Do not purchase if you are trying to configure 2 monitors, laptop, wireless mouse and wireless keyboard. Major problems!!!!

Provides docking for both Mac and Win laptops

Needed to connect both a Windows and Mac laptop to an external monitor, wired gigabit ethernet and wireless keyboard/mouse. This docking station accomplished that without a hitch. Now when I move between the Mac and Win system all I have to do is plug the docking station into a USB3 port on the laptop I need to use. The single USB3 port seems to keep up fine with all three connections going through it.
One quirk you should be aware of when using with a Mac is that the Apple DVD player does not display video with the docking station in use. It seems Apple does this to prevent copying of of dvd's, This was a little surprising at first.

Not for Windows 10 HP Laptops

Not compatible with my HP Elite m7 laptop running Windows 10. After upgrading from 8.1 to Win 10, will not allow sound to play when the lid is closed. All other functions work well, but Targus acknowledges some incompatibility with Windows 10. It's ok if you don't mind not being able to hear any sounds. Also, I missed the fact that it does not have a HDMI port. My bad!

I have been using both a laptop and a desktop for a few years and decided I only wanted to work with my laptop. Compared to other products, it is disappointing. There are only 3 USB ports, seems great but keyboard takes 1 and mouse takes 1. This only leaves the one remaining. Also, I do not like the speakers connection being on the front, who unplugs their speakers?!?! It should be on the back, out of the way.
There should also be an ON/OFF switch, but there isn't.
The base stand is removable, which is convenient. However, it does not remove easily! In fact, I sliced open BOTH thumbs trying to take the base off!
Overall, it does what it is supposed to do, but with some inconveniences.
Lastly, the installation was not as easy as I was led to believe. It took almost 45 minutes for the setup.
