I don’t buy too many DVDs… But this one was an exception… I watched it in the theater like many people… But it is much better watching it on your 55 inch 4K TV with JBL sound in the comfort of your own home… The clarity of the Blu-ray is amazing…

People are praising the 4K release of this incredible film, my favorite of the year by far. I didn’t buy the 4K because, once again, Paramount failed to include a Blu-ray copy with this release, as they randomly do. No consistency. I don’t buy 4K releases that don’t include a Blu-ray because I have two TVs and not two 4K players/TVs. That’s why studios include DVDs with Blu-ray releases to this day. Options would be appreciated! To the point, the clarity of this release is something I’ve never seen the match. However, Paramount screwed up the color timing horribly once again, just as they did one of the Blu-ray steelbooks of the first film, an anniversary addition if I recall. Now, this one isn’t nearly so botched as the first but, after seeing this movie in the theater 21 times, I’d like to think I know what it should look like, and this ain’t it.

Amazing follow up film to the 1980s classic even though Tom Cruise was featured.

Loved this one when it was in theater. Happy to own it and watch it whenever we want.

It's very, very difficult to do a sequel well, much less elevate it, but "Maverick" has pulled it off. Tom Cruise is excellent, showing some real acting chops in places. The reunion scene with Val Kilmer is genuinely emotional. The introduction of Jennifer Connelly's character is very welcome, and makes sense within the storyline. The new characters are great, but the cinematography is the real star of the show. An excellent movie.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie; it is even better than the original Top Gun. Liked that it continued some parts of the story from the first movie.

For a sequel released 36 years after the original, Top Gun: Maverick has no business being as good as it is but somehow it manages to beat Top Gun in just about every way. It's no wonder it's been nominated for so many top awards, even Oscars. The flight sequences are probably the best you'll ever see on film. The visual effects are nearly seamless with the actual flying they did to film the movie. The cinematography is gorgeous and pops in every scene. The music and score fit right in with the original but without feeling dated or like cheap copies. The story, while simple and somewhat derivative of first film, packs an emotional punch and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire 2+ hour runtime. You can tell Tom Cruise put everything he could into this film because it's probably one of his best acting jobs in years. Every cast member sells their role well, especially Miles Teller, Glenn Powell and Jennifer Connelly. Even Val Kilmer, in the one scene he's in, gives one of the most emotional scenes in the entire film. I'd suggest getting both this and the original and watching them together because they really work nicely together.

A fantastic movie, picks up some years later after the original movie ended. Lots of action and a great story line.

I bought this video partly because of the great reviews and partly out of admiration of Tom Cruise for not bending the knee to the Chinese govt when they demanded to have shoulder patches for Taiwan removed from the flight jackets of the pilots in the movie. Aside from all that, the movie was very entertaining - I liked the original Top Gun and this one follows suit quite well. The story makes sense and is easy to follow with spectacular flight scenes. If you have a chance check out the trivia about the making of this movie on IMDB to see what they had to do to make it as realistic as it is in the film when flight scenes are happening. The one thing I noticed after about half way is that during the course of the movie the "enemy" is always referred to in that generic term where many movies involving the military have nearly always named the enemy as North Korea, Russia, Germans and the like. Not here. Very generic and I suppose clever because this eliminates a named country from declining to show this movie so more money can be made. Also, if you have seen the original movie and remember the actors in it, you may find yourself amazed at one of the characters in this movie that has a striking resemblance to someone in the original. I won't say more to prevent giving away a surprise I had with that. One last note, Jennifer Connelly has a nice role in this movie and she is still as beautiful as in her early films. Bravo to Tom Cruise for adding her to the cast and kudos to all the actors for providing a believable and strong performance of the story.

Excellent story from the past to the future. Thrilling actions and acting.

Great action movie with an old school feel. Fun and entertaining.

This movie played it very safe. In this age of, the message, they made an excellent sequel to Top Gun. After so long and so much political pressure from anti American entities this movie delivered. It did very well for many reasons and hopefully hollyweird gets the point. Probably not. Congratulations to Tom Cruise and everyone else that made this movie.

If you saw Top Gun many years ago you will love this one. Lots of action and the two movies complement each other very well. Now that we have the digital copy we can watch it even when we travel. Great buy and he price was right.

This "Top Gun" topped the first "Top Gun"...!! Action... humor... nostalgia... drama... danger... a guy who does his own amazing stunts... and awesome flying!! What more do ya want?!!
