Beware—item arrived without a box, ruining the Christmas surprise for my husband. He saw it right at the door, and I’m puzzled why any company would ship without proper packaging, especially during the holidays. Disappointing experience!

Light Weight Stand with Weak Link

This looked like a medium duty stand in the picture. It was more light duty than I though it would be. The legs are really weak. After about 15 uses, one of the bottom leg sections broke at the clasp. There is a thin white plastic sleeve that fits between the legs at each clasp, and this plastic sleeve broke, so now the leg won't clasp together. This makes the bottom leg sections useless unless you use duct tape. Also, I don't like the handle that's used to position the camera. There is a cup shaped fitting under it with a notch. If you want to tilt the camera all the way forward, the notch has to be lined up straight with the camera before it will tilt. Stand might be ok for limited use a few times a year, but not something for regular use every week or two. I emailed pics to the mfgr and waiting for a response since it has a 'limited lifetime'. Will update if I get a response.

    Good camera stand

I needed a solid but not too heavy duty camera stand to film my kids' recital and I compared a few different ones. This unit is priced reasonably and has a very solid stand that could hold a variety of cameras including a smartphone (with an adapter). The panning grip has a lock which you squeeze to unlock while panning, which in my opinion is a nice design over the other units that use a lever. I'd buy this unit again for a second camera.

    Great Tripod for the price

Great Tripod for the price. My main concern was buying a tripod for my camera that was light enough to cart around but also sturdy enough to be secure during setup. I have looked at several and the Ultra 6000PG was the right choice. It has a great pistol grip for fast movement. Always go with the flip lever locks for securing the legs on expansion, the threaded locks do not hold up. Great purchase!

A Solid Tripod for the Money

I purchased this Sunpak PlatinumPlus tripod to replace an old all-metal tripod that was becoming harder to use due to kinks in the metal. I like the sturdiness yet light weight of the Sunpak over my old model works well with my Nikon D7200. In addition, the low price was excellent. It's a good choice for a non-professional grade tripod.

Having tried a range of tripods over the years, the Sunpak PlatinumPlus Ultra 6000PG stands out for several reasons: Build Quality & Finish: The black finish gives the tripod a sleek look, and it feels well-constructed. The materials used inspire confidence that it can handle a variety of shooting environments. Height & Adjustability: With a 61" reach, this tripod is versatile enough for most standard shooting needs. The various height adjustments are smooth, ensuring I can quickly get the angle I need. Stability: Crucial for any tripod, and the Ultra 6000PG doesn't disappoint. Whether I'm using it indoors or in mildly windy conditions outdoors, it's remained stable, ensuring crisp shots every time. Pistol Grip Ball Head: This is one of the standout features. It allows for quick positioning and locking of the camera, which is especially handy when I'm trying to capture a fleeting moment or adjust on the fly. Portability: Despite its robust build, it's relatively lightweight and comes with a convenient carry bag. It's been an easy companion on my photo walks and outdoor shoots. Price Point: For the features it offers, the PlatinumPlus Ultra 6000PG offers excellent value. It competes well with tripods at a higher price bracket. A slight drawback I've observed is the time it takes to set up and break down when you're in a hurry. While the leg locks are secure, they might require a bit more time than some of the rapid-release systems on pricier models. But once set, it's rock solid. In summary, the Sunpak PlatinumPlus Ultra 6000PG is a reliable tripod for photographers and videographers of all levels. While it might not have some of the bells and whistles of high-end models, it gets the job done and offers excellent value for its price.

The Sunpak Ultra 6000PG tripod is a great buy for the price. It’s sturdy, lightweight, and easy to set up. The 61” height is perfect for most shooting needs, and the pan head moves smoothly for video or photography. Great for beginners or casual use. Definitely worth it!

We bought this tripod for a friend. The tripod is sturdy without being bulky. It's not small but it's able to be compact enough to take on a trip if you plan properly. The grip makes it easy to operate and adjust. Our friends really like it.

This would be a fantastic tripod for someone who doesn't use ultra long zoom lenses. Mine was too big to the ball to hold. Nobody wants a blurry bald eagle. ;). The pistol grip to adjust is awesome though...

This tripod is a sturdy one but having to squeeze the handle/trigger to move the camera left to right could get tiring. If you have a strong enough hand to squeeze for every movement, then this is the right tripod for you. If not, a basic one with out the squeeze handle is recommended.

This tripod, while not the most decked out when compared to the bulkier ones ive seen, it serves me well enough for a nice shot whenever i wanna get some footage on the go. Ive got a sony fx3 w/ a sgma 24-70mm f2.8 e-mount lens. Its my favorite rig.

This is exactly the type of tripod I was looking for. I'm an amateur photographer so I didn't want to break the bank on a tripod, but I wanted it to be sturdy, light, and versatile. It's well manufactured - i.e. no loose parts or poor fits. It's light and compact so very easy to carry. It's versatile - stand anywhere from about 2 feet tall to about 5.5' and can stand on uneven ground easily. It's easy to use, too. The one con I would say is how you have to screw on your camera to the mounting platform, but this is how all the tripods worked (at least the ones I looked at).

Sturdy, lightweight, well-built, and easy to set up and use. The only con is that it doesn't fit well on small camera bag tripod straps. However, that should be a given as it's not a small compact tripod, just something to keep in mind.

I am an amateur photographer who wanted a tripod to take family/friend portraits and nature scenes. This tripod meets all of my needs: I wanted to be able to set it on uneven surfaces (has feet with spherical joints), to be able to adjust to wide range of heights (as low as 2 feet up to 5.5 feet), sturdy/quality construction (inch thick aluminum telescoping legs with strong locks and easy to adjust/maneuver center column and pan head). Best of all it was $50 which was cheaper than the other tripods with similar features so I was happy with that price.

Best Buy has a few of these with a wide range of price, I went in looking for something decent, sturdy and cheap. I think I opened about 4 of them and had them lined up and compared all of them to one another. The two cheapest ones wore flimsy, then there was this one, not flimsy. If a good gust of wind comes by I'm not worried it's going to tip over and damage my camera. It's was at a decent price and when I went to check out it was on sale. I got lucky with this tripod. It's worth the cost, sale or no sale.
