    Great product for the price. The touch screen is a nice touch. Only negative is the lack of a built in disc drive.

    Did not expect that touch screen would stop working. Leptop looks and works good otherwise but the touch screen isn't working. I just bought it 15days back. Toshiba customer support wont help. They require me to send the leptop over to them. What an inconvenience. What to do without leptop for couple of weeks in school. Its a great disappointment that they would not replace it just because its one day after 15th day and its manufacturer's fault.

      If a Toshiba support rep wanted you to send your laptop in for warranty repair that means that they determined that the problem cannot be resolved over the phone by software or configuration changes.

    Great Laptop

    I use this laptop at home and for school. I use the HDMI port to attach a larger display and it works great! I have no complaints. The speakers work great and the battery life is better then I expected. For students this is a no brainer.

    I first bought another brand touchscreen laptop -- it was easy to use, easy to flip, and just great. Unfortunately it quit working on me, so I tried this one out. It works great so far, but it's too heavy to be truly tablet portable. I wouldn't buy one this big again.

    This is a good computer that I purchased recently. I'm happy with it and thought it was reasonably priced, BUT, it came out of the box loaded with an amazing variety of malware and viruses which affected both on and off line experiences. It has consumed hours of my time dealing with various issues. Given an internet security package was included it too proved to be a popup nightmare, Definitely a case of buyer beware.

      I can assure you that Toshiba does not ship any product from factory with any malware or virus on it. We take great care to ensure that can't happen at our factories. I wonder if you can describe the behaviors for any specific software title that concerned you. Or, if you prefer, you can contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777.

    Slow is an understatement. Makes my Kindle Fire seem lightning fast. Would not dl Adobe flash took 3 attempts, updates were run, again slooooooooow. restart x 4. Attempted to stream both Netflix and Amazon, resolution was horrendous. I don't have time for this. Going back today and I've had it less than 24 hours. It makes me sad because I love my Toshiba Satellite A665-S5173 - It's almost 6 years old and going strong. I selected this product based on my past experience. Unfortunate.

    No Backlit Keyboard!

    In every description of this tablet it clearly states that it has a backlit keyboard! I just purchased this exact model and I am telling you thet IT DOES NOT! I returned it to best buy and all the techs are totally confused . No one, including Toshiba has an answer so I returned it.

      As you can see on Toshiba's Detailed Spec sheet at http://support.toshiba.com/support/staticContentDetail?contentId=4007688 this model does not feature a backlit keyboard.

    Keeps shuttind down

    Had it for just over 30 days , no major issues, love the size, weight and speed, HOWEVER unit started to and keeps shutting down when i pick it up by the corners... Its really annoying, Sorry to have to give such a low score. Will be going by store tomorrow to have it checked, hopefully its a quick fix, without much hassel.

      You may also contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 to have that symptom analyzed and troubleshot then, if needed, make repair arrangements. I hope you'll update your review once this unit is repaired or replaced to let us know how you like it when you don't have to deal with the odd shutting down issue.

    Bought a touch screen satellite on 9/2013. Keys started falling off after 9 months. Hard drive failed after 11 months. Screen started to separate from case after 15 months. Replacement hard drive failed 1 day after the warranty expired. Really junk. This laptop sits on a counter and was not abused. Never again toshiba.

      Your experience is far from typical, but it's worth noting that both Toshiba and Best Buy offer extended service options that cover defects for an extended period of time (additional years beyond the standard warranty) as well as coverage for accidental damage.

      You can find your nearest Toshiba Authorized Service Provider at support.toshiba.com/aspLocator?subs=tais if you'd like to have your laptop repaired.

    Great laptop, edges weak

    great laptop. It runs a little slow in my opinion. It has a weird thing where you need to push the ON button once, then twice to actually turn it on. Not sure what that is. The edges are a bit annoying because they snap off easily so its easy to get some cosmetic damage on the corners.

    Nicely built but slow and poor wifi

    The AC wireless it came with i was expecting more from. But it had about a 10 foot wifi range and was incredibly slow. Would not even load Netflix using my tested high speed internet. I have a 4 year old hp that is 3x faster. Not saying they are all like that. Returned for a refund.

      While 802.11AC does generally provide improved Wi-Fi performance over earlier standards, it only does so when connected to a router that also supports AC.

    I had not read any of the reviews and purchased this for my wife....general PC user. What a bad laptop! Internet lag and windows update was never there. Just kept thinking about updating...for hours... So, I called tech support...it was a chore to get to talk to someone from a country other than the US or some other country than the US named Steven.....and his recommendation...factory rest...what the goodness?... and he would "guide" me on how to fix it it... ! So, lose all data and go to new from the box...well that is bull stuff! I am taking it back and getting another brand... do NOT waste your time on this SLOOOOOOWWWWW! so, to post I need to review my bad language....hahaha.. so I have edited this post to be kind to 3 year olds...

    I bought this laptop 2 weeks ago. I had to return it because the hard drive failed. I exchanged and got the same laptop. That one failed within a week also. Not very impressed with it when it comes to the hard drive. Everything else was fine.

    Do not buy this laptop unless you do not mind having to turn up the volume on other devices in the room or if you are going to use headphones with it the entire time. I purchased this Laptop and returned it the same day. After having it just long enough to start it up for the first time noticed that the fan is extremely loud and annoying. Don't waste your time

    Purchased this as a gift for someone outside the US. Out of the box, the laptop had a defective motherboard so the laptop could not even be turned on. Toshiba refuses to provide any support outside the US and their only solution is to send it back to the US for them to LOOK at it and determine if it can be fixed. Shipping costs already added up to half the price of the laptop. Additional costs would be more than the price of the laptop. 700$ later, we are stuck with a laptop we have not used a single time and will not be able to use.

      Since the laptop has apparently never been turned on it's possible that there is a battery or power related problem, rather than a defective motherboard. Toshiba has support available throughout Latin America, if that is where the laptop was sent, with phone numbers listed at http://support.toshiba.com/contact for various countries in Central & South America.

      If the problem can't be resolved over the phone, there's not really any question about whether or not it can be fixed if sent to our repair depot -- it absolutely can and will be, if a support agent determines that it is in need of repair.
