I was in the market for a replacement for my 40 inch 1080p element tv, it needs to be sent in for refurbishment. I had been on best buy daily to see what sort of deals they had, when I came across this Toshiba 50 inch 4k at the incredible price of 299.99. I couldn't resist. This television features Chromecast, which to a person with a ps4 or xbox one, it will be something you almost never use. But, it's a nice option to have regardless. It also supports HDR playback. Which has it's own set of sliders to adjust. I use a surround sound system for audio, but I tested the audio on this set and it was surprisingly decent. Not surround sound quality by any means but certainly adequate. The picture is very crisp, clean looking AFTER I had adjusted settings. Out of the box it felt like it was lacking color or sort of bland, but now it's beautiful. I highly recommend adjusting the picture asap. Even on 1080p inputs, the quality is dramatically better. I sit about 7 feet from the set and I see so many details it's amazing. The remote control is very responsive and does the job well. Gaming on this television is a joy, I've noticed so much more detail in graphics than when using a 1080p tv. Quick movement is handled well, I tested numerous sports, racing and action titles and it was amazing. Bottom line, if you want quality for budget pricing, pick up this set.

For me, this Toshiba TV was an open box purchase from the local Best Buy. Initially, I had reservations about purchasing the unit, I thought this would be a low-end type of unit, and the 60Hz refresh rate concerned me a bit as well, but took it home to try it since there was a 14 day return policy. After connecting my Amazon Fire TV to the Toshiba TV, I was surprised by the picture quality... I ran some 4K + HDR Amazon content on it and the picture quality was amazing for the price, even the non-HDR 4K content looks great... regular 1080 HD looks good as well. Even with a 60Hz refresh rate, I have not noticed any blurring while viewing fast moving scenes. The built-in Chrome-Cast feature on this TV is great, loved pushing YouTube content to the TV from the Phone/Tablet. Honestly, for the price, this is not a bad deal. I also have a Vizio M Series, this Toshiba TV does not have the dark blacks of the Vizio, but it comes pretty close. If you are looking for an inexpensive TV, this one is a very good choice.

Price was good, nice picture quality and sound. Advantage was the built in chrome cast, easy set up. Didn’t like the tv remote, it had no numbers just up and down features so had to convert to using cable remote. Overall great TV.

Toshiba 50L711U18 looks fine by me

I am only 4-6 feet away from the screen looking at my photos and it looks great for me...good colors and detail on Standard picture mode. I like the display 3 HDMI inputs, a nearby USB port and headphones port to the side. There is an ethernet port, cable/ant, and composite video input going down below those. Lots of options under Picture settings and Advanced Picture Settings, like Picture Mode (Dynamic, Std, Nat, Mov, Gam, PC) and white bal, contrast, noise reduction, etc. I am using a tilt and swing wall mount for the light tv, so not sure about the stability if using the feet provided. The built in Chromecast worked, but I need to be on same wireless router which varies in my house, but a Roku Streaming Stick+ (model 3810RW) works for a 4K movie and the Amazon Fire TV stick is fine. I have a PC into the other HDMI port. Except the Fire Stick started to turn the TV on by itself...had to change the device settings for the stick to not use the HDMI-CEC function. I think that is now fixed. The Fire Stick works fine so far for all its apps, except the new Firefox app tends to get confused skip back when clicking with the hard to control and large "mouse" circle given by the remote. Also currently, the Roku turns off for 10s, then on for 1s repeatedly only when trying to use its Netflix App, the other apps do not cause a problem. Need to look into its relationship to Netflix, very strange. No difference if using TV USB power or external USB power. Turned off 1-touch play. Under Roku Advanced display settings, there is "auto-adjust display refresh rate" ? turned it on (why not?), and "HDR subsampling" currently set to 4:2:0 with another choice of 4:2:2. "use either 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 subsampling when in 4K HDR 60Hz mode. If 4K HDR 60Hz mode is not configured, then this setting will take effect when you switch to 4K HDR 60Hz mode in Settings > Display type. Otherwise, it will take effect immediately." Not sure what this means. The Toshiba 50L711U18 seems to be a great deal at $300 from Best Buy. Got the 5yr Geek Squad warranty as well for $60?

Just before Christmas this was a $299 1 day special. I received it from UPS right before the 1st of this year and so far , I'm impressed . Picture quality, to me, is amazing! The built-in Chromecast is definately a bonus. My family and I connect it to our HP laptop via HDMI and watch movies on it. The speakers have a great sound too, but I've purchased a soundbar for enhanced sound, it mounts right to the tv. Our friends that have been over to visit were impressed with this tv also . Its definatlly worth every penny and I think its even worth the regular price of $349-$399 . Im thinking of purchasing a second one for our family room.

I bought this on sale at a great price and the fact that Chromecast was built in was exactly why I wanted it. I use chromecast to stream all my shows on Netflix, Hulu, etc., since we don't use cable. I also cast my sports via apps like ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, etc. So I hook up the TV, everything looks great watch a movie on Google Play, then I try to cast a hockey game via the Fox Sports app. I got the spinning circle of death. Nothing showed up. So I tried the CBS Sports app. Nothing. NBC Sports App, nothing. I then pulled out my laptop and tried casting it from the website. NOTHING. For some weird reason, the chromecast feature DOES NOT cast sports apps. It works with the basics (Hulu, Netflix, YouTube), but try a Sports App and it wont cast. I wonder if anyone else is having the same issue? We checked the firmware version on the Toshiba website and the TV is updated to the most recent version. Total disappointment. I give it three stars because the TV itself is a nice size, looks clear and was a great price.

Obviously, this is not the best tv money can buy but it is the best tv money can buy for for what you get I am not a huge tv watcher so I didn't want to shell out 800 dollars on a Samsung HDR tv but I still wanted a good 4k tv so I was searching for days on a good tv for cheap and I saw this I thought about it for a few days watched some reviews and decided to buy it and I do not regret buying it I love this thing the picture is nice, I love the built in chromecast and the screen size is perfect for me so if your on a buget for a cheap 4k tv chose this one, it's amazing

We got this on sale for $350. For that price, I really have no complaints. The picture resolution is great, the sound (which was my biggest concern) is great, and there are more than enough inputs/outputs to keep us happy. If I had to mark one negative thing it would be the remote. It doesn't have any numbers. That's a pain when navigating through the antenna channels. We will just get a new universal remote though. No complaints. Wonderful purchase.

I picked this TV up at a day before Christmas sale. My wife and I had been looking for an inexpensive extra tv for a bedroom. This fit the bill perfectly. The Chromecast works great. I'd recommend picking up a firestick or something like that if you want to be able to do stuff without using your phone. The picture quality is great. The remote is easy to use. Like I said, it's a great TV for a great price.

I thought this was a great deal. It has a great picture and chromecast built in makes it convienent. The only thing I didn't like is the remote. Using an antenna for locall stations I can't just input the number I have to scroll around.

I could not be happier with my purchase. I got this TV for $302 after taxes during Black Friday deals. The TV is awesome picture quality is top of the line when viewing 4K content and even a crisp 1080p picture. I wish it was a traditional “smart tv” with built in apps but the chromecast feature is not bad at all there are more chromecast enabled apps then I thought, all my favorites like Netflix, Hulu & of course YouTube. Speakers are very loud no real need for a sound bar in my experience Settings also have all the features I look to change and adjust to my liking, also some pretty decent presets. TV is a bit on the heavier side. Overall perfect TV highly recommended especially if you catch a sale.
