Customers consistently note the high quality of the three included games, frequently citing the nostalgic appeal and overall value as significant positives. Many also enjoy the fun factor and portability of the collection. However, some users point to control and camera issues as potential drawbacks, along with a feeling that the games are not significantly enhanced from their original versions.

A convenient package of 3 great games

Product Quality Itself: A+ Pre-ordered this game from my local store and had absolutely no problem picking it up. The packaging and cartridge were all in perfect condition, and the game works perfectly on my Switch. The game: B+ The game is a collection of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. 64 is a great and deservingly-famous game with retro graphics and controls that may feel a bit outdated. Sunshine is an alright game that is completely worth playing but may feel like the awkward middle child of the bunch. Galaxy is a great game, no questions asked. In terms of bang-for-your-buck, this is an amazing deal to get 3 good Mario games all in one convenient spot on your Switch. If you like Mario, you'll like it. If you or your kids have never played one of these 3 entries before, you'll have a good time trying it out. If you're deeply nostalgic for these games but haven't played them in years, you'll have a good time jumping back into them. My only two criticisms of this game are the lack of additions and the limited-time sales model. Although they weren't necessarily under obligation to, the developer failed to add any sort of interesting content to the collection. There is no delightful hub world or set of hub menus, there's no behind-the-scenes concept art, no extra minigames or new art to commemorate the collection. You can listen to the 3 game soundtracks in-game, which is great. There is a very short blurb for each game describing it and its legacy, but I feel these should have been written to be twice or three times as long. There's nothing connecting the collection all together to make it feel special. As of this writing, the developer has said that this will be a limited-time release, and that you only have until March 2021 to get it. This is a bummer, especially since they claim that even the digital-only copy will be locked away from the eShop on that date. This puts a dampen on what should've been a fun and celebratory mood for these great games. I hope that at some point they will reverse this decision. If you or your kids love Mario, and you haven't just recently played Mario Galaxy yourself, this is a must-buy for Mario fans. If you've played Super Mario Odyssey, these games are similar to that.

    Super-Sized Mario Fun

Whether you've played them 10 times over, or never before, the Super Mario games contained in this compilation are well worth the price of admission - this is one of the best deals on Switch. Contained within this package are the first 3 3D Super Mario games: the pioneering Super Mario 64, the eccentric Super Mario Sunshine, and the dazzling Super Mario Galaxy (at last saved from its Wii-era purgatory). The best game of the package for players in 2021 is Galaxy, with its forgiving difficulty, simple mechanics, and all-around variety and fun. Sunshine is a bit of a mixed bag, and while it looks great on Switch (particularly in handheld mode), it has frustrating tropes held over from previous generations of gaming, and certain design decisions can be mind-numbing, especially if you plan to shoot for 120 stars. Super Mario 64 is overall much more enjoyable to play and complete than Sunshine, but its atrocious camera makes playing it a chore at times. If these games bring back fond memories, the epic nostalgia will blind you to any of these problems - I don't need to sell you on 3D All-Stars. If this is your first go-around, Galaxy alone is worth buying this package for. The only real downside to this collection is its lack of Super Mario Galaxy 2 - come on Nintendo!

This is a great way to experience 3 classic entries in the Mario franchise. Mario 64 is pure nostalgia, and Galaxy holds up as well as the day it came out. Sunshine remains the divisive one out the 3 - with higher levels of difficulty, and unorthodox gameplay mechanics. My only criticism is around Mario 64. As much of a nostalgia trip it is - it quickly shows its age with the antiquated controls and camera movement, with some of the levels being very tedious to maneuver through by modern standards. It at the very least serves to impress that as a kid, I was able to so gracefully play through this game. Overall, still highly recommend. Mario 64 is more of a quick nostalgia trip to put a grin on your face. Sunshine and Galaxy hold up as legitimate games that you could play from start to finish.

This is a great game (These are great games), I never got the chance to play these games on their original consoles, and now I don't have to, I can play them on my Switch and on the go anywhere I want. I plan to 100% all of these games and I'm already over halfway through completing Mario 64, it is great and so much fun. I don't see why people complain about this though, sure it's a little lazy that they didn't make Mario 64 widescreen but who cares? It is an official port of the game that you wouldn't have had otherwise with (from what I've heard) an improved camera. I understand that people could just emulate this game for free in widescreen but you couldn't do that on your Switch without modifying it and the Switch is a great place to play these games now, I personally think that the $60 that it costs is completely worth it for such influential and fun to play games. I would have been nice if they included Galaxy 2 in the collection but they didn't and I'm not complaining, I played through that game once already and had a blast, these are 3 games that I may have never had the chance to play if they had not come to Switch and they are done (slightly) better than the originals in terms of they look better and have better controls, I've heard that if you played the original Sunshine and had muscle memory from its controls though that it is kind of unintuitive to get used to the new ones, which won't bother me but it may some people, but I think it's worth it to be able to play it on Switch, again, great games on a great system just a little laziness from Nintendo but at least we have the games on Switch at all.

The greatness of the games saves the lazy effort

These are three great games. Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy are, in my opinion, a league above Super Mario Sunshine, but even Sunshine is an easy 8/10, so that's saying a lot. Unfortunately, this is a lazy effort by Nintendo. No option for switching inverted/non-inverted controls, no 16:9 ratio for 64, little done to improve the graphics, and Nintendo's ridiculous decision to stop selling the game after March 2021 are serious cons against this game. Yet, the games are so timeless that even years after their release I cannot give this collection a "bad" score, just an average 3/5.

great way to play three mario games! if you are worried about the price... don't be. mario sunshine goes for well over 60 dollars in used condition today, and by the time you add in the other two, you find out its well worth the investment. personally I found galaxy to be the best game here. sunshine is annoying and hardly fun at all in my opinion, but its here too. 64 suffers from not aging well but its definitely worth a play for its historic value alone. there are some finnicky controls here due to it being a port but they don't make the games impossible to play (unless you have joycon drift or something).

This is a game that I had to buy immediately, since it will only be available for 6 months according to Nintendo. The games are not remasters of the games but just a port and brings back the nostalgia to old Mario games you enjoyed playing back in 2007, 2002 or 1996. Mario 64 game has no notable enhancements, the other two you can clearly see the difference between the OG and can tell the ports are much better. The controls are not adapted to the switch which really shows when playing Mario 64 it just feels so clunky makes you wish for a proper remastered version nonetheless still great experience to play.

This is a phenomenal collection of 3D Mario games. Revisiting classic Mario in 2020 has been a delight. These have aged surprisingly well, other than the camera (which is mostly only a problem in Super Mario 64 and Sunshine) and some occasional glitches (that never really disrupted the gameplay). But if you're willing to put up with those slight hiccups that come with its aging, it is certainly worth the price. In all it is a fantastic collection. I'm certainly hoping there is something like this for the Switch with the Legend of Zelda franchise next year.

    Childhood on 1 game card

I'm so glad I picked this up while still available. I'm not sure why Nintendo is doing a limited manufacturing of this collection but I'm glad they made it. These 3 Mario games represent so much of my childhood and it's been great revisiting them. One compliant: I know some have criticized Nintendo for not making some 'quality of life' improvements to Super Mario 64 - namely the camera controls. While that was fairly revolutionary at the time of its release, by today's standards it's painful. Really painful. But I didn't take off a star because if we compare this All Stars collection to the original Super Mario All Stars, these collections were more about bringing together all of Mario's adventures with some cosmetic/graphics updates but not gameplay updates. My point being I found this consistent with what I expected for a new All Stars title. But don't get me wrong... had they actually remade Mario 64 with smooth camera controls that would have been amazing. Summary: For fans of the original games that want to revisit them as they were with some of the rough graphical edges smoothed and improved, this is a great collection. If you're looking for a remake of these games to bring them up to modern gaming standards, this isn't that.

Super Mario 3D All Stars puts Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64, 1996), Super Mario Sunshine (Nintendo GameCube, 2002), and Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo Wii, 2007) together on one Nintendo Switch cartridge with some upgrades. All of the games run at a higher resolution (64: 720p Docked and Handheld; Sunshine and Galaxy: 720p Handheld, 1080p Docked) and have been graphically updated a bit. Super Mario 64, while still running in a 4:3 aspect ratio, has smoother textures and it makes the game look overall cleaner while maintaining the look and feel of the original release. Super Mario Sunshine, running in a 16:9 aspect ratio instead of the original’s 4:3, also has some higher resolution textures added and the game looks as if it could’ve been released as an early Wii U game. The controls were slightly modified from the original release on the GameCube but still feel great. Super Mario Galaxy was by far the game that improved the most from this collection. The game’s controls have been reworked to better fit the Nintendo Switch. You can now Spin by pressing Y instead of shaking your controller, but the option is still there is you want it. Motion controls have been removed in favor of Gyro Controls and in my person experience, they feel great to use. And graphically, the updates make the game look on par with Super Mario Odyssey (Nintendo Switch, 2017). The game also includes the full soundtrack of all 3 games to listen to at any time from the main menu, with about 175 songs to choose from. Now I do believe that the games could’ve been improved a little more, such as adding 16:9 support to Super Mario 64, but the games stand on their own as timeless classics. Oddly, Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo Wii, 2010) is missing from this collection along with Super Mario 64 DS (Nintendo DS, 2006) and Super Mario 3D Land (Nintendo 3DS, 2012), but that’s a story for another day. This collection is a great starting point for anyone who hasn’t played a 3D Mario game or a great nostalgia trip for anyone who played these games when they were younger. Sadly, this collection will only be available until March 31, 2021, which is a huge drawback.

All of these games were at least good, if not great or even exceptional when they released on their office. Playing them again in HD or on the go is great fun. However, this is a very lazy port. There's no option to invert the camera or even swap which hand is which for Mario galaxy with split joy con. If you already have these games and the systems you can play them on and keep them connected to your tv, there's really no new value. Otherwise it's a great deal, 3 amazing games for 20 each.
