I was obsessed with the PC game of The Mist when I was in middle school. The movie adds a lot that the short story didn't have, including a lot of new and different monsters--though in "Twilight Zone" fashion, some of the people are also pretty terrible monsters as well. The Mist is a film not afraid to be dark. This story also inspired a TV series based loosely on the short story and this film.

The low budget caused the CGI in the movie to suffer so it's only serviceable effects and it can look low budget at times, but it's incredibly well made with lots of talent with The recourses they had.
