This will definitely cool your room if that's your main concern. Yes, it is noisy, even at low speeds, it's natural considering it's using fans to generate cooler air, that's just mechanics. I'm an avid earplug user when I sleep so the noise is irrelevant to me and whenever I'm in my room I'm usually wearing headphones playing games to throw a tantrum over it. If you wish utter silence, consider paying really top dollar for such a thing, assuming it exists. I live in FL and it is incredibly hot and humid, a container or bucket is required for the excess of water it'll spit out, the cooler you want your space, the more water it'll generate. I attached the hose to a 5 gallon bin and while I slept, it'll be halfway in water when I'll wake up, that's roughly an 8hr window. I'm content with the size and don't have to worry about overflowing as I'll empty it throughout the day. If you look at the pictures the hose is being held down by the small black rubber band of the bottom drainage. The hose comes curved so this kept it secure. If you haven't gotten the picture, expect to drain liquid constantly depending how hot it is in your area. It's a minor inconvenience if it means I can have a colder room and be comfortable. Getting up 5-7hrs to dump water is a fantastic trade off for me. I do recommend the setup I made for myself, I use a wooden step tool, 16 inches in height, you can use whatever, the height is what's important, the higher the better, just make sure whatever you use to collect the water is below it. Get a big bin for peace of mind if you intend to run it while you sleep. I also added a sleeve to my hose, it does get very warm pushing all that heat out and I do notice a temperature drop in my room with it. It's optional but I'm trying to maximize my cooling more efficiently. I cannot stress enough how regardless of your location you'd be dumping water. How often, that'll varied. If you think you can go a day without, expect your carpet to be soaked and water all over your tile. It's also the fastest way to break the unit if left ignored. There is no portable AC that won't generate water due to the excess heat it's consuming. Do not waste your time looking for one, they don't exist. That's what they do. Owning any portable AC makes you accountable for its 'waste', in this case, water. If you have a drainage nearby, dump it there, or simply down your toilet or tub. Don't complicate your life. If you're on a budget and want a cooler room? This is a good one. PS the APP is OK, it took a bit to set up and it had mild hiccups but overall works fine, I can control it in the comfort of my bed if I'm feeling rather cold. That's good enough for me.

This item performed as expected. This little unit kept our main living area at a comfortable level until our system was repaired. Easy to install and operate. It ran constantly for 4 days straight without an issue. This would make a great unit for a garage or workshop.

For the size and price you can’t go wrong. The unit was tested to it’s extreme with back to back heat waves and with it being a portable unit you can’t expect a miracle but it worked hard and kept us cooler than outside by a long shot. It is efficient especially when paired with a good fan and most importantly quiet even on its high setting.

We use this air unit in our bedroom, and it does the job pretty well. My only issue is that the tube you put in the window comes out every so often, and you have to manually tape it down. The Wi-Fi is also a a little bit challenging to connect. Other than that, it is a pretty effective unit.

Can’t believe how good this little AC is. It cooled down my large back room in about an hour. The family room is about 20 by 20 feet. It’s light enough to wheel around from room to room. It’s quiet enough to keep it on and sleep comfortably. Easy functions. My only take away is the remote isn’t really needed. For fan speed it’s ok, but other settings you need to be looking at your AC to adjust. Not a dealbreaker for me. Get it when it’s on sale, it’s a steal at $200.

I’m very happy with my purchase. Unit cools down room with ease. It also has a variety of features. It’s a 3 in 1 unit, Cool Fan Dehumidifier It also can be connected to Google or Alexa. When unit reaches desired temperature the unit turns down and restarts when temperature goes up. The window fixture can be installed vertically or horizontal and it’s also slim I recommend to buy this portable A/C

The TCL 300 SqFt Unit works pretty well when it wants to. By that I mean, it'll run the compressor for a bit but then shut off and only run the fan feature while it's on Cool. I don't know if it's a safety feature or a defective unit honestly. Nothing in the instructions explain it properly. Now it does mention to use the Smart Life app for use with your WiFi as the TCL App does not work with it. Thing worked solid up until the weather hit 90s with humidity. The unit is sleak and looks nice but it cooling cycle is very bizarre.

Pricing is fine, function is reasonable. Basic but affordable units. They can be controlled via WiFi but limited functionality. Other units were better for WiFi management. Tech support is limitless as TCL is a big company and outsourced.

    An excellent portable Air Conditioner

TCL 7000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner First impression: My first impression of the TCL 7000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner is that it is an attractive, well-made portable air conditioner. The plastics seem strong, and the wheels roll really easy across carpets and tiles. The automatic vent operates smoothly and seems tight. And the buttons feel firm. The remote is a good size and simple to use. The buttons are clear and easy to determine the function of each one. What’s in the Box: • Air Conditioner • Window Install Kit • Drain Hose • User Manual • Remote Control • 2 Batteries Features: • 3-in-1 AC, Fan, and Dehumidifier • Powerful 7,000 BTU cooling capacity with multiple fan speeds • Smart features allow you to control your unit with the intuitive TCL Home App* or simple voice commands with Alexa and Google Assistant • Cools rooms up to 300 sq. ft. • It has a Dehumidifier mode. • Sets up in minutes with simple in-app instructions (installation kit included) • Glides from room to room with the handles and wheels • Keep your energy bill low with Sleep mode and the 24-Hour Timer • Designed to restart automatically after a power outage with Auto Restart • Includes a washable and reusable filter • Window Compatibility: Vertical sliding and horizontal sliding windows (no casement windows) with up to a 59-inch opening clearance. Technical Specifications: • Name: H7P38W • A/C Cooling Rate (BTU/hr): 7,000 BTU SACC • A/C Coverage Area (sq. ft.): 300 • Product Size (WxDxH): 15.30" x 24.80" x 14.00" • Product Weight: 49.30 lbs Setup: I have set up quite a few of these, and they are all very similar. Set up on the TCL 7000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner follows right along with them. The biggest difference between the portable air conditioners that I see is the window kit. The TCL has a very sturdy hose. That’s good, because that means it will do a much better job staying attached to the hose inlet and outlet adapters. And the Window slider kit is just as rugged as their commercial counterparts, yet is longer than the last one I used, easily fitting a wider window. After verifying that the drain caps are in place and the window kit was in place, the unit is ready to be used. At this point, you can use the remote and/or pair the air conditioner with the app. App: Getting the App set up was a bit of a challenge. TCL’s website says to use the TCL Home App. It even includes instructions with screenshots showing the TCL Home App. I tried using the TCL Home App but was unable to get the device to connect with the Air Conditioner. Then I looked in the User Manual and it said to do a search for “Smart Life – Smart Living.” I found that app and installed it. While I was going through the app, it found the air conditioner and allowed me to install it. The app is very basic, but I like that. When controlling a portable air conditioner, I don’t need all the features I have in my home air conditioner. It controls the power, temperature and fan speed, allows you to change modes, and sets a timer. It has a clean interface and responds instantly. And unlike the TCL Home app which only runs on 2.4 GHz, this app runs on both 2.4 and 5 GHz. Performance: My test started in the Master Bedroom. We turned off our home A/C and let the room warm up to 80°. We closed the door, and within 15 minutes it was comfortable, and at 30 minutes it cooled down to 70°. This air conditioner moved a lot of air for a smaller unit. Then I set the unit to 64°, the lowest temperature it can cool handle. In a short period of time, it got the room down to 64°. Next, we put it in our living room. This area is about 600 sq. ft., twice the size of TCL’s max coverage area. Running on high for 20 minutes dropped the room’s temperature by 1°. This is not a sealed room; it opens into the kitchen on one side and the stairwell on the other. But it was still able to lower the temp, even if only 1°. And while running on high, I could feel the air flow farther away than on some larger units I have used in the past. All of this is way above and beyond the published technical specifications of the TCL H7P38W. I didn’t expect it to budge the temperature, but I was pleasantly surprised. Conclusion: I have used quite a lot of portable air conditioners, from units smaller than this one to commercial units twice as large. Along the way, you get an idea of how a unit will perform before turning it on. But the TCL 7000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner is punching above its weight. It is far more powerful than what I expected from a unit this size. It has amazing cooling, amazing features, a very nice remote, and has built-in Wi-Fi so you can use an app and not have to be close to it. I don’t think there is a better portable air conditioner for the price. Despite the problem I had with the contradictions in the manuals for which app to use. I rate the TCL 7000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner as 5 out of 5. I highly recommend this unit.

My bedroom is upstairs and gets considerably warmer at night. I was hoping this TCL portable air conditioner was perfect for our needs. There’s one drawback that will keep me from using it in my room and I’ll get to that, but I’ll start with the positive. Comes all assembled on wheels and all, with the exception of the vent tube and window fixings for obvious reasons. It’s a heavy little sucker, either that or I’m just getting old. I believe it’s around 50-60lbs best guess. There are handles built into the sides towards the top. All in all, the weights not an issue if taking up or down stairs, once you get it to level ground. It rolls on level ground good, although a little harder to push on carpet. It’s super easy to set everything up. Hook the vent tube up to the plastic coupling for the back of the unit, and hook it up to the plastic coupling to attach to the window components. These attach very nicely with a strong union and no issue with the vent not sealing. Nice job TCL, these are well made, not like some cheap vent tubes you’d buy from a hardware store for say a clothes dryer. You’ll have to cut the horizontal window attachment component, to fit for different window sizes. This TCL portable air conditioner will work for any window up to 59”. This AC unit is a BEAST, cools extremely fast and extremely well. Once you turn it on, the vents on the top automatically open and fluctuate up and down to disperse the cool air at different levels in your space. There are two fan levels, high and low. The lowest temp setting is 64. The remote control works great and there’s a sleep mode you can initiate. There are controls on top of the unit, but you can only use the remote to initiate sleep mode. Sleep mode gradually reduces the operation as the night progresses. The brightness of the control panel is reduced, and the fan lowered also for a more pleasant operation during nighttime. Cleaning the filters on the back of the unit is really easy. You pop them off and rinse them, then pop them right back in. You can tell they are made well , the built-in screens are strong. I don’t know how they’ll stand the test of time, but they sure look like they’ll hold up well with regular maintenance. Now for my issue with keeping this in my bedroom. The unit has to be 18” away from the window. The vent tube is really big, and for good reason, this unit is powerful. You can feel the heat venting out the tube by placing your hand on the side. Because the tube is so big, even bending the vent tube up and to the window, it’s really difficult getting it to have a small footprint in the room. (see photos). I might try to cut the tube but not sure I want to do that. I’ll more than likely end up using this unit in the main level of my home because of this. I wish the vent tube was at the top of the unit so I could bring it closer to the window in my room. That complaint aside, this unit is outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone as a well built , powerful air conditioner with great features. My concern is not enough imo to lose a star, I’m giving this 5 stars. I almost forgot, this unit works with the Smart-Life app which is available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play store. Looking forward to giving my central air a break this summer, and cooling my main level with this awesome unit!

Spring has arrived and the days have gotten a little warmer and that means its time to turn the heat down and break out the air conditioner(s) for those of us who are not owners of a home with central air. My old TCL window AC gave out on me and I was looking to replace it and luckily enough I came across this portable AC. Now I must admit I have never owned a portable AC so I was not entirely sure of what to expect long term being that the portable version is indoors sitting in my bedroom. But overall, I am mostly pleased with my unit. Without further delay let us get this review started. Upon receiving the box, it was a little hefty and I was able to get upstairs alone. It has a little weight to it which is to be expected air conditioners are not generally light. If I am not mistaken it is roughly fifty pounds the unit itself. You will find all that you need to get it up and running. The window kit was simple and it did take a little bit of measuring and a moderate amount of work to set up the window kit. I am no handyman but I was able to get the window kit set up and installed. Now the part I am not used to is the vent hose that attaches to the window bracket. The hose is a little difficult to setup and attaching it to the unit is simple but I wanted it in a very specific space and this as a result took more space than I would like. Please be aware that this can not sit directly in front of the window due to the hose being stiff and the unit being on the floor you will need a decent amount of space. Ultimately, I placed my unit sideways to keep it in the small space that I have. This is advertised to cool a 300 sq ft room and my bedroom is that size and it does the job well. I love the fact that this has built in Wi-Fi. I was able to download the “smart living” application on my phone and it works perfectly. You can turn it on remotely if need be and come home to a cool living space, the remote is nice and is a good size and is slim and easy to operate with one hand. :::Pros & Cons::: Pros - The wheels are great quality even on carpeted flooring - Fairly lightweight - Very easy to use - Wi-Fi capable out of the box no adapter necessary - Smart app capable (once setup) Cons - My only complaint is the hose I understand that is no fault of TCL but more due to my ignorance and not understanding before hand that this is a part of owning a portable air conditioner. It is still annoying enough though having a large vent hose that is not as flexible as I would like. I am sure there is good reason for it to be the way it is. In closing this is a great unit and it does everything as advertised and it does it well just be sure that you buy the appropriate sized unit (BTU) so that it cools your room adequately.

Easy Install, Effective Cooling, Not So Smart

I acquired the TCL 7000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner, Fan & Dehumidifier for use in my two car garage. It gets pretty hot in there in the summer and I like to workout in the garage. So I was thinking that this 7250 BTU unit should do the trick nicely. I wasn't prepared for it to be intended for in-window installation as I don't have a window in my garage. So it took me some time to make a cutout and install a piece of duct and a louvred exhaust to vent the hot air. I first tested it in my office and it did fantastic at reducing the temp in the room. There are multiple windows in this room and a gaming PC, so it can get toasty. It very quickly dropped the temp in the room. I got the exhaust put in my garage and got it all connected. Within a few mins it was already dropping the temp in the garage and was making a noticeable difference in comfort level. I'm going to have to jerry-rig a bucket to drain the condenser into. If your primary intent is to cool a room of appropriate size, in this case 300 sq ft or less, then this device will do great. Where it fell just a single star short for me was with the smart features. The app was pretty much garbage. And it took me multiple attempts to get it connected. Every time I started the add device process it would kick open Google Home and attempt to add Matter in there, but then fail to complete the add process. This has to be a bug. Not sure why it wasn't working. I would prefer it work in Google Home because everything in my home uses Google Home. I did however finally get it working in their smart living app and it was pretty basic functionality. I had to cancel out of the attempted google home connect and switch back to their smart living app. After several failed attempts to connect (claiming bad password) it finally connected. Again there was nothing exciting about the app. So I will likely be using the remote more than anything. I will very likely uninstall the smart living app, as I don't want to have to try and deal with yet another smart home ecosystem. Everything you could do with the remote, could be done in the app. So not a lot of value there unless you could get it talking to Alexa or Google Home for voice control. Overall, I am pretty pleased with this unit. It cools quickly, looks nice, and was relatively easy to install. I would recommend to anyone needing a quick and dirty AC unit.

This TCL Smart Portable AC effectively cools my space and performs well in my large bedroom. Although its temperature setting cannot go below 64°F (unlike my previous portable AC, which reached as low as 60°F), it still creates a consistently comfortable environment. I particularly appreciate the "wind" feature, which provides excellent air circulation and maintains a refreshing atmosphere throughout the night. Ease of Use and Setup: Setting up the unit was a breeze. The included window kit is thoughtfully designed, with sufficient insulation foam to ensure a tight seal that keeps hot air out and cool air in. I had everything properly installed within only a few minutes. There was even a small hose/tube included to use with the dry/dehumidify mode. I encountered some initial issues getting the unit itself put into WiFi setup mode to connect to the mobile app but I haven’t had any issues once it finally connected. Since then, the app has worked seamlessly, and I’ve enjoyed the convenience of hands-free control via Amazon Alexa—making it easy to turn the unit on or off, adjust temperature and different settings using voice commands. Portability is another strong point. The unit is compact, lightweight, and easy to roll from room to room. Seriously, I’m still surprised how small it is compared to other portable AC units I have owned in the past. Maintenance is straightforward as well, with filters that snap in and out effortlessly for cleaning. The only downside is the loud beeping sound when adjusting settings. This can be disruptive, especially at night, as it risks waking my spouse. A feature to disable or mute the beeping would be a welcome improvement. Overall Impression: Despite minor drawbacks, such as the loud beeping and a slightly finicky Wi-Fi setup process, this portable air conditioner excels at what matters most: effective cooling, ease of use, and a space-saving design. The convenient Alexa controls and straightforward installation add to its appeal. I would recommend this unit to anyone seeking an efficient cooling solution.

The TCL Portable Room Air Condition is a wonderful addition to our home's central AC! How so, you may be wondering? We live in a bit of a valley, as such it can get 30 to 40 degrees HOTTER than the coastal areas and our home just happens to face the West. During the hottest time of day the sun bakes us. The last couple of months have seen low temps in the high 30s to the mid 60s so there hasn't been any real need for the AC to be on but...This week temperatures rose into the mid 80s and we just happen to have a room upstairs that despite having 2 AC vents and tinted windows and dark drapes (the highest temp we have reached in our area is 120 degrees F!!) that room cooks and is a miserable place to try and sleep, especially in the daytime when our son who works evenings is trying to sleep! When we installed the TCL Portable AC in his room, it was 85 degrees outside and 93 in his room. We did not turn on the Central AC during this modest but very real world test of the Unit. Within an hour in this 10 X 12 room with the AC set to cool down to 65 degrees, the temperature had dropped to 73 (and dropped even more later) degrees! This is FANTASTIC real world results and I cannot express how thrilled we are with these results! Within the next 2 or so months we will install it for a weekend day in our garage as this is the location of our workbench and weight room. Nothing saps the strength from a workout like 100+ degree afternoon temperatures so my son, my son-in-law and I are looking forward to this experiment. It is nowhere near that temperature now so there is no real word results to be gained by testing it in there at this moment in time. The TCL Portable AC is very easy to install in our horizontally opening windows and setup took mere minutes to accomplish, even for someone like me, a senior with a physical handicap. However the caveat is that I needed my son to carry the unit upstairs for me as that would prove too much for me to do alone and he did so by himself quite easily! Having said all that I can honestly state without reservation that this Air Condition is highly recommended by me and my family. I can also state that if it cools our garage weight training area in the next couple of months I will be ordering another one from Best Buy to install in there permanently. But given the far greater square footage of our 3 car garage that may not be possible but that does NOT mean this unit does not deserve your attention. It works great in a mid-sized bedroom and we are talking a room that is literally hot enough in the summer months to never cool down enough via our homes Central AC. I am more than satisfied with this wonderful portable AC from TCL and Best Buy and I think if your situation is like ours, you will be too.
