A war movie at its finest. The combat scenes are more than realistic. Action from start to finish. Easily one of the best war series made.

Picked it up for 10 bucks when it was on sale. Tremendous value. Very well made mini series on the pacific theater of war.
Packed with extra content. Enhanced view provides a lot of depth and insight which enriches the show.
One note about the field guide/UI: the field guide feature does not work on my ps4. It also did not work initially on my sony 4k player. I eventually got it to work on my 4k player by tweaking a bunch of settings. Honestly not sure which particular setting did the trick but I guess the point is, if the field guide does not work for you, try playing with the settings of your player for a little bit and it might just work.
One more negative is that the sound does not work out of box. Did not work on my ps4 nor the 4k player out of the box. Again had to adjust the settings to make it work. I have never had this issue with other blu ray discs that I own (not that I own many).
Still, 5 star for the show itself. Really appreciate the film makers and cast members pouring their heart into this production. Wish to see more movies and TVs like this one.

The Pacific is a 2010 television series produced by HBO, Playtone and DreamWorks that premiered on March 14, 2010.
The series is a companion piece to the 2001 miniseries Band of Brothers and focuses on the United States Marine Corps' actions in the Pacific Theater of Operations within the wider Pacific War.
Whereas Band of Brothers followed the men of Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment through the European Theater, The Pacific centers on the experiences of three Marines (Eugene Sledge, Robert Leckie and Medal of Honor recipient John Basilone) who were all in different regiments of the 1st Marine Division.
It features the 1st Marine Division's battles in the Pacific, such as Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Peleliu, and Okinawa, as well as Basilone's involvement in the Battle of Iwo Jima.
It's based primarily on the memoirs of two U.S. Marines: With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa by Eugene Sledge; and Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie.[3] It also draws on Sledge's China Marine[4] and Red Blood, Black Sand, the memoir of Chuck Tatum, a Marine who fought alongside Basilone on Iwo Jima.
Like Band of Brothers, this 10-part mini series focuses on real, actual people who served in the war.
If you enjoyed B of B, you're in for a treat. This beautifully produced, amazing piece of television history must not be missed. I gave this five stars, but it deserves ten.

I loved Band of Brothers (Dir and Produced by Spielberg & Hanks as well) and didn't know about this series until I saw it sitting on the shelf at my local Best Buy. It was on sale at the time for $10 so how could you go wrong with that? Only 3 episodes in and it seems not as riveting as the aforementioned series nor does it draw me in. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but seems to be missing the magic of BofB. The other flaw I would say is the packaging (tin case Blu ray version) the inside case opens up, or should I say rolls out into this line of DVDs longer than my arm and gets very flappy and flimsy. It's the dumbest disc packaging I've ever seen in my entire life. Instead of a book of discs it's like a scroll of discs that folds into itself, but once you "unroll it" it's becomes very unmanageable. Stupid. But I will continue to watch the series none-the-less. Shane from TWD is in the series too.
