There is alot to love about the C5400 router. The only con I can think of is the advertised MIMO technology being available in a future firmware upgrade. This is important to note if you're expecting that feature to work outside of the box when purchased. The C5400 is extremely fast and offer the numbers to prove that. With the C5400 delivering combined Tri-Band speeds you can game without slowing down your network. My favorite feature of this router is the ease of setting up, and using TP-Links clean admin interface. I did notice much smoother performance with Smart Connect automatically assigning the proper channels to your devices. I highly recommend this router if you're looking for a router that can handle multiple simultaneous connections, and allow you to still game with no lag. Your frag count will increase while dominating your foes.

Don't let the price or brand fool you. This is an excellent router, with many features that the more expensive routers have for less (have BB price match for a better deal). Easy to setup. I have Blast Pro 400 from xfinity and regularly pull 450 down on CAT5 and 300 on my iPad Pro 10.5/iPhone 7 Plus. Lots of features, plenty of memory, plenty of horsepower for a household with a multitude of devices like mine.

It's the router you want to buy now because of the bang for the buck! The newest routers have technology that isn't in use yet and are $150 more! So buy this one you'll be happy you did.

    Fair but wouldn't buy again

We've been using this for almost 2 years of using this for non critical Wi-Fi a weekend property with Xfinity Gigabit service. Here's why I would not buy it again. 1. The support is lackluster at best. Specifically firmware updates to fix known problems are extremely slow, in fact in 2 years only 2 updates, none SINCE Sept 2017 so apparently TP-Link has stopped supporting the product. 2. Wi-Fi SSID's frequently bounce in and out, no rhyme or reason. 3. As Richard pointed out, the features are just not sufficient for the price of the device (based on when it first went to market). On the other hand, if you can't spend the $$ for the top name routers, it does an ok job with decent speeds, but again it has frequent signal drops. I've also used Netgear Nighthawk X6, X8 & X10. The X8 was by far the fastest and most reliable for my primary & weekend homes. I was extremely disappointed with the X10 because it had unreliable in & out wireless signals as well. The X8 on the other hand was rock solid & extremely reliable but at a higher cost. I think netgear must have had similar experience from others because I see they recently released a new model variation of the 2 year old X8 its called the ax8 / ax6000 With that said, when I see TP-Link providing more frequent updates & longer support for products beyond a year old, I will gladly give them another try with routers. Some of their other products are solid but I'm not naive enough to think TP-Link isn't aware of issues they could fix with the ac5400....

Appearance: I took some pictures when I first received it so you can see exactly what I received. I’ll upload them with this review. Construction: Very well constructed. The main unit and antennas are made from strong plastic. Functionality: I hooked up this in place of my TP-Link 3200 model in order to test its performance. It preformed just as good as my 3200. The only difference in the models is 50mb in bandwidth and the 3200 have two 5GHZ lines so I was expecting this result. I’m able to run a PS4, XBOX one, 2 laptops, 1 desktop, 2 mobiles, 1 tablet, 4 Raid devices (huge personal online drives), printer, and more. I generally have all these devices running at once besides the PS4 and Xbox One and I usually am streaming plus downloading something. I also have two family members who occasionally log onto my network. I never have any problems with bandwidth. I also get a solid 1000 ft. though walls. The USB ports allow for linking of printers and standalone hard drives. Negatives: Nothing negative was observed. Noteworthy comments: Setup with TP-Link routers is incredible easy. Anyone with the most basic computer skills can easily set one up in under 5 minutes from cutting the tape on the box. Would I recommend to a friend and family? Yes, I’d recommend this product to friends and family. 1-100 Rating: 100 (Works as described and performs well). Did I receive all listed parts/pieces? / Packaged well? Yes / Yes. Current price / Current date: $299.95 (Prime) / 8/1/2016 Name of Seller / Company: TP-Link

easy to configure and very strong signal

TP-Link Archer C5400 router. What a GREAT router. This replaces my old wireless router in a 2 story 3200 sq. ft. home office. The old router signal wouldn't reach every room, had to install a repeater. The C5400 has a very powerful signal. I did several speed tests on iPhone and get 200 Mbps wifi, even in the furthest room. Major improvement. Router configuration is simple but I didn't try anything advanced. Used an Ethernet cable for configuration and screens popped up quickly, no delays. Found later firmware on TP-Link website and installed that. Simple. Turned on the "Smart Connect" so that all 3 SSIDs look like one and it seems to work fine, no problems. It is a bit expensive but if you want a really simple, fast, very powerful wireless router then this is it.

    The Answer I Needed

In my two-story home I started to accumulate more wireless devices but i never would have guessed the router was my bottleneck. I figured it was the thickness or distance of the walls and my setup. After I implemented this AC5400 I activated the auto-leveling of 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands and the less used 5GHz is much stronger than before and less interference with neighbors. I currently have 3 laptops, PS4, 6TB NAS, 3 Wifi security cams, desktop powerline adapter, google home mini, 2 fire sticks, Shield TV all running smoothly.

The second 5 Ghz channel shows up on a & off. Spoke to tp-link and they sent a replacement router. I have no idea why the channels shows up on and off. an recommendations for the bandwidth and channel number for 5ghz channel, particularly the second channel.

Started giving me trouble a month from purchase date, I thought it was something in my house or some "rogue" equipment as they claimed, but after my 2.4 channel disappeared and countless hours on the phone with their customer "disservice" I just went and got me a linksys EA9500, everything has worked flawlessly ever since.
