    Best Fantasy/Action Adventure Trilogy!

I first saw Lord of the Rings back when I was in college. Was playing "Never Have I Ever" and was one of the few in the group that had not seen any of LoTR. Started watching The Fellowship of the Ring on VHS on a very small screen in the college library. Was instantly hooked (even on the small screen) and don't think I have ever seen a movie with more edge-of-your-seat excitement! I have seen all 3 movies 5 to 10 times each, and have read the books as well. Peter Jackson does a great job of bringing the spirit and (most) of the story of Tolkien's books to life! Already had the trilogy on DVD but definitely worth getting the BluRays of my favorite movies for better quality, especially because they were on sale.

For years after the Extended Editions first hit the scene, I said (like so many others) that those were the superior versions of the films. These days I'm not so sure. For instance, in the Two Towers, there are scenes I never really cared for that almost turned Eowyn into a very unnecessary source of comic relief ("I made some soup. It's hot!"). Regardless, I felt it was time to view these again (I got rid of my DVD copies of the theatrical editions years ago), and if I have to double-dip, $15 is a pretty low price point. Highly recommended to those who either haven't seen the films or just want to see them in their original form(s) again.

    Great Films for Fantasy Fanatics.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy series is one of the most entertaining movie series that I've seen. I appreciate films that don't pass up good writing. I think everyone has raved about a good movie only to be contradicted by the person that says "well the book was so much better". Without digressing into the off topic debate of literature vs screen play I will say that my opinion is that the Rings trilogy did an amazing job accomplishing homage to the books. If you're into the fantasy realm and can appreciate a deep and detailed story full of well defined characters, your time viewing will be time adequately spent.

    Another LOTR video purchase!!

I've now purchased the entire LOTR trilogy of films at least 4 times! I had the full frame dvd's when they first came out, which I gave to a friend when we upgraded our tv sets. Then I bought them on widescreen dvd, then the extended cuts, and now the bluray theatrical cuts. I won't review the films, you either like Peter Jackson's vision or you don't. I will say they look beautiful on bluray (Fellowship theatrical edition does not have the blue/green hue that plagued the extended cut) and it's nice having them all in a space saving set. All 3 movies are contained in a single size bluray case. Watch and enjoy!!

I bought all the multi-disc DVD's when they came out. Roughly 36 or so discs with more information than I'll ever need about the making of the trilogy. Just happened to see this blu-ray of all 3 theatrical releases when I was buying a Roku for my sister. $15 for all 3 couldn't be beat. Despite some criticisms of the films they're probably going to be the best representation of the novels we'll have for some time. Maybe get 4K upgrade if they ever decide to do one but perfectly happy to make do with this collection until then.

I bought this because, at the time, it was nigh impossible to stream these three movies through a single provider. Very frustrating as I had family that were going to New Zealand to visit Hobbtion, but hadn't actually seen all the LotR movies. This set was cheap and effective. I'd recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to deal with the strange an unwieldy passages of streaming movies on seven different providers now-a-days.

I discovered the best way to watch the LOTR trilogy is as closely together as possible. It's helps to recollect what happened from story to story, and to follow the flow of the entire epic. The blu-ray discs are exquisite with clarity and vivid color. The surround sound takes your breath away. You don't have to be an avid fan of Tolkien to get swept away by the magic and splendor of this top notch trilogy. Just allow yourself the allotted time needed (about 3 hours each film) so you're not rushed or interrupted to fully enjoy the experience.

Bought this set to finally show my 10.5 Year old twins. I’ve been waiting for them to be old enough to watch and appreciate these. I already had the extended editions but I wanted to start them off with the OG trilogy and it did not disappoint. Side note, I don’t miss seeing the FBI warning before movies on the digital versions. They asked what that was.

I purchased this set when the price was lowered to $7.99 and I found it to be an irresistible price. Its a tremendous deal for all three movies, while the movies may be just the theatrical versions and not have many special features if at all, for someone who hasn't seen the movies or wants to relive the experience they had seeing them in the theaters, its a must. Thanks Best Buy!

This Bluray bundle is such an amazing trilogy and will become a classic collectors piece. The characters in Tolkiens story are so well written as is the storyline. And Peter Jackson and his team did an incredible job on the digital end and sets. It inspires me that I can conquer challenges despite how "small" and insignificant I sometimes feel in the world. Viva the Hobbits! Small but courageous!

This is a very good value since you get all three of the original theatrical versions of the films. I already have the extended version boxed set on DVD and didn't want to have to upgrade everything to Blu-ray, so I'm happy to have just the original versions on Blu-ray now.

This trilogy is so good that this version is a great way to watch. It's the theatrical version so its watchable in an evening. (There is an extended version of these available, too). Tolkien's fantasy world comes to life and it's such a powerful story of friendships and doing the right thing! Love these Hobbitses!

I owned the expanded editions on DVD and while I enjoy them, sometimes the investment going into them is just a bit too much. So I bought this set on blu-ray. I realized I hadn't actually seen the theatrical editions since they were released in theater. I was very content. Excellent picture and sound quality. Nice slim case to have in the collection.

This was a set to go with my Hobbit set . The picture on these discs is very, very good. The extended versions are I am sure are nice as well, but I did not feel like it was worth the difference in price. Very happy with delivery service too. Ordered on Friday, got it on Monday.

The Lord of the Rings focuses on Frodo (Elijah Wood), a hobbit from an idyllic little slice of paradise called The Shire, who must trek across the treacherous grounds of Middle-earth to destroy an all-powerful ring.

I bought this for my 8 yr old because his older brother took the box set with him to college as it was technically his. Well my youngest went through some serious LOTR withdrawals, so when this showed up on sale one week, I got it for him. The quality is good, but since it is the theatrical presentation, there are parts missing that the box set extended version includes. My 8 yr old noticed it right away so he made sure to point it out to me. Eventually, I will need to get him the box set to satisfy his love for LOTR, but for now this will do fine.

This is all 3 films on bluray. There isn't really any bonus content. These are the bare bones theatrical releases. If you are looking for all the extras, this isn't for you. However, this set cost like 11 bucks. Can't beat that. The plastic on the inside disc holder was cracked on mine so it doesn't hold the disc in and I still gave it 5 stars.
