I previously had a Samsung 42" buying this 48.5 diag. has a little bit bigger picture with same beautiful features and a bit higher quality. The price was what I liked about it. Easy to set up and all the functions are fully explained and what they do for the viewer.

I was looking for a HDTV for my Xbox One S and playing 4K videos from my computer on. This TV by Toshiba has surprised me without even going to "Game Mode" I do not notice ANY input lag on the Xbox and the 4K videos from my PC look beautiful! Google Cast took a little getting used to because it is NOT built-in, however it's a nice feature to have and works as advertised. The remote has NO NUMBERS on it for direct channel entry? However you can use Google Cast as a remote for direct number entry and I am going to try a universal as well.

I purchased this Toshiba tv, after my TCL Rokutv that was a little over year and a half old, went on the fritz. Not happy with TCL.
I've been very happy with the Toshiba so far ; though I do not have very much 4k content to play on it. For the little that I have played, it looks great!
The built in chrome cast is a nice touch too. Do remember this tv, is not a "Smart TV" persi. You cannot install apps on it, but can stream to it, through the chrome cast.
Overall I would recommend this television.

This 49" HDTV and remote work very well in the den.The picture is very good quality and without all the added frills or cost found in some of the other models. This is my third Toshiba Flat Screen TV and I know the Toshiba quality will provide years of great viewing for me.

Great TV so far. Only problem was getting Chromecast to work. Just had to set TV to factory default setting and then the setup was easy. Doesn't work with a kindle fire tablet for chromecast.

Purchased this TV on November 24, 2016. For the entire 2017, TV was fine. Fast forward to Jan 17, 2018, TV suddenly didn’t have any picture. TV comes on and red LED blinks but no picture. I made an appointment to have TV looked at. Jan 24, tech made a visit and officially confirmed my suspicion of TV costing more to repair than it's value. Tech charged me $100 just for the confirmation. TV lasted officially lasted 1 year and 8 weeks before it stopped working. Hopefully someone from Bestbuy reads this, I am very disappointed for purchasing this product. The funny thing is that TV is also stamped with the Bestbuy logo.
I highly do not recommend this product!

Its an good TV and for the price that I got it for, there are no doubt that this is a steal. Its easy to setup and use. Also comes with a Toshiba mobile app which makes using TV easier.
However there is one thing I don't like and hence I am giving it 4 and not 5 star, even though TV is 4K but there is no application that came with the TV that support 4K. To enjoy 4K, you would have to connect it to one of 4K player using HDMI. The TV has in-built chromecast but maximum resolution it support is 720p.
It would have been nice, if the TV comes with 4K player out of box.

I purchased this television online for the bargain price of $400 after tax. Of course, I was a little skeptical of a 4K TV at that price point, but after seeing it in person, I could see it had a great picture. The contrast is nice with deep blacks, although I think you will probably need to turn down the brightness to achieve this. I had to on my set.
Because Playstation VR does not pass through an HDR signal, I did not mind this not having that feature. I didn't really want to bypass it every time I wanted to play a game that utilizes that feature. HDR is amazing and adds a layer of color depth that has to be seen to be believed, but it also tacks on more to the price. I think this is the best set you can buy sans that feature.
All in all, a great purchase if you can get it on sale or under $400. The built in Chrome Cast can stream in 4K from YouTube. The remote sucks with limited functionality (I have a Harmony smart remote to replace it) and you'll need to change the picture mode to game settings every time ypu power it on if you're a gamer, but other than that, it's a solid TV for the money.

I had been kicking around the idea of buying a new TV for nearly a year. When this went on sale for $349, I reluctantly pulled the trigger...not knowing what to expect from a UHD TV at this price point. I am very impressed with the picture quality. The colors seem vivid, and streamed 4K content (provided it was professionally recorded) looks absolutely stunning on this set. The sound quality is mostly good. I found the speakers are plenty loud, although the audio isn't quite as rich as some of the higher-end sets out there. I love the Chromecast feature. Some people are knocking this set because you need a tablet or smartphone to use the streaming apps. I actually prefer things that way. Searching for show titles and content is much easier with a smartphone keyboard than trying to use the arrows on a TV remote control. I have a Roku, and locating content with the remote takes longer. This set is well-made and the picture quality is better than I expected. If you want a UHD television with streaming capabilities, this Toshiba model is definitely worth the money.

Purchased this TV in a package deal with an Xbox one s. With the xbox one s 4k capability the picture was far better than I was expecting! Even watching non 4k programming the TV performs and looks well especially for the price. The chrome cast feature is nice because you can use the Google App on your phone to mirror image ANYTHING from your phone. I haven't tried any of the other apps but I am pleased with what I have used it for. I read some bad reviews about the back lighting on dark screens and I do see that but ONLY if the screen is completely black (like literally nothing playing). Never noticed it while watching TV or gaming. Also the remote doesn't have many options but again for the price and quality it works. I'm really picky and usually have high standards even for discount items and I DO NOT regret buying this TV. If it's on sale I'd go for it if you're looking for no frills but quality image

This TV is pretty basic, I actually bought it to act as a monitor in my narrow living room. Occasionally I mix multitrack audio and need the extra screen real estate to view all the tracks and indicators I need to see on screen at the same time. When using this as a PC monitor, set to PC Mode and change the HDMI input mode to MODE 2 for 4:4:4 chroma. I am not a gamer so I can't offer advice on framerates in HDMI2 mode.
Picture is solid, no splotchy brightness issues. Blacks are not the darkest but with color/gamma calibration on my PC it works great for Netflix.
Very easy to set up and use. Google cast works as expected. Remote is a bit basic, but as I only really use it for power and input selection it isn't really a problem.
At the price of $350 it was a steal. I might be convinced to pay as much as $450, but without more features it would be a stretch.

We bought this on a whim and love it. It's has an awesome picture and sound and the Chromecast is so easy to use. We have Apple TV which can be more cumbersome to use, and even our other Smart TV seems to have too many steps. This one is easy peasy. Download the app and you can control the tv even easier from your phone (or tablet.)
Only drawback is that the remote doesn't light up (harder to see in the dark) and it doesn't have a number pad, so you need to channel up or down. So USE THE APP. It has a channel pad and is super easy. The app solves all the remote problems. We are cable cutters so we use it with a Mohu antenna for local channels, plus Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Apple TV. It easily and quickly switches between them all.

FYI: Toshiba looks to be the Best Buy house brand, as I noticed the Customer Support Sticker in the back saying "Contact Best Buy". With this, I'd say you'd get better service with Best Buy than dealing directly with a manufacturer (for the most part).
Value wise, it's one of the better deals with a Japanese Name brand for a 4K LED Smart TV for this size. There are lesser brand names with lower price point, but I opted to pick Toshiba.
Functionally, very easy to use. The built in Chromecast or "Google Home" works AWESOME when TV is connected to LAN hard line. With WIFI, it's a bit spotty as bandwidth becomes an issue if you have other things connecting to the internet.
So far so good, we'll see how it lasts. For me, if it lasts 5+ years, I'd be happy.
