I owned this on DVD but looks so much better on bluray,this is a must have in your collection.

The Pacific is a great collection of Blu-ray Dvd’s. The cinematography is breathtakingly beautiful.

A great series by the same makers of Band off Brothers. Very well done. A must see for any WWII buff.

This was an extremely well written, directed and cast series. The resolution is of the highest quality. For under $20 you get the entire 10 part series on five disks plus a bonus features disk that has three parts on the characters and making of the series as well as historical perspectives. If you are a history buff you will find this movie very interesting. Be warned there is of course a lot of graphic violence the effect of which is amplified if you have a home theater system. I had to do some fast forwarding. What really makes the series is the excellent casting and writing. You really are put on an intimate level with the character and each character is casted after an actual Marine who was there. Robert Leckie became a prolific author and wrote several novels. Eugene Sledge also wrote on his experiences. Oh and it is all packaged in a very cool tin. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg did a really superb job with this. Maybe they can come up with a movie based on this series. Well worth the price I paid for it.

Unbelievable war stories are told here - cannot be missed - looks terrific in blu-ray!

Tom Hanks is a great historian, taking books written by the characters and turning it into a miniseries. It just reinforces the appreciation I have for the greatest generation who fought in the South Pacific during WWII and the conditions they had to endure to defeat the Japanese. It's graphic, it's sad, happy for those who made it through, yet had to deal with the memories of what they had to do. And tragic for the families of those who didn't make it home and were buried on islands in the Pacific. Being retired military but not deployed to a war zone in my career, it brought the death, carnage, and what happens a home to light during the war. in that time. The last episode is the toughest, but it ties the series characters and their real life counterparts. Honestly I was tearing up big time by the end of this series, if you don't turn in your man card! I recommend this series whole heartedly. While I haven't watched "Band of Brothers" in its entirety I will be.

I watched this with my teenage nephews. We all watched every minute. Great movie.

This is the best war documentary I have seen in a high definition clarity film.

I was so glad that series was available on Blu-Ray! The Pacific has to be my #1 favorite TV series of all time. Having watched Band of Brothers, The Pacific was next on the list, though it is totally a series on it's own and MUCH more personal. You mainly follow Leckie, Sledge and Basilone's story, 3 outstanding Marines during World War 2. Every episode in this epic story of the Marines during the war in the Pacific is tastefully handled. I am sure it is considered to be an honorable piece of film. It does not glorify the horrors of war, but tries to explain the sheer disgusting act of war in the hopes of us never having such a time ever again. Spielberg and Hanks are so amazingly good at these portrayals. Their work with Band of Brothers was monumental, and this series continues and even improves upon their abilities to tell the stories and keeping them honest and real without glorification.

This is a good series. It shows how the war went.
