A classic made even better with stunning 4K! Thanks BB for having this on an early Black Friday sale(only $7.99)... just in time for a rewatch too, as I just picked-up the new installment, TOP GUN: MAVERICK. Too bad the original director didn't live long enough to make the sequel. Rest in peace, Tony Scott.

Color and sound are excellent. This is always a fun film to watch. I’ve owned previous versions including the first Blu-ray, the 3-D, and now the 4K. Other than the 3-D version, I probably won’t ever watch the Blu-ray version again. It was nice to see the original Paramount/Gulf Western logo, as it was when it released in theaters, the first BluRay had replaced the logo with the 90th Anniversary version,

My first 4k copy had to be replaced, it stuttered and pixelated at the scene where the CAG chewed out Maverick and Goose for the carrier tower fly by. Thankfully the replacement disk had no problems. In the late 70's i was stationed at NAS Miramar, a young AE working on F-14s. So I get a little nostalgic with this movie, I really enjoyed this movie, when it first opened and now, even though I have to overlook some inaccurate proceedures, system functions and flight capabilities of the F-14 as depicted in the movie. It still is, non the less, an outstanding film, the 4k transfer is the best one yet both for visuals and sound. If you "feel the need, the need for speed"... then put this one in your collection. SwArM, -out.

I grew up watching this, I always loved to see the jets and the combat, the opening scenes on the carrier were always the best part to me, but being so young I couldn't really appreciate the movie in its entirety. I've owned every version of this movie and I now have it in 4K.

I wasn't a huge fan of the film, but the 4K is stunning and the best way to watch the movie.

This impressed me thinking how much was restored for picture quality and of course the sound at times can be defending in a good way as those afterburners kick in and the soundtrack kicks in. Nothing like Highway to the Danger Zone in full surround using Atmos 7.4.2 sound.

Top Gun - remember this blockbuster movie from 1986. Now it’s available on 4K with its enhanced audio and video quality in which the movie looks like it was just made yesterday. This movie is a must have for those die hard action fans who love a great soundtrack. Contains the absolute best shot aerial jet sequences ever filmed. Now go and purchase your UltraHD copy now!

This was a double dip for me. I have the 3D and blu ray. The original blu ray was blown out to look very hot. The colors were off. The 4K and blu ray were both remastered off the originals to make this a great picture improvement...the best thing it is finally mixed in Dolby Atmos! A great addition to the discs you may already have. Worth the double dip if you have a home theater setup!

The original flyboy fan club adrenaline laden big screen cinematic treat from the 1980s that served as a great promotion for the U.S. Navy. This is not a film review but the video quality is not as sharp in terms of color contrast and light to dark shadow depth as the 35mm film or IMAX re-release. Still, a must purchase for your home theater especially to show off your subwoofers as the surround imagery is very good.

The 4K remastered picture is stunning. Dolby Vision is a huge improvement. The 5.1 sound is great and if you have the system, the added Dolby ATMOS is well worth drilling 4 holes in your ceiling for ATMOS speakers. You need 4 speakers not 2 for the true immersive experience.

This is one of the movies that I have bought from VHS to DVD to Blu-ray to now 4K! I believe it's a must-have in every movie collector's collection!

We all know that sequals hardly every live up to the first film. Maverick is definitely one of those movies that is done perfectly. Even the cinematography screen 80's. Highly recommend this movie, just make sure to turn up the bass!!!!

I already had this movie on Blu-ray however with Atmos and 4K I couldn’t resist the upgrades; this is the type of film that begs for fans like myself to have a look. So with jets and areal dog fights all over my home theater and a good sound track what’s not to like and the film in one of Tom Cruises better early ones. It’s a good upgrade for fans

This review is for the 4K DVD. I give it 3 stars because the video is too grainy for me. Almost as grainy as the 4K transfers of Pearl Harbor and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. Everything else is great: sound, color saturation, etc. I am not technically savvy about video transfers, I am just giving my subjective impressions. If, like me, you dislike scenes that look like been watched through a mild sandstorm, then this 4K transfer will not be enjoyable. Stick to the blu ray version, which to me looks way better, except for the color saturation, which is slightly superior in 4K.

This is a classic movie, and it is a must see especially if you have not seen it in HDR/4K and Atoms!!! It shakes the whole house with all the jets going by and I am now hearing sounds that that I never heard from my old 1080P Blu-ray. The image is also clearer and shaper. It is a must have for a 4K collection!

Nice job in upgraded restoration of this first DVD. This 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray was a pleasure to revisit. The rest of the family is looking forward to watching "The Original Top Gun" after they saw the New one that just came out to the theaters.Good

Top Gun is one of my favorite movies from when I was a teenager. Now it looks better than ever in 4K UHD. Including this new copy, I’ve owned it on Blu-ray, DVD, and VHS and watched it at least a dozen times. Definitely recommend it as one of the best of Tom Cruise’s works.

Good quality classic movie. Looks great in 4K with a better palate than the Blu-ray release. While I don't enjoy this movie as much as the more recent Maverick this movie is still great to go back to and rewatch.

This is my favorite movie in the world, and they did a great job remastering it in 4k. You can still see some of the film grain, but that is to be expected when you try to do a 4k version of a 34 year old movie. However, it really does look great, and one day, I'll have a proper sound system so that I can enjoy the improved audio as well
