    Fantastic Lens w/ Amazing VR

This lens is fantastic. It’s sharp from 70mm all the way to 200mm wide open. It’s a great low light lens. VR is amazing. The build quality is top notch. It doesn’t lengthen to expand to 200mm. It does that internally. The weather sealing is also great. I am in love with this lens. This is the only zoom lens I would ever consider to use for portraits. Just a fantastic lens all around **the best thing about this lens is the Vibration Reduction or VC as they call it. It’s 2nd to none. Better than lenses twice the price. The stills VR setting is such a fantastic feature. It will allow you to hand hold shots at very low shutter speeds. You can shoot 200mm at 1/30 SS or even lower.

Compared to Nikon version this is a bargain. Well built and great quality images. Toll it for a walk around the shore and produced some stellar pics .

I don't make money with my photos, so the Tamron 70-200mm is a much more affordable option for me. I think that this is an excellent lens. I rarely took it off my camera until I purchased the Nikon 200-500mm. I've used it to take my son's and niece's senior portraits. I would recommend this lens.

Initially I was going to purchase the Nikon 70-200 2.8 but, had the chance to test this lens out first. The Tamron is just as sharp as the Nikon, has quick focus and great color. The only differences I've noticed are slight breathing at 200mm and the whites are a bit different. The whites of the Nikon are ever so slightly brighter but, Lightroom can adjust that color difference. I actually like the whites on this lens better. Save your money those differences aren't worth paying an extra 1.5K for. Tamron hit it out of the park with the lens.

I bought this lens for wildlife and sports photography. So far, after 1 month of use, it is really good! Fast focus, sharp photos, not to heavy. The only problem that I had was that the sliding buttons on the lens are somewhat loose. It is possible that you may by accident change the settings.

Warning, I am a bit of a Tamron fan. They are considerably less expensive than oem lenses, are well made, have the ability to work with a hub for firmware updates and focus tweaking....but i havent had to do ANYTHING with these lenses on a Nikon body. I recently switched from Canon to Nikon, replacing my beloved 90mm Macro, 24-70 and 70-200 Tamron lenses and they are all spot on. I kind of feel like I wasted 60 bucks on the Tap-in console. :) The 70-200 is a great all around lens. Is very fast and is incredibly sharp with its VC vibration control. Excellent bokeh and subject isolation and the color rendering is so good with Tamrons lens coatings. Highly recommended.

So the good: very sharp, very fast, great colors. The meh: bokeh isn’t shaped quite the way I like it, but still great. The bad: a little slow to track moving subjects, compared to the Nikkor v2. Still high accuracy, and perhaps even more accuracy if I did it more. About maybe 60% success rate? Which with the Nikkor I had about 78-80% success, so for the price difference, we’ll worth it.

I’ve been contemplating the 70-200 for quite some time. Constantly comparing the Nikon vs. tamron. I recently had chance to use the Nikon when a friend rented for a trip to Yellowstone. It was super impressive, with all the positives that have been reviewed to death. However, I just couldn’t justify double the $$$. Took a chance that the tamron would be as impressive, and the answer is ABSOLUTELY. It took a little adjustment to get a feel for the location of zoom and focus rings (reversed compared to Nikon), but now it’s all good. Overall, absolutely no regrets. It has me seriously thinking about other non-Nikon lenses.

I’ve compared this to the Nikon 70-200 & the canon and no have no qualms with the slight lens breathing. The images are crisp and clean. Lens build is sturdy and I have had no trouble with chromatic aberrations. I highly recommend this lens. I recommend you purchase from B&H photo because you will get the tap in console to do micro adjustments if your camera doesn’t allow it! I’m going to buy the 24-70mm g2 lens as well because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. I just need to rent it and compare with the competitors and I’ll be sure to let you guys know!

I love the sharpness of this lens, I’m getting into sports photography and so far my pictures have been amazing. Other than the fact that this is a heavy lens it’s great for portraits as well as sports. I was hesitant at first but I’m glad that I made thus purchase. I would definitely recommend this lens for most of your photography sessions.

I am using it on my z7 ii and d500. Definitely more bang for the buck compared to the native lens. The s line 70-200mm goes for more than twice the price of this lens. Lens is sharp at 2.8 but really excels at f4. Great for sports photography.
