wanted to test the resistance to something as simple as water. So I painted a bit of water along the top of the shell to text for any openings or gaps. After removing the shell front I saw a trail of water along the back of the shell inside. I could pinpoint the waters entrance at the very top where the two halves of the rear shell connect. The water went down along the interior back wall and pooled at the bottom of the shell. For this product to specifically keep weather out, it sure didn’t do a good job of keeping a little lightly poured water out. I’m sure the storm shell can protect my tv from the wind and leaves but this is a red flag for me. Looks like I’ll have to get some weather strips, disassemble, apply strips, and reassemble. As luck would have it, we ended up having extremely terrible weather this weekend. I opened up the shell and saw a few drops of water once again, that met at the bottom of the shell. The rain wouldn’t be falling straight onto the unit in normal conditions, but the winds and rains were so severe that it battered against the walls. This was a fantastic test. I’m hopeful that the tv will be fine during its time outdoors, but seeing that can still cause a bit of reservation with keeping the tv in it, hence my rating. Only time will tell. My rating, 3 out of 5….easy to assemble, use of regular tv instead of weatherproof, convenience with the provided items, but lacks in performance from very light conditions.

I got this Storm Shell Weatherproof TV Enclosure because we love hanging out in our backyard during the summer and watching baseball games while floating in the pool. We have used TV stands before but when you have those pop-up summer rain storms there's no protection for our non- weatherproof TV. This Storm Shell Weatherproof TV Enclosure is perfect for protecting your TV. I received it in December and didn't really plan to enjoy it until summer time. I figured I would mount it right away and see if it could handle a winter in the California Sierra's. When unpacking, it is a little daunting. I thought it would come a little more pre assembled than it was. The back shell and the cover come unassembled in 4 pieces along with the TV mount, cover braces, attachable power strip, fan, and all the hardware needed. The instruction manual is pretty much useless. Do yourself a favor and follow the link to You Tube video's that help, (but not completely) with setup. Our house has wood studs inside the siding so installation was not to difficult. I would consider myself an above average handyman but it did take all my knowledge along with the videos to mount this Storm Shell Weatherproof TV Enclosure. The day after mounting completion, we had about a weeks worth of rain. To my surprise and pleasure there was not a drop of water inside the shell. I cannot wait until spring/summer time to fully enjoy this Storm Shell Weatherproof TV Enclosure. Watching games in the backyard and not having to worry about bringing the TV inside every night in case of pop up thunderstorms will be a relief. The shell also has lockable latches for extra security.

The Storm Shell 55" Weatherproof Outdoor TV Enclosure is a solid solution for mounting a TV outside and keeping it safe from the elements. I was looking for a solution to mounting a TV to a brick wall near a hot tub we just had installed. Options were whittled down to either an outdoor TV or a weatherproof enclose for a "normal" TV. Outdoor TVs cost anywhere from $4,000 or more so that solution was quickly tossed out. Finding a weatherproof enclosure was the solution. The cost of this enclosure is not cheap. At $600, purchasing this enclosure is an investment; especially since you will also need to purchase the TV to go into the enclosure. But at around $1000, it is still a more cost effective solution than purchasing an outdoor TV outright. Installation of the enclosure is not overly difficult, but two people are recommended due to the size. Installation includes putting the cover and the enclosure box together, installing the fan and power strip. The product comes with the hardware needed to install to a solid concrete wall or stud wall, but if installing on brick or cinderblock, you will have to purchase toggle bolts in order to mount the TV arm safely. Installing required drilling into studs, brick, or concrete so recommend measuring twice and installing once. Overall, the install took me about 5 hours to get the enclosure installed on my brick wall not including the electrical work done to install an outlet inside the box by a licensed electrician. For any relatively confident handy person, you can install the enclosure yourself, but if no, I recommend you hire a handy person to install. It hasn't rained since I installed the enclosure so can't speak to the weatherproofness of the product, but it seems very weathertight. We have enjoyed watching TV when in the hot tub and recommend this product to anyone looking for an outdoor weatherproof TV solution.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience and want to express my frustration. I will NEVER purchase from Best Buy again! For Christmas, I received a Storm Shell - Deluxe Weatherproof TV Enclosure as a gift. Since Christmas, I have been traveling for vacation and dealing with severe snowstorms in my area, along with my demanding work schedule. Due to these circumstances, I had limited time to return the item. I assumed Best Buy had extended their return policy—similar to Amazon—and that I had until January 31st to process the return. Unfortunately, when I attempted to return the item with the original purchase receipt on January 26, I was initially denied a return. After some discussion, I was only offered store credit instead of a full refund. I have a Best Buy rewards account, which provides an extended 60-day return window; however, my wife purchased the item without using my account to maintain the element of surprise. Regardless, considering this was a Christmas gift, I strongly believe the return period should be extended—just as Amazon and other retailers do.

Looks great and works great, i recommend it to protect your investment.

I was informed by the Best Buy installlers told me to purchase the 55” cover, but it was to small for my 50” outdoor tv.

The Storm Shell Deluxe 55 Inch Outdoor TV Cover is an excellent way to protect your TV from the elements so you can enjoy your favorite movies, sports, or TV shows while also enjoying time outdoors. The kit came in a large box that included everyting needed for installation unless you mounting it on block or brick and need toggle bolts. In the box were the enclosure (in 4 pieces that have to be screwed together), the articulating TV wall mount, a power strip, a recirculation fan, and various pieces of hardware for assembly and mounting. Mounting was a straight forward and required minimal special tooling. In my case, since I was mounting it on brick, I needed a hammer drill, but for siding with wood studs and similar substrates, mounting is no more difficult than installing an indoor TV mount. Once installed with the TV mounted on the atriculating bracket, accessing the tv is as simple as flipping 4 latches and removing the cover. The latches also offer provision for a lock to protect your TV from theft. I'm very happy with the Storm Shell and feel confident that it will offer protection for this TV and probably a few more in the coming years. Very nice product.

I've been thinking about putting a TV on our patio for a while but didn't want to run one and didn't want to spend thousands on an outdoor TV. The Storm Shell deluxe weatherproof outdoor 55 inch TV enclosure truly does live up to its name. The enclosure is made of a lightweight UV and impact resistant plastic that does a much better job at protecting your TV than your average velcro TV cover that you commonly find for purchase online. An extendable full motion articulating mount with 180 degree swivel is also included with the enclosure. The front cover also includes lockable latches if you need to secure your outdoor TV. Thoughtfully a cooling fan and power strip are also included in the enclosure which keeps all of your electrical connections weatherproof too. Installation was not too intensive as great instructions are included but keep in my mind you should have someone available to help you with the mounting in order to insure everything is leveled and secure. You should also doublecheck that there are studs behind your mounting holes or you may have to order an optional mounting plate in order to secure the enclosure to the wall. Once you have assembled the the back and mounted it you proceed with installing the mount and then mounting your TV to it. 2 days after I mounted my TV in the enclosure we had wind gust of 40-50 mph for several hours and the TV was dust free. My previous cover would have been flapping around allowing all sorts of dust in. This enclosure is truly weatherproof and time will tell if it is UV resistant.

I really like the idea of buying a "regular" television and protecting it from the weather using this solution especially because the waterproof/weatherproof television market selection is very limited and you usually have to sacrifice features for ruggedness. The kit itself is pretty straightforward and can be installed in about 2 hours start to finish. I have experience mounting television mounts and this one is a little more detailed and will require a little more time to fully install correctly. Once installed, you have a airtight box to mount your television in (think dart board doors). The build quality of this mount is really sturdy and I really can't see it failing for a very long time. I personally could not test the water-tight seal as I live in southern California and have not seen rain for a good while. Sun bleaching however, does not seem to be an issue. Anyone with a balcony, pool, or weather exposed area would get a lot of utility from this impervious to weather super mount for you 55 incher.
