it is the slowest running computer i've ever used, it has a i3 processor which isnt the best but it should still be running faster than it is. When i click on a webpage or anything in general it gets the loading symbol on the mouse and takes forever to load what i'm clicking on. Im a pretty patient person so when i say a long time i mean it. It also restarted like 5 different times saying it needed to fix errors. i just got it in the mail today and i'm already having all of these issues.. definitely returning it.

Thank you for the review, Angela, and sorry to hear that you're not happy with the performance of your Satellite E45W, and that it's presenting some sort of error messages and restarting.

Since you posted your review on the same day that you received the unit, it's likely that Windows Update has been busy downloading & installing updates. That's typically the case with brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance until the updating process is completed.

If the error messages continue to appear, I recommend performing a Windows Reset, returning the software installation and Windows configuration to factory condition. This will resolve any issues introduced by software installations or configuration changes. See the Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-do-I-reset-my-Windows-10-computer-to-factory-defaults/ta-p/657990 for detailed instructions.

If the issue persists after the reset, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for further help.

Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba

Thank you for the review, Arlindo, and sorry to hear that you had difficulty establishing a Wi-Fi connection with your Satellite E45W.

You may want to review this Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/Networking-Wi-Fi-Knowledge-Base/What-can-I-do-if-my-Wi-Fi-wireless-isn-t-working-in-Windows-10/ta-p/663603 for Windows 10 Wi-Fi troubleshooting tips.

You didn't mention any error messages, but if Windows is displaying a "limited" or "no connectivity" message or indicating "no Internet access" then there's a very specific fix for that which normally would be automatically installed by Windows Update. Toshiba's Support Bulletin at www.support.toshiba.com/sscontent?contentId=4008443 provides detailed instructions on how to manually implement the solution if it hasn't yet been installed by Windows Update.

Should you need further assistance, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777.

I have other laptops that connects just fine to my router. Was given the run around with the tech support. No one knows what to do. It is the laptop itself. Toshiba needs to recall this unit and fix the problem before marketing it. Definitely returning it.

Thank you for the review, "customer", and sorry to hear about the connectivity problem on your Satellite E45W-C4200X.

If you haven't done so, you may want to update or reinstall your Wi-Fi driver with the software available at support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=1200010650 -- click the "Drivers and Updates" tab and select the "Windows 10" and "Wi-Fi" filters to see the relevant drivers and utilities.

If that doesn't resolve the problem, I recommend performing a Windows Reset to restore the Windows installation and configuration to factory condition. That will eliminate any issue introduced by software or configuration changes. The Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-do-I-reset-my-Windows-10-computer-to-factory-defaults/ta-p/657990 has more details and step-by-step instructions for that process.

    Awful screen

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was Toshiba fan since 1997 - several models was used since then. But never had so bad quality screen. I compared it with my 6 year old Toshiba M645 model's screen with same resolution (1366x768) and old PC was much better than new model. I have tried different solutions - updated drivers, played with different settings, but results were awful. Returned and bought Lenovo.

Computer worked good for 20 days, then died. The worst part was dealing with Toshiba customer service to try and get it fixed. Toshiba had no interest in helping or honoring the warranty. I will never buy a Toshiba again.

I've had problems with this particular model since day one. Bought back in late August and took forever to setup and didn't function properly so I had to restore it before I could even log into it once. Poor quality as well when it comes to durability as well. Wouldn't recommend this one to anyone and I'm a BestBuy employee. Two thumbs down.

Thank you for the review, jamrobdav, and sorry that you had a problem when initially setting up Windows on your Satellite E45W-C4200X.

When you say that you had to restore the laptop before using it, I wonder if you're referring to a Windows Reset. If so, running that process would essentially reinstall the original factory image. If that resolved the problem, which seems to be the case, that might indicate that Windows had somehow become corrupted during the installation process

At any rate, I'm glad to hear that it seems to have resolved the problem.

Regarding your reference to durability, I wonder if you've experienced any specific problem or if it's more of an impression. In any case, I can assure you that all Toshiba products use good quality materials and can be expected to provide many years of reliable service.

Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the initial trouble. Toshiba

I had this computer for less than two years, and is broken. There were little things that I was able to live with, but when it stop working, I just had to write about it. The keyboard had some letters that will get stock and made it hard to type when I upgraded to windows 10 things just got really bad. Don't get this computer.

I just bought it yesterday and there is no word I can describe how disappointed I am in this product. The laptop takes approximately 3 MINUTES to START (?!?). I am a college student and its really frustrating to wait for the computer to be ready while the professors have already been writing notes on the board...

Thank you for the review, Phongtheha, and sorry to hear that you're experiencing an extended startup time with your Satellite E45W.

If you're using Windows Sleep mode (rather than Windows Shut down) the laptop should be ready to use within something in the order of 5 seconds after being turned on. Three minutes sounds more like the time it takes to perform a cold boot, which isn't normally recommended in day to day use for this very reason.

If the laptop is taking 3 minutes to wake from Sleep mode (not cold booting) please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for troubleshooting help.

Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba

Thank you for the review and sorry to hear about the trouble with your Satellite E45W-C4200X.

I wonder if you can clarify by letting us know how many times this laptop has been sent to Toshiba for repair. If you can include a Service Order number I'd be happy to forward the problem report to repair center management for their review.

If you don't have that info available the unit is still under warranty, I recommend contacting Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 and asking to be escalated to Customer Service for further review and evaluation of your case.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba

    Toshiba, NEVER AGAIN

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I will never purchase a Toshiba laptop again, period. My last laptop was Samsung & it worked just perfectly. It suited my needs as a writer very well, but after years of high volume typing and other things, it gave out on me. I went to Best Buy in hopes of finding a new up to date Samsung, but oddly, after shopping three Best Buy's, I could not find even one. I spoke to the salesman about my needs in a laptop, and he highly recommended the Toshiba 3 in 1 Satellite, which I ended up purchasing and have regretted ever since. It's constantly updating, like every time I get on it, and then I get more notifications of it needing more "updates" as soon as its done "updating". My cursor is given me he** and I have to use an external mouse instead. It won't allow me to view my pictures after I was FINALLY able to download them...and so on, and so on. I simply hate it. I have had my Toshiba laptop since March 2016 & needless to say, I will be shopping for a new one very soon. I don't even use it to type my manuscripts, which was my main reason of purchase.
