Good computer for a student
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently bought this laptop for my 17 year old daughter for her school needs. She uses it for research, completing online assignments, typing out reports, etc. (sometimes watching movies and Netflix) and she loves it! She enjoys the ability to use touchscreen and she really likes Windows 10 that comes along with it. We haven't had any wifi issues and the set up went well. I would definitely recommend this to a friend and it's perfect for my daughter's needs.

Had to return
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We could not get this laptop to even open a screen in spite of fully charging it. We contacted the Geek Squad who were not able to help, so we returned it. We do intend to order it again, but will wait a few weeks.

Might as well be made of paper
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The touch screen functionality is terrible and I finally just turned it off and used it as a laptop. The screen cracked one month in from a very slight bump. I would rather use a chalkboard than this computer.

Worth the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this unit up for my wife for Christmas during a previous flash sale, and she loves it, I have a Lenovo Yoga Thinkpad with an I5 processor and this Toshiba performs every bit as well. My brother who is an engineer ran diagnostics on both of them and said this Toshiba was performing just as well on speed tests as my much more expensive Thinkpad. And he couldn't believe the price I paid for it. The only complaint is that they keep showing this unit with a lighted keypad in pictures and in reality it does not have a lighted keypad.

COMPUTER GREAT-PARTS HORRIBLE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I researched and finally bought this laptop in January. I had Toshiba before and the case fell apart on it but this seemed to have a stronger case and gave it one more shot. The computer performance itself in every aspect has been one of the best I've had (I've had laptops continuously for almost 30 years). So you ask - then why such a low rating? here is why: I had it closed and leaned up in a safe. It slid down before I could catch it maybe 2 inches. I open it up and the digitizer(touchscreen) broke. It stunned me as the fall was not dramatic at all. Thankfully the LCD screen and laptop works fine BUT now the nightmare scenario... I ordered the part as my son in law is a pro tech (which is why I did not get the warranty). The long story short is the part has been and is still unavailable. Any other part but the digitizer is available (of course). Months have passed now and they say they don't expect it any time soon at all. So now I can't use it in its tablet form or use the touchscreen now because a simple part cannot be reproduced by Toshiba. Toshiba itself has a very strange system of part ordering through their subcompany. For weeks each area: warranty, service, parts - all keep giving me the pass-around one to the other and no answers. It has been horrible. Short advice is...don't get it at all as the digitizer is way way too fragile, or make sure you do get full warranty (but be prepared you may still be without your tool for work or whatever for quite a while). Fantastic computer internally, digitizer is not built sturdy enough for this style of laptop, parts and service are a 1 star for it.

Read before buying..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My dad bought this laptop 2months before I got serious so I was able to get some play time in.. I love the feel of a solid full metal case.. Buttons are soft and have a nice feel ... Speed is better than expected... The only warning I have is, Best Buy shows a picture of a "Lit Keyboard" plus it has it listed in product search with "Backlit keyboard" .. And that's why I bought the newer upgraded model "X" ... To my surprise when I got home... NO BACKLIT KEYBOARD... I called and informed BB BUT they still show it on their site.. Toshiba confirmed this model does not have a backlit keyboard.. 1 star to BEST BUY / 5 star to Toshiba for a great laptop..!

Piece of Garbage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the worst computers I've ever touched. Everything about it was bad. Low budget garbage. I took it back to BB less than 1 week after purchasing. You get what you pay for.

Beware buyer, read this if you want to compromise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am MacBook user for 5 years, because it became so slow (still functional) I decided to go with window to do my homework easier. After compare the screen between my MacBook aluminum(1st gen) and radius 14, I would say that, my 5year old MacBook's screen is much better. I feel radius's screen is not so clear (and not reflex true color#, not sharp enough and it has terrible touch pad, slow processor#i3#. Battery only 3.5 hours continuously #I do not play game# But..., well, it has good speaker, ok touching function on screen, cheap ,price #350 before tax#, sleek design, run fine 6tabs Web, excel, PDF, Word in the same time. I only buy it for doing homework required some software such as excel, SPSS, EVIEWs, so it just fine. If you guys got discount as me #350) so buy it to do decent work, if 500, definitely not worth. P.s, I hate win10, my recommend if you want to use window10, at least core i5, full HD IPS resolution and must have a mouse instead of touch pad.

OK, but hybrid drive is slow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this computer now for about 2 months. Here are the pros: 1. Touchscreen works great and is a helpful feature 2. Lightweight and easy to pack around 3. Good battery life. I used it all day on one charge. 4. Speakers are really good for a computer this size and price. Cons 1. The hybrid drive is slow. It's billed as being quicker and safer than solid state. Safer, maybe? Quicker, no. Often bogs down on websites as if it's having memory issues. Takes a while to even open control panel. 2. Construction isn't great. Already have letters nearly worn off the keyboard. That's ridiculous 3. No DVD drive. Had to finally buy a separate one when I realized I do need it.

Very good machine. Solved wifi issue quickly.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I experienced similar wifi problems that have been mentioned in other reviews: close to my router the wifi connection was great, but try to pass through a wall or two and the wifi was useless. Wifi is not a problem for all other devices in my house and I have a strong AC1900 router. I updated every driver possible for the laptop: Win10, Toshiba drivers, and Intel drivers. The wifi card is an AC3160, and I updated that too. Still, weak wifi performance. Not usable. Suspecting that either it was either 1) just the pain of a low-budget wifi card, or 2) maybe an antenna problem (the coax can come loose at the the wifi card), I returned to the store and explained things. No questions asked, Best Buy just exchanged it in minutes. Honestly, I was skeptical that things would improve but wanted to give it a try. I like the laptop. With the new laptop, the wifi immediately connected at the far side of my house, and has never dropped. Speedtest shows a rock-solid connection, every bit as good as my other devices. All in all, a very nice result. If you are not happy with the wifi connection strength, especially compared other known good devices and driver updates don't help, I definitely suggest making the swap. (If you're outside the exchange period... you might want crack open the case and look for a loose antenna wire.) On all other counts, a very good machine for the money so far.

Nice Little Laptop For the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop to use for basic stuff, no hardcore gaming or anything like that. It serves its purpose and has performed well. Battery life is good, the touch screen works well and is useful, and I haven't experienced any issues. The first thing I did was remove the loads of bloatware that come pre installed. After that, the computer runs like a dream!

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for programming purpose. Install Microsoft visual studio 2015 and SQL server 2014 on this laptop. No problem found while installing. very fast and very smooth when use. This is my third Toshiba product on laptop. Love this one. I used to fix many Lenovo laptops as a tech. So I can compare Toshiba product against Lenovo. Lenovo has "Can Not Power On" issue because of its power on management along with its battery. I trust Toshiba's quality more. I choose this one. Some customers has experienced with froze OS. Might be bad Hard drive or Might be Microsoft updating process. My case was one time at log on display and it was due to updating in background.

A lot of bang for the buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found this computer on sale at a great price. Right out of the box, it was a good performer but after swapping out the spinning hard drive for an SSD, it became an excellent performer. The only issue that I came across related to missing drivers required to reinstall Windows 10. This computer does not ship with a restore disk or much in the way of documentation. Toshiba support was useless. I eventually resorted to doing a clean installation of Windows 10 which rid the computer of all the bloatware. This was probably a good thing but finding all the correct drivers proved to be a time consuming challenge. It would have been great if all the required drivers readily available from one source. Once the upgrade was completed, the computer performed as well as one costing nearly three times as much.

Great value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a computer for my wife. She only needs e-mail and web browsing / shopping and her work computer was heavy and slow. I bought her this so she wouldn't have to bring her computer back and forth from home. This computer is flat out nicer looking than anything else in it's price point hands-down. Enough memory adn hard drive for basic computing and a decent processor compared to others in the price point. The other brands at this price point or less $ are pretty awful in comparison. Windows 10 is still buggy especially when the computer is trying to come out of sleep mode but aside from that it is great.

Great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this laptop for 2 months so far and have really enjoyed it. I like the touchscreen and ease of use. A few downsides are no CD player and it's very sensitive with the screen zoom feature. I'll be typing or scrolling, etc. and somehow I've hit something that causes the screen to zoom in. Overall very happy with this!

Accessories
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is great (besides the lack of the back lit keyboard the BEST BUY specs clearly state it has). Yes, as per the other review responses, the Toshiba does say otherwise but I bought this from Best Buy based on its specs NOT Toshiba! Question: Where do I buy a skin, cover or case for this laptop? I cannot find any on Best Buy or on Toshiba!
