Like the versatility and 14 inch size. I have frequent dropped wifi connections with the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC. All other devices in home have steady connections, can't get any help with problem. Some are saying I have to by a USB wireless N adapter to match my 802 .11n router or buy a new dual band ac router to match the ac in the laptop. Don't know what to do. OUCH !!!!!!

    Awful is an understatement

Brought the 1st unit home and knew I was in for some trouble when I turned it on for the 2nd time after running updates and it took a looong time to load. OK, no problem - it's probably running updates. Nope. All of the updates were finished. So, I start setting up my email account, etc. The thing freezes up so you cannot exit out of the program. After experiencing this intermittently for a few days, I return it to get another unit, thinking I just got a bad one. I take it home. The same behavior. For weeks it would routinely lock up to the point that I could not close any windows. Geek Squad services it by reinstalling everything. I take it home. There were 2 additional updates I had to run. When they were finished, I was instructed to restart the unit. That was on Friday. I was curious to see how long it would take to reboot. It was still "restarting" Saturday afternoon. I replaced it with a less expensive Asus w/ i5 processor that is working like a charm. I am scarred by this experience. It will be a long time before I buy another Toshiba product.

Thank you for the review, Bryan, and sorry to hear about the trouble with your Satellite Radius E45W-C4200Xs.

It's hard to say what was wrong with your units as you've already returned them and gone with a different product. I just want to point out, for future reference, that Toshiba support is available at support.toshiba.com and by phone at 800-457-7777, and most issues are software or configuration related so can be resolved over the phone.

Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba

    Touchpad is a disaster

If it weren't for the terrible touchpad, this would be a nice laptop. Awesome speakers, good tactile keys, nothing but the usual Windows 10 update freeze issues and pre-installed bloatware. But the touchpad...I set all my computers to single-click with high-sensitivity. Unfortunately there is no such thing as high sensitivity on this thing. I sometimes have to click 4-10 times on the left button to get any response. Trying to highlight a word with a double-click in Microsoft Word is impossible. You basically have to pound the touchpad and hope something happens. Truly, inexcusably terrible. I'll give it another week but will probably return it, as I use it for work and it's raising my blood pressure.

    Seems Great, Really Isn't

    Posted .

When I came across this Toshiba Radius in store, it seemed solid and well built, even if the display was one of the worst I have ever seen. At 14", it was highly portable but not too small that I couldn't read the text on the display. Also, you can fold it and use it as a large tablet...perfect for school. But this sleek looking laptop has made the past week a nightmare. In the span of seven days, I have gone through three of these laptops. The first one had a dead pixel, the second one came damaged (from the factory as there was no sign of damage on the box), and the third one (only four days into ownership) developed an entire line of dead pixels on the display. Clearly, Toshiba's quality control is a major issue, particularly with the display (and this is one of the worst displays that I have ever seen on a laptop). Thankfully, Best Buy has a great return policy so that I could get rid of this and go buy a reputable laptop. It's clear that these laptops are great in "initial quality"--look and feel, but I felt very uneasy about owning this permanently. I highly recommend that you look elsewhere for a good 2-1. Toshiba is clearly having problems.

    Keyboard is NOT backlit!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Like the other person, I just bought this today, and my issue is ALSO with the backlit keyboard! This product is advertised as coming with it. This was a major selling point on this model for me since I often work late at night and don't want a lot of lights on in the room. After searching online forums, and even calling Toshiba support, I was told that this model IS NOT equipped with backlit keyboard. The Toshiba tech at first said "oh this is an easy fix, just hold the FN key down and press the Z key." That's also what I read in the online forums. Then he took me through the BIOS settings when that didn't work. The backlit keyboard option isn't even there! Then he asked me if there was an icon on the Z key.... like a rising sun. I said "no." He said that he was sorry but that, plus on his end the specs did not say this model was equipped with a backlit keyboard pretty much sunk the idea that it was even capable of lighting up. SO, I'm on the fence as to whether or not I want to return this. I like everything else and normally love Toshibas, but not to have a major advertised feature? That's not cool BestBuy. I may simply return it and keep my older laptop, also a Toshiba. Or maybe take it back and consider keeping it if they'll offer to knock something off the price. I'm really not happy about this.

Thank you for the review, RNBusinesswoman, and sorry to hear that you expected to find a backlit keyboard on your Satellite E45W.

As you can see on Toshiba's Detailed Spec sheet at http://support.toshiba.com/support/staticContentDetail?contentId=4007688 this model does not feature a backlit keyboard.

Thanks again for the feedback and for choosing Toshiba. Toshiba

I bought this laptop two months ago for my sister and she loves it. So far its really good. The touchscreen is awesome! It has everything she was looking for in a laptop. Useful for school-age to old people. Flexible in switching the laptop mode to tablet, feel like you have a giant tablet on hand.

Should have dug a little deeper

After doin some research, this laptop seemed like the best value between price and performance. Sadly I should have done more research. 1st the positives.....great size, fit and finish. Love the versatility and ability to switch from laptop to tablet. Now the negatives....screen glare is off th charts. Working outside ( or even a window at your back) will render this laptop useless. Even with screen brightness turned all the way up. Mouse pad is extremely sensitive. Every time I this laptop, the screen will change display size. Touch screen crashes every time I flip it to tablet mode. Tried downloading my iCloud and I tunes to view pictures and movies I have. Don't even bother, the system will crash even after reboot. As it stands I will be taking his back tomorrow and paying a little more for an HP or Acer. Sorry Toshiba.

Love that it is touch screen, has vivid color and many other great features. All the different modes let you use it in different settings such as a classroom presentation, paying bills in the house, outdoors in tablet mode, or watching a movie in audience mode.

    Big Disappointment!

I bought this laptop yesterday and I am already having issues. 1. It is very slow. (now I understand why the other people complain from this in their reviews). 2. I am constantly having notifications that the display drivers stopped working. 3. The clock runs five minutes behind even though I chose Central Time for US and Canada. I double checked the time online and with my cell phone and it is 5 min behind! 4. It freezes often and it restarted once on its own due to an error. One thing is sure.. this piece of junk is going back to the store ASAP.

    Toshiba Touch Screen Laptop

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was looking for an inexpensive convertable laptop to use for trading. This laptop does the trick for me. Depending on what you are doing , it will serve you fine. The only issues I have / had with the laptop: 1) the wireless connectivity would intermittently drop and it would delete the wireless profile when rebooting. ****This was fixed by updating the wireless adapter 2) the hinges that allow the screen to fold back are a bit flimsy. Have to be gently when moving the screen to / from tablet configuration. Overall a good laptop for everyday surfing, schoolwork, etc. I don't think it has the horsepower for programs that work with large files on a consistent basis. I run two trading platforms on it and that is about all it can take without slowing down.

BEFORE BUYING TOSHIBA Read other reviews about problems with WIFI and compatibility issues with windows 10. My new TOSHIBA Satellite had significant problems maintaining WIFI connections. November windows 10 update completely crashed computer to blue screen and would not reboot. Had to go back to windows 8.1 until problem can be resolved. Bottom line I have a brand new computer I am willing to sell for cheap.
